The bullet does come bundled with a lot of vibrations...Not sure about vibrations at 100 on me new Electra (UCE Version) as I am still running him in. The old Electra (CI engined version) would go like a gun cruising in the 90 - 100 range really sweet in fact the overall vibes were far lesser on the old Electra actually unfortunately that grand old engine is not available anymore.

N buddy, I'm not going to part with my FZ . I'm buying TBTS for tours but FZ is still the Lord of the Streets
We'll be two of a kind ON xbhp if and when you get your TBTS. Full on . And totally agree with you on the FZ being the lord of the streets.

    • Norton type silencer

Hey, anybody used a Norton-type silencer on their Bullet? I have heard/ seen a few - sound is loud and a sort-of hollow thump. Silencer looks quite different too.
But my mechanic says the Norton type damages the engine in the long run!!

        Hi guys,

I am planning to buy a Royal Enfield Standard 350 cc bike next month. I have been a unicorn user, but bullet has always been my passion, finally the dream is coming true.

I would like to ask you guys some basic info about things that i should know before owning the beast and some tips on maintaining and having a hassle free ride. How to take very best care of the bike to avoid any engine trouble or such occurring.

The one I am booking comes with left gear shift like normal bikes as they told me the classic version has been stopped, the one with the right gear shift.

        plz help out guys.

        • Hey guys... Last day I went to my ASVC to for gettin my service date....
There RE guys were conducting a customer feedback prog. for the new STD350 with UCE....And luckily I got the chance to test 3 variants of it.

-One with long bottle silencer ,normal handle and seat.
-Another with short bottle, more padded but normal seat, normal handlebar
-Last one with a padded but stepped seat and electra like handle bar and long bottle..

Being a TBTS user I wasnt much exited abt the engine.... But MAN!!It felt so different..... The Bull pulled way too better than my TBTS in 2nd and 3rd gears at extremely low speeds..and felt more torquey.... Doubtful and confused I asked the guy if the crank weight was changed or some modification was done to the engine. And he said The crank is heavier than the other UCEs....!! And the ride was impressive too!!

After doin away with the electric starter and fr disc brakes it is still priced at a whooping 92k OTR (in TVM)..

I would give a big thumps up for the engine and the performance of the new UCE.
But thumps down for the heavy pricing ,lack of thump and for not giving the feel of the good old right foot shifter..

              • Handle Bar For Machismo 500

Hi Guys. I recently bought a machismo 500 in Bangalore. Have done 350 Km. Can I change the stock handle bar to a short or straight one? Will it cause any problems in riding? Also can I change both the wheels to new Cl 500 18"?

Congrats on your buy.. IMHO the stock handle bar of LB500 is better than the flat one which used to come with Standard. I am trying to change it into the uppish handlebar with weights for better stability in high speed.

ps: you can see the flat handlebar in my profile picture..

Keep in mind that the handle you change to must have a hole for the LHS instrumentation to fit flush and not move around/rotate.

                    Cheers,

Thanks Jay and Ramamoorthy. Can I try using an RD 350? What are your suggestions regarding the tyres? Will the new 18" ones from CL 500 fit onto machismo?

Will fit. Acceleration will go up while the top speed will go down. Cornering and flickability will get better while the straight line stability at high speeds(100+) won't be as solid as before. Also, blasting across potholes may not be possible anymore as the 18 inchers will go into most potholes than glide over them like the 19 inchers. Braking, especially at the front should see big improvement with the grippier rubber. The speedo will show a different reading too as it is calibrated for a 19 inch front.

                        Cheers,

                        Jay

                          • Today I saw the Std 350 with the UCE at the company RE showroom in Jayanagar B'lore. It sbeing sold at an On Road Price of Rs 97k (Aprox). Seems like a good buy considering you save about 10k of the electra and bout 13 k from a c350. Also teh waiting period in Banagalore for the std 350 (UCE) and the Electra (UCE) is 2 months in Bangalore.

But what you get in return is the higher torque/pulling power. My 2004 Electra kills my Ninja 250 (33 bhp compared to 18 bhp of the Electra btw) when it comes to riding in the hills. While the Ninja 250 puffs and pants on inclines, my RE 350 thumps merrily on the uphill sections! So bhp output numbers can be misleading.

Btw, I noticed that while the bhp output figures on the new UCE Enfields have gone up from 18bhp to 19.6, the torque has fallen a drastic 4nm (from 32nm to 28) over the cast engine Enfields. I am not a very technical person, can anyone enlighten why?

                              • my frnd has taken a bullet electra and had the follwing doubts with the bike.....

                                1) he has not yet used the bike for 5000 kms in the last 2 years... does this affect the engine life???? his office is damn near to the residence so he sometimes skips the riding ( about twice a week )...

                                2) In the above case, hia average daily riding is about 5 kms... does he need to service the bike every three months?? ( its nearly 500 kms in 3 months )

                                3) If he takes the bike on a long ride ( nearly 1500 kms), will teh bike give him problems???

                                4) also, will a dirt helmet suit a royal enfield??? the bike is completely stock.........

                                5) he is planning to get a security system for his bike.. i have a xenon sycurity system on mine and he is really intrested in gettig it on his... he wants the autostart feature on his bullet..... is this possible?
