  • Help needed in selecting Tyre for my ZMA

I am planning to change my rear and front tyre of my bike as I am planning for a 5 day road trip .
I want a tyre that offers me a good grip on the wet road ( Most probably there will be heavy raining on my route ) . Can anyone tell me a good tyre that offers me a good grip on wet roads and will prevent fish tale on braking hard(at least to some extent).
I have heard to install some wide tyres I have to remove the chain cover. I am not interested in removing the chain cover (even though it look good I don’t want to spend time in open chain maintenance )
I read some tyres are too heavy so that it will drop the acceleration and top end . I don’t want such heavy tyres also .
So Please suggest me a good tyre (with tube or tubless) that gives me good grip on wet roads and can be installed without removing the chain cover and which is having least impact on acceleration and top speed. If such a tyre is available in stock size (100/90) I will be glad to go for that , I will go for wider tyre only if there is no good option in stock size..
Please suggest me a good tyre according to my requirement .

I have been using M45 front and rear no modifications on the chain cover
Tyres have good grip/excellent on off roads
i get around 42 on highways and 38-39 in city
Top end performance has decreased down 5kms however bike does go to 100 easily max it goes is 120

              2. Its normal.
              3. Try to use the bike more often. Battery life is 2yrs average.
              4. Its normal.
              5. Carb is not something for noobs to fiddle with.

                3) Its fine if the battery isn't too much discharged before you use the self starter and if the battery gets to charge sufficiently soon after. Battery life depends on battery quality and also your pattern of usage. One week of disuse is fine if battery is close to fully charged before the period of disuse. Amaron, BOSCH batteries will likely retain their charge longer (during periods of disuse), provided of course there is no parasitic load.

                    1. it is not at all normal .. i am using Zma , even with weak battery it will start in one attempt.. i changed my battery two months back but even just before that also i never faced any such issue..

do one thing tell these problems to the service center guys if they are not solving it find a good mechanic and consult him .

The reason for this can be
                    a. Bad quality petrol - change to sheel petrol and check the problem exists or not
                    b. check spark plug and airfilter and carburator .

                      1. its normal...many people have to start d bike wit the choke when cold strting....n it is always adviced to kick start your bike in the mornings or atlest once in every 24hrs..n specially when ur bike is not used for 2-3 days...
                      2. the engine oil takes some time to circulate thru the engine after strtin and also to gather the engine temperature..its only after 1-2 kms that ur engine gets nicely heated up....and its only after that wen ur acclrationn bcums smooth and responsive.....

That is the purpose the choke exists for. Things depend on the climatic conditions... overall temperature of your area, the night temperature... are you near any water body or near an open space... the night winds get cooler than other places... everyone need not face the same situation but there's nothing wrong with what you are facing.

But then, is everything all right with your bike? Like Jithu mentioned, the petrol quality, air filter, spark plug...

                        2) when bike starts ....the throttle response is not crisp......it only improves after riding for 1-2 km.ANY SOLUTIONS???
Once you start the bike, do you idle the engine for at least 30 seconds? Don't try to revv the bike until it warms up... ride slow for 2 minutes and then you go on.

                        3) i always start my bike wid self start....even in cold start,,....i use kick only when bike is left unused for 1 week or so.will it affecct battery.wat life can u expect.ANY SUGGESTIONS
those things do not affect the battery life so much. it generally lasts for 2-2.5 years.

if you dont care for average much, make the mixure rich by half turns,it'll eliminate your cold start prob and you wont be using the choke too....

evrybike gets crisp after reaching it's operating temp dude....
it wont be showing you the powerband too untill it'll be reaching its temp which it usually does after 3-5 kms...

                          • guys getting back to fuel efficiency.last week when I checked I got an astonishing 48.5 on my zma.filled her belly again to check - this time at a different gas station and the fuel efficiency was 35.filled her up again from my regular gas station and got a whopping 53.I am confused how can there be such variance between gas stations.53 on a zma - this is my personal best and makes me wonder as well.the bike was ridden at all times in similar conditions and kept below 4k at all times.

                            • @Steve: which petrol bunk is that? I'd love to increase the mileage of my ZMA too. Your story sounds interesting!

Not at all a good idea to do that, just for ease of starting!!!

Hehe... quite possible. As I mentioned, it depends on the battery quality and the way you use it. I had one which lasted 7 years. Btw, is your PEP electric start? And which battery?

Not surprising at all dude... now you know the extent to which they cheat on quality and quantity.
