Members in this forum can give the advise based only on the description provided. Please understand that, it would not be all. The troubleshooting advise are given based only on the how best one can depict their issue in words. So personal inspection and providing the solution is always regarded the best.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostSir, to reduce cost and to preserve time we'd like to know about all the thingi's inside the engine & transmission that are very much prone to wear like the washers, seals, friction plates etc. The purpose is to not repeat the mistake Aneesh made(only after overhauling he got to know about replacing the blah blah seal - Sorry forgot the name.)
Had a date with the service manual, but since both of us are novice's we're not exactly sure which all parts to order. So sought out to seek expert advice, speaking of that. Its been long since I've seen PSR Sir.
Heres the taking a spin(40Kms, rode back from college on this.) report of the ride.
The handling seems abit off, maybe misalignment or bent forks or something. The ride was missing the left handle weight. Smooth acceleration was ok, but hard acceleration always resulted in trouble sooner or later. After every 10mins the bike stalled, we had to open the tank and let the air out for the bike to get running. Then the bike was smooth till 80Kmph after that the vibes started kicking hard. And about the transmission, the third gear had the winding/grinding noise, like woooowwwwooooowwwwoooowww... And would get faster with acceleration and vice versa, but would immediately go away with gear shifting.
Other than that, Didnt find anything odd, and yeah the AFR screw's stuck.
To your post.
Of the issues you reported, you list out the likely cause if the bike stalled frequently etc. and trouble shoot. Could be bad fuel, air lock, air leaks, value issue etc. Ok, If I were you would do like this... of what learned from this forum, will take it one by one and trouble shoot.
There could be times we learn something new by experimenting or doing something wrong. Don't feel bad, it is the best way to learn and most of us would have gone through in a way or the other.
If your friend wants the bike to be restored in the best of the best condition, then I would suggest to rebuild the whole engine from the scratch. This would not only ensures all things, sorry thingi's are taken care but something called SATISFACTION you'll experience like never before!
After hundreds of pages in thread...
We should discussing like this -
Issue - what did you find (observation) - what did you do immediately (troubleshoot) -if did not work, post it in this forum with history of factfindings so far.
Hope I have given some plan to go ahead to help you approach the challenge.RX100 1996 | Karizma 2004 | Karizma-R 2011 | RXZ 1999 | RX 135 1998 | RX 100 1993 | CBF150 2005 - 2011

Sure will tryOriginally posted by ashwinprakas View Postand yeah the AFR screw's stuck.
Try Zorric or WD40
@ACS Sir,
When you mod the ZEN MPFi air filter please post a detailed DIY so that we'd be able to implement in this bike too.
Breath-ability is supposed to go up many fold .Originally posted by sunny_ View PostBTW, performance differences with this new filter????
@psr Sir also, kindly reply.
Sir , what is the thingy you have used to seal the gap at the right side of the filter ?Originally posted by psrmy Zen MPFi air filter mod ...
If I can get a hot glue gun in Kannur , then I'm sure you can get it there .Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostWhats if we're not able to source the hot glue... Would FEVIBOND do the job??? And if by any chance we did source it,what brand should we be looking out for???
I think Fevibond is a better option than Hot Glue in any situation. (not sure whether it's a conductor -with regard to electricity- ) Hot glue cannot be used where there is high temperature - it melts!! Hot glue guns should be available at electronic outlets .

I doubt the breath ability will go up by many folds. It will surely go up but not by many folds.Originally posted by acs1207 View PostSure will try

You can even increase the breath ability of stock filter by revising the air intake route & it will be similar to what you will get using this zens filter.
I had used this air filter on Swift DDIS with revised air intake & it had shelved off 1 & 1.5 seconds in each gears..need not mention the other advantages.
Will u be keeping the other plumbing part of air intake on the bike stock ?

For all kolkata riders -Originally posted by sunny_ View Post..It comes in 1L bottle also?
I was quoted Rs220 for 900ml.
You'll get gulf/motul 1lit bottle for 200-210 Rs if you bargain a bit at ESS-Enterprise in Jadavpur ( beside KPC hospital ) . He is a genuine dealer for many oil brands in south Calcutta, I have confirmed from motul area sales manager . He stocks valvoline elf shell veedol castrol HP etc & greases & gear-oils etc too . Good guy .
If you use the 10w30 HH 4T oil , there are two small parts shops on Anwar Shah Road . From Tollygunge Phari take a left turn at the Tipu-Sultan-Masjid to enter Prince-Anwar-Shah-road . Keep looking to your right for about a 100 meters after you pass the masjid . The first shop is stocking the Tide-Water(veedol) made 10w30 HH 4T oil for 175 Rs a bottle
. Tide water makes this oil in collaboration with Nippon-oil (Japan) .This is mucho better oil than the bpcl made oil commonly available at HH service @200 Rs . The second/other shop is charging 180-200 Rs for same oil or bpcl , avoid it .

Till the RX gets really started on it's 2nd gear the Kiney has advantage due to it's vario drive - that's what I heard .Originally posted by SriramEfunds View PostOh! I was fortunate to see Kinetic which can smoke RX... lol
Intake sound will change , but not that much I guess since the filter would still be in the air box .Originally posted by sunny_ View PostIntake sound changes?
In the stock setup, can I remove those nuts and any small thing from the last part of the exhaust to boost the sound to a small extent??
I doubt whether you can do anything to the stock exhaust to make it louder without disassembling it -
Once you cut it open, you can do as you please . See pic below. The 1st one is from Karizma manual uploaded by psr

How do you suppose we can revise the air intake route ? As per my view , we can drill small holes on the outer cover of the air box ( I had suggested this once here itself but got near zero support ). The air intake route as it is now is the reason for almost silent intake sound.
If we get more breath-ability then I guess we can get more mileage or we can get more pick up/top end with existing mileage .
Have plans on drilling holes on outer cover of air box and also fitting wire-mesh/plastic-mesh to existing intake to filter out bigger particles from getting in and covering the filter's surface area .
@ psr ,
sir, how many km will the zen filter last before we have to change it ?
How many km have you run your bike with it
and what is it's condition now ?
Anybody ever thought of forced air induction for ZMA R ?
