If Avenger had a tachometer then it would have been pretty easy for us to stay below the 4k rpm to follow the manual. But right now I would suggest not to over rev the engine in any gear till 2k kms.

Ya thanks was following limit per gear

so today I cleaned the chain and lubed it with motul chain clean and lube. There were brown spots looked like surface rust which was not cleaned by Bajaj service centre last time when they cleaned chain .After using motul clean and keeping it for 5 to 10 mins , used the brush ,all the spots were gone .Bought 150 ml of both for 400rs from Amazon India , will last for 1 or 2 more times

      Starters for first service

      1) Dont allow them to put any addictives in tank or engine oil (they mess up everything)
2)try to use any other brand of engine oil if they allow.(bajaj oil screws big time) messed up my gear shifter (was butter smooth before )
3)check for any scratch or dents and make them note on job sheet.(they messed up mine and another avenger guy number plate all numbers worn out.
3)they tighten all parts of bike , so do check if they tight up brake or clutch lever too much , many guys including me came next day after service complaining brake and lever is too tight.

do let us know how your service went. cheers and congrats on your new bike [/QUOTE]

      Thanks man,
First service went really well I think.
      1. They didn't put anything in the tank.
      2. They don't allow other brands.
      3. No scratches or dents.
      4. Everything is tightened properly, I drove a little after service and told them to loosen the gears a bit, they did.

      Good first service I think.

      1) Hiss sound is from rubber covers on front fork, its normal and no fault.Air trapped inside that rubber makes noise when pressed.
      2) 5th Gear is required above 55kmph, below that you must use 4th gear, its normal again.
3)Mileage changes depending upon driving conditions, its normal.
      Hello dude,
You were right about everything, hissing sound fixed, 5th gear is really tall, and mileage I will test and tell.
Thanks for taking the time out.

      Okay, Then its fine.
      Thanks man.
I checked it, everything is fine.

BTW I have to ask something:
What is the correct tyre pressure for avenger street 220?
ASC guy said it should be 30 for front and 32 for rear, but i showed him the manual and the manual says that it should be 21 for front and 22 for rear.
Then, he said its different for tubeless tyres, and he said for tubeless tyres it should be 25 for front and 30 for rear.
      I am confused.
There is a lot of difference between 21 and 30.
      What should I do?

I have a query regarding the run-in period. I bought my 220 Cruise on the 28th of October '16. Since then it has clocked about 700kms on the ODO, used mainly for highway runs and rarely for city use. The first service has been done at 450kms

During my last ride I rode the bike constantly at 80-90 and touched 120kmph thrice. Though I didn't notice any difference in the performance of the bike, i did notice a difference in the sound. It sounds quite rough unlike a new avenger. I also have a Pulsar 180 Ug4, which too I didn't run in properly. I just got it serviced at every 2000kms and till date it performs very well. But the same issue persists in the pulsar too, it sounds very rough.

Is the rough sound due to improper run in, and will it affect the life of the engine?

It was a bad idea running a new bike that has clocked less than 1000kms above 60-70km/h for extended duration. You can run the bike for 80-90kmph for small duration and then slow down back to normal however for longer duration its not advised.
Apparently, the rough sound is not because of improper break-in but instead because of Pulsar engines.
Avenger uses the same Pulsar 180 engine with little more displacement. They all have very annoying level of NVH after 3000-4000rpm. If you want to smoothen things out a bit then try Motul Hybrid oil as many people swear by it for Pulsar engines.
Also, I recently asked a mechanic about vibrations in the bike and he said it's present in all avengers and happens because of longer drive chain. If you clean and lube the chain frequently you might feel lesser vibes, and I too have noticed this.
Btw, does anyone here having a Street variant tried adding a pillion backrest and front windshield? I would appreciate your help in locating the resources to get it done.
I recently got seat cover, metal grills, cree U5 pair of leds, robotech mobile charger, mobile holder, and mod to switch on all 4 indicators at once for foggy weather. Cost was around 4,000rs for all this.

Next upgrade plans are windshield, backrest, a small saddle bag, engine oil change to Motul 5100 15w50 at 1500kms (500kms left), engine led lights.

            Hi,
You can instal wind shield and rear backrest but resources are only available in service center, any local shop can only provide you if you give advance order.
I have seen a street 220 with windshield and backrest same as in Cruise.

