  • Hello, enfield owners. My uncle came from US for two months and he wanted to buy a new RE to use in that period and sell while returning. But there is a good waiting period for these bikes here atleast in Hyderabad. I'd like to know is it possible to get any of the RE models rightaway, or all the models have a waiting period??

In case there is a waiting period , he will have to buy a used one. Any suggestions as to where to look for, as giving an online classified will take days to respond.

    Please guide me owners. Thankyou.

Not possible to get any RE without a waiting period currently.

Hi I would like to fit 2 Fog lamps to my 14K Old TBTS. Throw some light on

I dont want a fog light which cannot be used both in Night time( where visibility is less) and for fogy weather

Is it true some fog lights dont work well if the road doesnt have the white markings

        • My TBTS

My TBTS (done 14 k) gives a strange " Thud " sound when I turn off the bike .

Also when i start the bike for the first time in a day and when I engage the first gear it gives me a strange shake as if i dint apply full clutch (I apply full clutch). This issue never occurs on the same day even after parking for 8 to 10 hours . Happens only when started for the first time in a day.

I got the Cam wheel assembly replaced in my 3 rd service. What may be the problem????

            Hi Buvan,
I don't have any idea about the 'thud' sound. But is it a sound from the exhaust, or a mechanical noise (two metal pieces banging together). If it's from exhaust/ engine, then maybe it's the last combustion getting stopped inside the engine. Try killing off the engine using the decompressor and see if the sound is still there. [Does the TBTS have manual decompressor? I don't know.
About the slight shake, it happens in many bikes. And it does not happen always, either. It feels like a jerk, as soon as you engage a gear from neutral. Not to worry, unless the jerk is strong enough to make you fall down.
You had the cam wheel replaced - why? Didn't the service center people say why?

            • Whatever service centre guys told me ,I dint get it.They said its not a major problem. But what they said is my bikes compression is good.

No TBTS doesnt have a manual decompressor.

The Thud sound is not from the exhaust, Its a noise from the mechanical parts which i dont have a clue.

The jerk happens every day when i start for the first time and engage the first gear. Its very irritating actually

              • Of air filters and pirmary oils

                Hi,
How to clean the air filter for Std. 350? It is the paper drum type, and my mechanic just takes it out and bangs it on the ground a couple of times. No dust comes out (Does that mean Hyderabad air is really, really clean? ). Also, when to replace the filter?
My mechanic replaces the primary oil (in the left side cover) during every service. Is that necessary? Does the oil get spoiled every 3000 km/ 3 months?

                • Want to buy a CL 500

                  Guys,

I am mad about CL500. I want to buy this beast and ride to the fullest.

But facing a major problem with the delivery period.

I am from Maharashtra , Mumbai.

I went to book the CL500 then Showroom guy told me to wait for 13 months for Cl500 and 8 months for CL 350.

As i went through the thread of CL 500, all the users are from Delhi or Bangalore or Chennai or Mumbai.

I think the craze demand are in only these metropolitan cities only.

I think that i should book the bike from some small city and register it in Maharashtra.

All India Bulleeters:- can any one tell me whether from any part of India i can get the CL 500 with in 3 months or less and then i will bring it to Mumbai for registration.

                  Please help me .

Some say yellow fog lamps are best in dense fogs ... maybe ... but I find my 70w white fog lamp quite sufficient for me. The lowest level on your Bull is the best place for fog lamps. About fog lamps not working well in absence of road markings ... that's crap.
As for specs ... any reliable auto light company product should do fine ..
                    Price ... maybe Rs 200 - 500 .. dunno ... I got mine free from a guy who has a lotta 4WDrives ...

                          • ^^ nope, infact it will become quote uncomfortable after that. I find the drop handlebar position most comfortable, and have ridden my T-bird in crazy peak traffic roads of delhi ( mg-road-qutub minar-green park - aiims - ina ) for over three years, and found the drop handlebars most comfortable. What you could do is try and alter the angle of the handlebars. ( what i found worked best was keeping the angle of the front forks, and the bars rising from the mount point in a straight line ).

Some people get the handlebars adjusted too forward ( which gives them a funny body builder like appearance/position ), get them lowered, you will find it much more comfortable.

Hey bud, the oil that you should go in for should be a grade 50 oil, or it can be a multigrade with the rating for high temparature operation as 50.

                                For the engine:
                                SAE rating: straight 50 or xW50 (15W50 or 20W50)
API rating: can be anything above SG, although the higher the better
JASO rating: You don't have to worry about this in case of a Bullet as the clutch is contained in a separate cavity with its own oil there, so MA or MA2 doesn't matter.

A suggestion is that you should stick to an oil reccomended for use only in 4 stroke bike engines, not cars or anything else.

                                For the primary chaincase:
                                SAE rating: straight 40 or xW40 (10W40 or 15W40 or 20W40)
API rating: again anything above SG
JASO rating: Here it should be MA2

Also, you can use the ATF in our primary chaincase. But be careful that the type is Type-F, as all other types have friction modifiers in them which would cause clutch slippage here. Also note that the manual reccomended oil used here is of grade xW30, but then I have found it very thin at temparatures prevalent here & also the traffic conditions. I found the xW30 oil needing top-ups from time to time, which were quite frequent.

                                Take care.

                                Happy thumping,
                                Prakhar

                                Dear Blackfire,

A doubt, why do you suggest oil of API rating more than SG because more the rating less the amount of Anti wear additives like zinc and phosphorous which i doubt may affect the push rod tappet engines .

                                Please clarify
