  • @ karizma long term owneers:

My bike has done 17.9k and is going for service tomorrow. Is there anything particular or special to be done in this service?

Please feel free to add anything that I'd have missed.

    1. Oil change(Suggest any Xw40 mineral oil)
    2. Oil strainer screen cleaning
    3. Chain drive cleaning.

And yes, the gear shifters of the bike are very hard. What may be the issue?
What do I intend to do? Stuff ZMR drivetrain into an Ambition chassis and watch others run scared!

zma with stock sprockets goes 65 kmph at 4000 rpm's, that means 130 kmph at 8000 rpm's. but my bike goes 75 kmph at 4000 rpm's, that means it goes 150 kmph at 8000 rpm's
Is there any mileage difference due to this?
What about your other mods? are you using K&N airfilter and upjetted carb?
How much did it cost for you ?

HEy where are all karizma experts??? Please throw some light in to this
Ravi anna do you know any others who did sprocketing on Zma?

There is a metal piece that goes around the front sprocket/chain. Increasing 1 at the front would make the sprocket slightly bigger. Any issue of scraping this metal piece? I thought that the gap was quiet small and was worried. Wanted to change either by increasing 1 at front OR decrease 2 at back since my ride is mostly highway, though not both.

No expert, however common sense says will get better mileage especially in highway with good cruising ability. 150kmph? I doubt it, at least not without serious mods to increase power. In fact it may loose top end with a 1 increase in front and 2 decrease in back. Thats like changing up to 4 rear teeth and thats a bit extereme for my taste.

          • i touched 160 by doing sprocketting, NOS is only used to reach our top speed without wasting too much of time.on 130kmph in 5th gear ur bike would b doin redline.i use k&n without jetting, jets are stock.pick-up is better than before, only ur reaction wil b lil slow in initial.
1st gear goes upto 45 kmph,2nd-70kmph,3rd-110 and so on top speed is above 150
u can simply calculate ur top speed by ridin ur bike in 5th gear at 4000 rpm, whatever ur speed comes double it up, thats ur speed at 8000 rpm's and that's ur top speed.
both sprockets are for rs.1500, any 1 sprocket will cost rs.1000
            thanks!

                  Whats special about 17.9k

Well, ZMA's gear shift is hard by default. if you feel its more than the original, change your oil brand n also tell that to ur Mech.

                          • guys u would b thinking, that my zma is crossing coz i had put NOS on it, but for ur kind info NOS only helps in reachin ur top speed in very less time. it does'nt increase ur top speed. basically its only used to reach redline fast, so that shifting can b done fast.

You need your speedometer to be checked and/or replaced.
