Dude, always remember - whatever they break or scratch or damage, they have the prevelege to replace. If you just accept it and rant here, nothing will change. Make them accountable for it. Approach the Manager there 1st. If not satisfied, contact HH Head Office. Make a LOT of fuss!!!

        • Found front disk pad almost worn out at 10k. Changed with the 'Rane' brand disk pad. Costed 425 bux. I know we get for 100 bux too. i got one too. But just thought a branded one may be bettor. Changed it and not feeling any difference in breaking compared to OEM.

          • Praveen, pls post a report after a week days of usage.

BTW, two days back I was shown Rane brake pads for Karizma when I asked fro KBX and the guy quoted Rs 150. Dunno hwo the pricing thing works. Hope at least the packing had a price written on it! He said he even gets ANL sometimes at the same price but no KBX.

Speaking about brands, I know that Rane & ANL are a very long standing trusted names in brake shoe... ever since our Bajaj Chetak days! But KBX is a 50:50 JV of Bosch & Brembo (now completely Brembo) and ASK is Japanese OEM for Honda and does so for Yamaha too in India. I was quoted Rs 90 for KBX and Rs 105 for ASK.

            These guys are looting us!

              • They are made for CBZ. It would be written CBZ on the packing.

So far I have noticed that this design is used in India by CBZ & ZMA. Even in HH spares it is the same spare / part for these two bikes!

Check at your local auto spares shop or any shop where you get motorcycle spares. They should have it.

                • @HydBiker: yeah man these prices are not standardized and ppl make money out of it. But the Rane one feels good. Cos my friend had changed from Oem to 100 bux one and the breaking had gone down quite a bit. But this one i dont feel the change.

Also when the breaking is happening good, one should not mess with the break fluid level even when changing pads else breaking may be hampered.

Its the same pads, caliper, housing etc for ZMA and CBZ classic. Even the cam chain tensioner is the same for both! ZMA cam shaft is straight fit on CBZ though the lobes are 1mm lengthier

ASK is the manufacturer of disc pads. Honda uses ASK disc pads in Unicorn and Shine. So, they are supposedly very good. I have been using ASK disc pads for the last month, and I found them to really very good. Just 100 bucks.

I asked the mechs their if ZMA pads can be fitted to the CBZ he examined the pads and said nope not possible.may be the ZMA and the older model CBZ use the same PADS.
Ha ha ha If you say CBZ, it is old CBZ, not the CBZ-Xtreme.

Why did you keep quiet? Go and question them. Speak to the manager over there and tell him I am gonna complain via e-mail to Zonal office and head office.

I am using ASK pads now. Honda Unicorn comes with ASK pads, so you can believe in ASK. I am finding the pads to be really good. Initially there is a run-in period of around 3 days. Just 100 bucks.

CBZ and Karizma both have same type of disc pads. All the after-market pads will have CBZ written on them. You can use them in karizma. Try the ASK and KBX. Right now I am using ASK (100 bucks) and they are really good.

Actually u dont have to wait for three days. On putting the new pads, catch up some speed and break hard some 5-6 times and the pads will get set.
ASK will try next time. I got 1 for 100 bux named carbon which is completely black!

Praveen, I used the bike for my everyday office going, 40 km up and down in heavy traffic. The pads got set only after three days.

I went for ASK because they are suppliers for Honda.

                        • ^^^ need I add that Ravi was very skeptical before trying them on and even for the first 3 days until the bite set in!!!

He tried them on as it was only Rs 100. He tried another brand too (X-ing, for Rs 130, they seemed to have better build & finish than ASK) that was not as good. Took those pads off in a week days.

                          • I got home my first bike today and am very happy with it.

It just seemed to heat up a bit too much for my liking... felt it around my legs.

Also, i couldn't shift into 1st gear a couple of times, without finding a false neutral :-(.

Finally you have taken the plunge!! Welcome aboard brother. Do not worry about the heating up; it is normal with the new engine. The gearshifts are not false neutral; just wait for some mileage on the odo. When you change the engine oil first time, things will ease up.

Be a bit easy on the bike and keep the RPM under 4k in the initial 1000km. Occasional bursts to 6k rpm is fine.

Do not forget to change the engine oil at 100km. Use only the mineral oil. Make sure the engine oil u put is from Idemitsu and not from BP.

                              Happy riding.
