There are many options available in the market, but check what's easily available in your area. Plus, one important thing that I would suggest is to buy a model that's not heavy.

As far as the brands go, one of the cheapest & good (read as sasta, sundar aur tikau) brands is Roots (Indian). They have a good range, I am sure you can find something that suits you within their product range. Another brand is Hella, again with a plethora of models in their range. You can check the details on their respective websites.

        • suggestions on new RE bullet std pls

I'm Mahesh, first of all i solute all my Senior bulletiers ... Like all other bullet enthusiasts, I’m an admirer of bullet since my childhood, it was my dream to own a Royal Enfield bullet… it finally came true now, at my age of 26 yrs I got my brand new bullet 350 standard, with RHS gear shift & CI engine, which was kept in my brothers showroom for himself, who didn’t wanted to sell it to any one… to my luck I got it purchased for myself with a great difficulty and by my own earnings… so no my brothers I need ur valuable suggestions/tips on maintenance of my bull, like how to handle it for initial kms and wt are the do’s & don’t’s to be taken care of riding my lovely one…

            • Hi.. You are a lucky guy to have got a legend on your hands.

I dont know whether I am eligible to give you advice on riding a bullet standard. I am riding a bullet only for the last nine months with 5000 kms on the odo

Stick to the speed limits mentioned in the user's manual. No sudden acceleration. No half clutch and second gear method like you ride other bikes, infact dont ride with half clutch at all. If possible, dont take her for city riding for the first 500 kms or so.

              • Ownership Log - 969 kms

My Bull has now covered 969 kms to be exact, and about some 200 kms back it had started to develop severe vibrations and a hard clattering noise when rved around in the range of 50 kmph - 60 kmph in 4 gear lets say roughly about 4 - 5 * 1000 rpm range and I kinda like panicked fearing the worst a dmaged or ill fitted crank and took it into the RE company service near near shoppers stop Bannergahtta Rd. The Service supv there was very co operative and immediately assigned the bike to a good mech there and after the test ride it was diagnosed that the cam needed to adjusted and aparently was fitted too tight so, and the chain needed adjsutment and the fork as well needed some work. (10 negatives to the service people at Teknik motors they did nt do anything when I brought up the issue in first service about the fork and the Vibes and the clit clit cltter sound from the engine). Well anyways the RE guys worked on the bike and returned it to me toaday there is a general hum from the head now wheich the Mech says let it run like this till 3rd service and he would elimnate it completely then, the fork is proper no more wobbly head feeling now the engine vibes have significantly reduced and the bike take sof like a gazzle with a hint of acceleration when taking of on to a gallop speed from kinda like a canter speed. So I am kinda satisfied now.

And also fitted the diamond type crash/leg guard.

                • Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if the waiting time for a new TBTS is less than 3 months anywhere in Pune or Mumbai??

I've been searching for a dealer who can make a deal pretty sooner than 3 months.

In Pune, is there any other shop than the 2 Dhone automobiles? These 2 are getting a lot of bookings and as such do not talk properly to people coz they don't have to lure more customers.

Damn! Getting a new Bullet these days is such a tough thing, Even here in banaglore the wait times are ridiculous, but atleast the RE company showroom guys here are friendly and resonsive, but give the impression that thier hands are kinda like tied when it comes to delivery of new bikes.

                      • Hey thanks ramamoorthy

I've done some 200km's as of now(from 05.05.10).. bull is very smooth to ride.. and i'm maintaining the same speed limits mentioned in manual.. but i had to take it for city ride on immediate next day i purchased it for some RTO inspn and i'm new to my bull and traffic too... i feel like idling is little more in my bike and it is giving an average of 26kms mileage now for my riding...
hope it'll improve after first service.. but let me know it is given in the manual that in reserve it'l have 2.5 ltrs is that true?? coz my bro says his electra has got only 1.5 ltrs in reserve condn..

                        Thanks/Mahesh

                        • Hi Mahesh

We can't avoid city-riding altogether, however we can minimize it. Whenever you feel the bullet has heated up, give her some rest. While keeping the bullet within the speed limits mentioned in the owner's manual, try to vary speed to vary rpm.

You can adjust the carb setting with the RE ASC. Try to identify a good mechanic with ASC and give him the bullet on a regular basis. Smile and small chit-chat surely will help. Also identify a good experienced mechanic outside the ASC to identify the initial problems. My method is to get the problems/glitches identified with the local mechanic and get the problem resolved with RE ASC.

Mileage will improve with time. Mine started with 22 kmpl and now with 8 months and 5000 kms later around 30 kmpl.

The owner's manual says the reserve capacity is 2.5 ltres. I fill as soon as it goes to reserve so haven't verified it the 'hard' way

                          ride safe