BTW my upgrade plan has Alloy wheels and rear disc brakes and Enticer foortest!!!

Yesterday, got bike registered with choice number.

Then, number plates were not properly fixed, rectified myself by replacing long awkward screws with proper screws.

Purchased P220 dual horn and installed it myself with satisfactory wiring arrangement. Time taken was 4 hours!!!

            List of materials:
1)1 Pair-P220 Horns- These are small but powerful horns which sounds very sweet tone. No harsh at all.-Price- 370rs
            2) 1 nos -Minda Relay- 80 rs
3)2 nos - 13mm Nut-Bolts- 1 inch long Bolt to replace with short bolt at crash guard.
            4) 3m wire-30 rs
            5)Harness tape-10 rs
            6) 6nos brass horn clips-30rs
            7) 1nos Fuse Box-40 rs

Installed Relay and Fuse Box near battery. Generally mechanics install Relay near horn and tie it there. But there are chances to wire touching chassis and cause relay failure. So i installed it in side panel, it takes more wiring work but its safe for long run.

Finally I installed Horns. Tried many locations but horns were causing problem for steering movement. So installed near crash guard, not perfect location but serves purpose. I did not want to remove original chrome horn.
I will suggest to purchase chrome plated horns and install it where original horn is located.

Now my Golden Cat says Meoww....

Hi I am a new member. I got myself an Avenger Street 220 in the month of April and have clocked 3300 Kms so far. I didn't cross the speed of 60 kmph during the run in period. Recently the 4th gear has started to slip. I am not sure it is called slipping but what happens is that once you shift from third to 4th there is a loud noise as if the bike is in neutral and the gear jumps to 5th. I can also feel the clutch lever getting depressed. Earlier this used to be only at higher rpm but recently this is happening quite often. I now rarely use fourth gear and try to get to 5th asap after crossing third.

Have you guys come cross anything like this? I have heard many issues about the gearbox and do not know how serious the issue is. I am anyway taking it to ASC for an early second service. Any advice is much appreciated.

                Hi,
Small problem: Your clutch lever is loose, adjust clutch lever and check.
Serious problem: your clutch pressure plate springs are loose, will need to open gearbox cover to inspect.
More serious: Your Gear box has broken something, will need to open it.

Received bike from service center after 1st service. They changed oil, and said to have adjusted Fuel gauge ! They adjusted valve tappet but They did not wash the bike saying washing motor is not working and will do it some days later.
Bike feels smooth now, idle speed is stable. Tik Tik noise from engine reduced after tuning tappet clearance. Now will check mileage of bike soon.

                          My first post on xBHP!

Avenger Street 150 - 12.5k on the odo over 6 months of ownership. My first bike.
I and my Dad ride the bike on a daily basis. Since the bike is prone to losing traction on the rear wheel, my Dad has fallen down a couple of times when riding over gravel covered surfaces.
Fortunateny he got away only with minor scratches . He always rides between 40-50 kmph.

Here's the issue with the bike.

The crash guard got bent every time he crashed. When I took it to the mechanic, he literally KICKED the bent crashed back to its original angle. This is what worries me. The crash guard which is supposed to protect the body work, is bolted on to the chassis with a very weak looking welded joint (bracket?). Where as, other smaller bikes like TVS Victor(saw this at the bike shop) have a very strong crash guard.
I am thinking of reinforcing it by welding a bent metal pipe across the two sides of the crash guard, any thoughts?

P.S : Please excuse me for the use of wrong technical terms if any .

                              Hello everyone,

This is my first post. I bought my new avenger 220 street on the last day of last year And, this is my first bike. I have few questions.

                              1. One thing I came across reading this thread, that avenger street now comes with tubeless Tyre, and it will be written over the tyre itself, but i could not find it anywhere in my bike. Is there any other identifying marks to be sure of it ?

                              2. I have a small place for parking , the way to my garage is something like this , \_/ and as it is in the picture the flat part is very small, and narrow too comapred to the length of aveneger, and in the left incline i need to take bend. After lots of clutch and front brake and time spent, I manage each time to make it park(without scratch) successfully
It's totally beacause of my in-experience, i know but, as all pro bikers are here , so i am looking for some beginners best practices to get over it fast
                              Please help!

The word "Tubeless" will be clearly marked on the tires. Or you can check the valves...tube tires have a bolt outside the rim securing the inner tube.

Don't know what you meant with the parking issue...
