1. I need factory or ideal AFR settings for Avenger 200? I just found that my carb has about 8 turns outwards. The color of left spark plugs is ideal while the right plug is very pale as if is not firing or so. I noticed that the right ignition coil under the fuel tank emits sparks while throttling. Maybe some leakage and so I have connected this directly and taped around it until I take it to a mech or replace the coil if necessary.

2. There is this backfire issue because of which I want to meddle with the AFR. If I can have the stock setting I could revert it back. There are no exhaust leaks except for a hole at the bottom part of exhaust (in the middle) which I guess should be for draining purposes. When I rev I can feel the exhaust gushing out on my feet.

3. Finally, any idea on the symptoms of bad valve seating and clearance?

I m not sure about the RE 350 Exhaust but.. I have seen a guy installed a after market exhaust on the bike.. which sounded pretty nice to me.. If you are from banglore.. you can get it from J.C Road..

Dabba exhaust. Modern Tech is just a sticker. They have the same exhaust for P220, Avenger, Apache and Karizma.
[I saw the exhaust personally. The seller was adamant that its just a marketing gimmick that different bikes should have different exhausts. Lame seller!]

Well I m not sure about what sort of exhaust it is.. I always prefer to keep the bikes in stock condition.. or if the modification needs to be done.. I do to only parts which do not effect the performance or efficiency of the bike (e.g.. Seat or Tank or handle bars.. headlight.. etc.. )

Here Is my latest mod to my Avy. Royal Enfield Classic Exhaust. Dont mind the dirt, She (yes, i call her SHE, She is my PHANTOM) is been on the run for a whileMan, The bike is so smooth now, the vibrations are less..... power has increased... Th age old myth of decrease in mileage has been proven false..... unless u wanna rev-up ur bike, for no reason.

Hey lorddrakkus...congrats! So nice to see the enfield silencer on Avenger. Is that a stock exhaust of RE? How much is it and what technique was used to install? Any tips bro? I might have a couple of questions for ya...@all, I changed the rubber dampner inside rear hub, chain guard/guide on the stay along with new sprockets and chain. The scissor gear, idle balancer gear, valve clearance and timing are also fine. I checked what I knew. I still have a grinding sensation while slowing or braking especially on the left footpeg? Anybody sailing in the same boat guys?The Pro Biking experts said,"Saar. This is normal on old bikes" and still gulped down a good 1250/- Great and impressive.Pointers appreciated!

Yeah thats the stock exhaust of RE. it cost me 2000/- plus welding charges. u can see the welded area..... The original avy exhaust's front end is still there.... BTW, u better chk with that grinding sensation... My Phantom, She is 2005 built.... no problemo.

I am facing some high speed issue with my Avenger 220. If I try to go above 80Kmph it starts loosing power and misfires few times. Same occur when I try to go above 60 Kmph in 4th gear. I feel like the ignition is going to turn off. This is very irritating and Bajaj service center are not able to resolve the issue. Everytime I go they will tighten bike chain and say the issue will be resolved.
Did anybody else faced the same issue? please help. I going on a Leh Trip in august and would like to get it resolved.

If revs are climbing with no increase in speed then clutch plate is the issue else try cleaning the carb

I always try to fix things by spending the least money possible (not literally though). The reason is I have wasted considerable amount of money by replacing parts which was not needed at all. At least to me, when I try to be a little stingy, I find solutions and spend as wisely as possible .

Coming to your scenario...

Are the bike's electrical components or connectors exposed to water and driven in rains constantly, especially the one from magneto side (pic below - LHS)?

Under this circumstance, the water tends to get in to the connector which affects the electrical systems. Ensure that this connector is pushed inside such that it is not exposed to water. Disconnect the connector and if possible the CDI unit as well and spray it with WD-40 and reconnect it again.

Do you change fuel stations constantly?
Quality of fuel really affects the performance. Hoping that you fill petrol from the same station most of the time. Check if you have water collected in the tank.

Electrical system on your bike
Even if you have not altered the electrical system, check the ground / earth on your bike. Try the speeds with headlights 'ON'. If your bike does not jerk then the electrical system is the culprit. A good electrician should be able to ground the wire to engine bolt and charge you a 50/-

CDI
Check if you get healthy sparks on both the spark plugs. If not you may need to change the CDI and/or ignition coils.

Spark plugs
Check the color of spark plugs. A highly blackish soot on the plug tips points to a rich mixture and pale color or blistered effects points to a lean mixture. You may need to change the air screw settings to get the ideal mixture after cleaning the carb and air filter. Improper AFR settings can also contribute to such issues.

Finally, change the engine oil if you have not changed it in a while with a correct grade. Use a mineral grade or semi-synth.
While changing oil, you can get the clutch plates, valves and timing checked which would save a lot on labor charges. But I doubt if this could be the culprit as you have never mentioned about gear slippage, false neutral or engine vibrations.

Peculiar question

Hello avenger owners.
My name is karthic from chennai. I ride a honda dio(100cc) for past 2 1/2 years. You know how the scooters do magic inside city traffic conditions?
One of my cousin brother owns avenger 200cc. He is presently in banglore for mba course. No one in his family is using his avvy. He insist me to use his bike till he returns from banglore(maybe around 1 1/2 years). I can maintain the bike from being rusted for at-least two years.

Q 1: How is the avvy behaves in city traffic? Especially maneuverability.

Q 2: What will be the service cost for regular service?

Q 3: After riding the dio for these years, will the avvy supports me?

My height: 5.10.
My weight: 75 kg.
My daily commute distance is 40-42 km.

Please tell me should i get his avvy for city use?

Thanks for the info. Now issue seems to be resolved. Asked mechanic to look at the carburetor and adjust the clutch.

Spent whole afternoon doing the final adjustments and cleaning the bike. Now all set to go for the ride of lifetime.

You make take few days to adjust with handling and Braking but after that it's a sheer joy to ride. About Maneuverability, it depends upon the rider driving experience and his skills. I would rate it good for city traffics, at least we can sit comfortably at traffic signals & jams. I am 5.8' with average built and can easily handle this bike. I think you will do just fine. Mileage will be same as your Dio i.e. around 38 and should not be very heavy on your pockets. So enjoy it for next 1 & half years.
