      • My ZMA's speedo cable malfuntioning. Always show 0 speed. The odo meter rolls 1 km for like 100 kms! Guess will have to change the cable.

          It is absolutely correct. There is no malfunction. When the last bar starts to blink, the tank will have around 3.5 to 4 liters of fuel. The reserve holds 2 liters of fuel.

          This is universal for all the karizmas.

            Not mine, When the last bar blinks on my ZMA it says 35kms to reserve! at 25kmpl.

              Mmmm... Interesting. Most of the Zimas I have seen are behaving like this. Even this is reported by many members on the forum. Anyway as long as it shows constantly in one manner, no worries.

                Change the cable it cost around 65rs , I did it a week back.

                Its actually 2 liters left out excluding 2lts reserve when it starts blinking the last bar. Tested this couple of times, infact many times.

                    I think the 4 lts in the tank when the bar blinks is right. My bike ran to reserve fuel at around 90kms after the blink began.

                    Do I assume a 45kmpl efficiency??. Is possible i guess..me doing the running in and riding below 4k RPM ALWAYS!!

                    Will check for accurate figures and update soon..

                    • vinfreak: assuming like this would be wrong. Instead, when u bike hits the actual reserve (wen u turn the fuel cock), reset the trip meter. Fill some fuel, say 4 litres. Ride the back till it hits the reserve again and note the trip meter reading. Divide this reading by the amount of fuel filled to get the accurate average.
                      Eg : the reading says 160km and u filled up 4 litres : avg is 160/4 : 40kmpl

                      • ^^^Yeah buddy thats what I am doing, i wrote that post when i came back from lunch and i had to turn the knob to reserve midway. The trip read 90kms from when it started blinking. It was just a feel good assupmtion...
                        Will follow the right method and get the efficiency soon.

                          If you ride carefully at 4000 rpm 45 kmpl is easily achievable depending on traffic conditions too.

                          • A strange sound is coming from my ZMA's engine. The sound is absent when engine is idle or even when the engine is revved up at idle condition. But it is very much audible when the engine is in higher gear at rpm above 3500. The sound is a metallic kind of sound. It is surely not coming from tappet.

                            F.Y.I - My ZMA R has done around 2000km. At the first 1500km i never crossed 75kmph mark. I have crossed 100kmph mark once at 1780km. My ZMA gives a steady milege of above 40kmpl.

                              Dude! How many kms has ur ZMA run? either you always ride with a tank that is half full or you some how ignored this issue all this while.
                              Or maybe your just kidding and i'm barking for no damn reason.

                              @praveenkm: So your speedo cable has gone kaput, huh. What was your bike's odo reading when it happened?

                              @All: Also, I'd like to state that one of the throttle cables of my ZMA broke at around 9,000kms. Right now its 15,300kms (approx.) I haven't replaced it as yet. Would this cause any problem? It just has extra unadjustable free play for now.

                              ONE QUERY: Till date, only the Karizma and now the GS150R have dual throttle cables among the Desi Bikes. Experts, what's the difference between a single throttle cable(present even on the R15, P220 & RTR Fi) and a dual throttle cable? I Will be asking this to the magazines as well. Let's see

                                Did you check the chain? a new chain gets a little loose quickly.

                                Also check the silencer heat shield!
