Re: The Honda CB Twister
Actually some black paint on exhaust pipe has disappeared due to muddy water constantly hitting that area. when bike is running the exhaust pipe becomes hot and water on pipe evaporates while some mud still remains stuck. only few bolts are showing signs of rust.....this is common in coastal areas....everything else is fine.Originally posted by smartrider View PostPal,how old is your Twister? Is that brownish deposit on & around the exhaust pipe rust or dirt?Last edited by sachin1111; 07-01-2013, 03:57 AM.

With Zapper C on mind went to the dealer this weekend and got quote of Rs.2175 with fitment (Changemytyre.com says 2000). When I was about to finalize this just asked about other brands and was informed about Michelin Pilot Sporty and CEAT's New Tubeless Tyre. Now I already knew about Michelin and didn’t want it. Also knew Ceat has Vertigo sports tubeless and expecting that button pattern tyres, I was surprised to see the new worm pattern tyre. It ‘felt’ it would perform better and actually was looking good and ‘felt’ little wider. It is called CEAT ZOOM Tubeless. Dealer quotes 2000Rs for this tyre, with 2 yr guarantee and promises it will last 30-35K kms and will perform ahead of Zapper. Now I am confused. Have seen a Twister with Vertigo but have not seen any bike with this ZOOM.. So thought of surfing for reviews before finalizing. To my surprise couldn’t find any on net.I am not able to checkout Ceat website as of now Please help is it a safe bet to go for this CEAT ZOOM? .

Ok Guys,
After 7 months and 6000 more Kms, changed the stock rear tire today at around 26000kms.. The stock rear tyre lost its grip completely and the wheel was locking even on slight breaking. Had been using front disc 90% of the times in last one month. Seem the front too is losing grip though 60% of the thread patter is still left. today from nowhere i headed to a wholesale tyre dealer in Royapettah(Chennai), looking out to upgrade to a zapper c 100/90-17 TL. Fortunately or unfortunately, none of the TL MRF was there and only the ones with Tubes were found. the dealer again came with the ceat zoom tubeless. even After searching few more tyre stores couldnt find the above mentioned ceat zoom 100/90-17 anywhere, except for this store i visited today. The fact is i have not seen a single tyre of this kind on road and wasnt sure if to pick this one against the proven zapper. I still went by my gut , chose this one.. Costed INR2100/- with fitting and three year manufacturer warranty.
Will post review of the tyre soon after clocking few hundred kms..
Few pics below.... Sorry for the poor quality. these were clicked on my mobile in office parking area.. Check out and tell if this tyre is actually from CEAT.

Re: The Honda CB Twister
Wasnt following this thread for few months now. Thanks to changes in my worklife.. getting to read older posts only now...
[QUOTE
Friends here all are discussing about the AFR. Is anybody tried a Shell Petrol.
2 days back i tried, wow it's superb.
Guys i got 86kmpl on that. It's just costs 3rs more per liter.[/QUOTE]
Just want to share my experience with Shell...
I had been using Shell Petrol (NOT Shell Super) till last week, right from 8000ish km to 25000ish kms. I usually go with my gut feeling when it comes to trying new things. It works at times and flops at times. Shell was one of those good things that worked. i usually fillup in a COCO HP bunk. trialed shell just like that twice two years back and since then had never used any other bunk for two years now (Till last week). I have seen days when the Shell's price was Rs.9 or 10 higher than others(Normal petrol) and those days where the petrol costing 50paise lesser than others. With shell, It had been always a peaceful feeling that your bike is running with healthy fuel.
Also I had been using used Shell Engine oil for around 15000kms. Shell 20W40 Mineral oil once for 2000Km, Shell 10W40 Fully synthetic motorcycle oil (costs 796Rs/Liter and i greatly recommend this oil though 20w40 is the recommended viscosity) thrice. The Shell dealer said it will last for 6500-7000kms. First time used it for 6800kms (The engine felt rough after 6500kms), second time for around 5000 kms. Using it for the third time now, 1500km and still going strong. I usually fill 900ml from the 1L can and top up another 100ml after around 2000km.
I have not got great mileage figures like 70 or 80(I know how to extact these figures but i dont drive likewise or maintain my bike in pristine condition.) Roughly i have always averaged 60kmpl with worse being around 55kmpl. Am happy with the 55-60ish kmpl that i get. Most important here is how the bike rides at all kinda speeds.
In shell bunks, you can see a poster wher a trumpet is added in silencer's place with a caption "Hear the performance"... Very true guys. you should use shell petrol along with shell synthetic engine oil to feel the difference..
I can vouch for Shell, having used its petrol for 17000+kms and oil for 15000+kms. meanwhile, i've tried using shell super petrol couple of times, which is even costlier, and found no big change/improvement in performance/mileage. My friend who owns a FZ16 says he gets solid 50+ kmpl with Shell super and 38-42 with other company fuels in similar driving conditions. not sure how true it is though..
Unfortunately i have moved to a place where the only shell bunk available is not operational... still trialing with all available bunks to check and stick to a good one.. Anybody from shollinganallur/ navalur area in chennai can pls help me in finding out better fuel stations...

Re: The Honda CB Twister
Dude are you sure its 100/90-17 size?....some pics are not clear....the size mentioned looks something like 00/90-17 i.e the number 100 is not showing correctly ( fourth pic from top). As per ceat website, ZOOM range has just two models one is 2.75-18 and second is 3.0-18...so both are for 18 inch wheels.Originally posted by 6th Gear View PostOk Guys,

Re: The Honda CB Twister
Your steering effect will be very heavy and handling also erratic. Stock size is 70/100-17. The max you can go with 80/100-17 but your speedo reading will have error.Originally posted by bulletnjeep View PostI've MRF Zapper C 100/90-17 on the rear. Which size should I get for the front one? And if I put 100/90-17 on the front rim what would be the disadvantages?Last edited by mrbabu76; 07-10-2013, 08:54 PM.

Re: The Honda CB Twister
As mrbabu said steering will be heavy thus...steering in traffic becomes difficult. secondly the speedometer will not show correct speed .Originally posted by bulletnjeep View PostI've MRF Zapper C 100/90-17 on the rear. bigger front tyre will show lower speed on speedometer...like if actual speed is 40kmph then speedo may show 30kmph.Last edited by sachin1111; 07-11-2013, 01:37 PM.

Re: The Honda CB Twister
check battery voltage and connections to battery. if voltage has dropped below 8 volts then charge it. if voltage is ok...then check the +ve and -ve contact points of battery, i.e wipe the contact points with dry cloth for any water, rust, dirt etc and tighten the screws that connects the wire.Originally posted by Ullysius Cabral View PostThe self start and horn of my bike are not working for the past 2 days.
