Viscous air filter has got oil on it which retains or rather filters the air. If u clean it then as well buy a new air filter as the old one will be useless after cleaning

Oops! I cleaned it with the help of compressor! So, i need to get a new one. How much does it costs? Has it done any harm/damage , since it has been 1 -1.5 months, I opened and cleaned it.

Ronits,Actually there was no need to open it...as it was only 1.5 month old....there will be hardly any dust (assuming bike run of about 1.5k). If its only compressed air that you have used to clean and not water then filter is ok...you can continue using it. it costs under RS 150.Originally posted by Ronits View PostOops! No, local mechs don't do that . Only the ASC has setup for doing it with fuel-bottle , but it takes a lot of coaxing to get them to do it, as is usual with any other useful thing . It is important to keep track of your fuel mileage from time to time atleast , as it is an important & immediate indicator to the correct functioning of your bike .If you are familiar with the usual fuel mileages of your bike under various conditions .. you shall be immediately alerted when it varies suddenly and find the problem . As I have found , there is always some problem when that happens, without exception .Originally posted by Ronits View PostMan... I have never checked my mileage till date!! Guess, I need to do it soon..

Better replace that air filter since it's not much cost . Viscous paper air-filters are not serviceable , don't tamper with it at idle . That reminds me that I need to wash my splendor's air-filter this weekend
@ 5000kms .

I used Aquafina water bottle, on that 1L is fully fill the can.In some bunks there is difference in 5-10ml varriation. As you said we can notice the reading when bike hits reserve but we need a bottle to check the exact quantity of petrol. If you notice when we filling in bottle they release the nozzle slowly but if we directly filling to the tank they open it fully.Originally posted by Pinaki View PostI do reserve-to-reserve method, is pretty accurate for our purposes. I note down the odometer reading on my iphone's notebook when I hit reserve and fill just two liter from the next pump en route . I do this over 10-20 fills and then one lazy day I take out my phone and calculate the fuel mileages and average them . No need to carry extra petrol with this method , you shall surely find a pump before your reserve runs out
. Another thing I noticed is that the pumps around here are not very accurate at measuring out below two liters . Which is why the petrol company (IOCL) specifies 5-liters for a quantity test , I believe . So I use a two-liter baseline and it's worked for me . Filling less would not be accurate and on filling more , the time taken for it to finish and the extended evaporation, multiple cold start-stop etc losses would throw my readings off .Last edited by rajaselvam_1987; 12-24-2011, 12:59 AM.

ya there is a bit excess capacity that maybe maximum 1L but 3.37LOriginally posted by Pinaki View PostAll fuel tanks have quite a bit of excess capacity . Manufacturers put it there to account for necessary air-gap and non-spill-ability etc purposes (i'm not even sure why
) . But they acknowledge that it's there and you are not supposed to use it and that overfilling above the capacity noted in owner's manual can cause certain problems . I've never done it .

There is no need to change upto 15k kms as mentioned on user manual.Originally posted by Ronits View PostOops! I cleaned it with the help of compressor! So, i need to get a new one. How much does it costs? Has it done any harm/damage , since it has been 1 -1.5 months, I opened and cleaned it.
.
The exact price is Rs.137 including all tax in Authorized Honda spare parts dealer.

guys, here is a idea to find the exact extra capacity of fuel tank.first let the fuel level drops to reserve, then go to nearest petrol bunk and fill in exactly 6.4 liters fuel......thus the total quantity of fuel in the tank will be 6.4+1.6 reserve = 8 liters...as given on user manual.now get some additional fuel in a 1 liter bottle and start putting it in fuel tank and while doing this, keep watching the rising fuel level in tank and stop once it reaches near the fuel cap.so the additional fuel you have added using the bottle... is the extra fuel the fuel tank can hold.Originally posted by rajaselvam_1987 View Postya there is a bit excess capacity that maybe maximum 1L but 3.37L

i'm looking at purchasing a new twister. i will bee using it heavily for at least 150 kms a day regularly and monthly wekend rides of a 1000kms plus. till now have been doing this on a RE 500 avl. how reliable is the vehicle and the mileage ofcourse plays an important part. what the the general consensus on in city and highway riding mileage?
spare part availability is a big question. I read some reviews about the chain sprocket being faulty and needs constant replacement aftr 8000 kms?

Twister is more of a city Bike due to its gear ratios( CB=city Bike). being 110cc its suitable for moderate speeds of 40-70 km/hr. so if you will be constantly riding it at 70+ speeds look for other bikes like unicorn. being Honda its as reliable and low maintenance as other Honda bikes. mileage is about 75kmpl on highway and 60+ in city.as far as i know there are no problem with spares at least in western and southern India. Twister has open chain hence it requires more frequent lubrication and cleaning....sprocket life is affected due to insufficient chain maintenance. as off now only one member at this forum has changed the sprocket and that too after doing 30k... and i have done 11k and my sprocket is still in good condition.Originally posted by kartikdhar View Posti'm looking at purchasing a new twister. i will bee using it heavily for at least 150 kms a day regularly and monthly wekend rides of a 1000kms plus. till now have been doing this on a RE 500 avl. how reliable is the vehicle and the mileage ofcourse plays an important part. what the the general consensus on in city and highway riding mileage?

since you have been previously riding RE....you will find this a very light weight and easy to ride in traffic or otherwise....but its not a comfortable bike on bad roads due to slightly stiff non adjustable suspension.Last edited by sachin1111; 12-24-2011, 10:34 PM.

Hi guys,
how are your rides, unfortunately i hardly used my twister since a few weeks.
But here is some news,
Got a K&N (RC-1060) air filter
Changed my rear tyre to a Michellin Sport, Will upload pics soon.
As of now i have a drop of mileage - 4kms to be exact.
But the bike grips the road better and also i feel i am able to rev harder on each gear.
Any more suggestions?
