    Nulon Engine Treatment

Nulon contains PTFE....which is teflon...The makers of Teflon DUPONT have very clearly stated that it SHOULD NOT BE USED IN ENGINES as it is likely to clog engine filters, and it cannot offer any improvement....SO DO NOT USE NULON IN ENGINES AND RUIN IT....Like Amitmalve said it will cause clutch slip.Use of any good JASO MA2 certified engine oil of required Viscosity is what is needed..

      • HI everybody,
I celebrated my first anniversary with this bike just a few days back. I have done 12000kms on the bike and recently finished fifth service. Off late I have started getting too much sound from the chain. When I took it for service the svc guys told that the sprocket needs to be changed which will set me back by ~1700bucks.
I told them not to change it and took my bike to another mechanic just for cross checking. He lubricated the chain with some engine oil and told me that I can run the bike till 15000kms before a sprocket change. He also told me that Dazler has this problem due to an open chain. Dont the Honda engineers know anything about the poor roads and rains of India? They have given the same treatment to the Twister too. I think it'll also have the same problem.

The chain has stopped making the noise I know that when the oil dries up it'll start making that sound again.

Anyone has any idea typically how much time the sprocket lasts?
Any tips to take care of the chain? Can I get any spray or something with which I can lubricate the chain without making my hands dirty.

            • Hey Guys, Need some help..!! I hope this is the right place to ask.. !

i asked at 3 Honda Service Centers / Spare Part Dealers.. for the "Main Jet & Slow Jet" of Honda Unicorn Dazzler, ! All of them gave me one reply.. "Sir, these parts are rarely required... so we rarely keep them in stock. We will keep it in the order list, but mostly they are of least priority.. may take time"

I need 3 - 4 pairs of these 2 jets for varying the jet sizes to upjet my carb. (Using R-1100 filter) ! As i am not getting them, i would like to ask if any of u knw the size of the jets..so that i can get them custom made if necessary.
              Or
another option is buying the entire carb.. which wuld be idiotic !! (Does anyone have the idea about the cost of the carb ? )

anyway, culd sm1 plz get me the info regarding the size of the jets?

bro my frnd owns a unidaz too n he has ridden 13k kms in jus 8 months, he had same prob with the chain like u. wen he gave it for service d guy told whole chain sprocket set has to be changed n it costs around rs900, d chain has expanded over its limit so it has to be changed compulsorily. this is d prob of open chain provided in dis bike. i own a unicorn n hav done 21k kms n still haven't changed my chain-sprockets.

Congratulations on your bike's first anniversary. Chain and sprocket generally lasts for around 20k easily (of course under harsh conditions they may last a few thousands lower. There is lot of difference between chains of Dazzler and Twister/Stunner. Dazzler's is o-ring chain and the Twister's is normal chain. O-ring chains have sealed lubricants at each link and gives better lubrication even in harsh conditions. Though a closed chain is good option for Indian conditions, o-ring open chains last longer too due to the sealed o-rings. You have to lube the chain when it is dry and I do not think its an issue. Generally open chains are a bit noisier compared to closed chains for obvious reasons. Just lube the chain if it makes noise or dry. These days all sporty bikes are coming with open chains and it is industry trend now. Twister/Stunner with normal open chain is a blunder by Honda.

I haven't had any problems with the "normal" open chain in case of my Stunner till date. I have done about 8k Kms on it..
Signals which are timed for 50 Kmph are also timed for 100 Kmph :)

If you maintain it well, nothing will happen. The question is about durability. Also, the chains make lot of noise on Stunner/Twister than Dazzler.

                          • Hi, if anyone knows better, can you tell me what are the exact warranty periods (along with the stipulations) on unidaz? Also is it advisiable to clean this O-ring chain with diesel and then lubricate with grease?? or will it do more damage then good?
Asking because those chain cleaners are not available in my town, and the ASS guys would just lubricate it with used engine oil whenever i go in for servicing.

Yes u can use diesel for cleaning the chain if u wont find any chain sprays use any brand gear oil of grade sae 90 its cost effective than the sprays & recommended to O ring chains.

                              • To those having chain issues. Its apparent you are not used to open chain. The negative of open chain is it needs to be clean/lubed more often. The positive is it looks better and more importantly you can easily monitor the condition of the sprockets and chains, especially the slack, and take preventive measures before something bad happens.

And yes open chain makes more noise for obvious reason, though o-ring chains should make lesser noise.

I own a Zma and have removed chain cover since I purchased. Have done 22k till date and my chain and sprockets are still in very good condition and may last me another 10-15k. Yeah, I take care of my chain.

@aytus: Its advisable to use cleaning spray that conforms to o-ring type chains. Some chemicals tends to damage the rubber sealants. Don't know if you are aware but FYI, o-ring chains are pre-lubricated and rubber sealants keeps the lubricants inside the chain where it matters, in effects it prevents outside particles from getting inside.
