Note: I havent seen this 7AH battery which is der in the CB unicorn. But I do know that its d acid type one(unlike the maintenance free which is der in the dazzler).

Hence, given the fact that the dazzler doesn have a kick start it needs a higher capacity battery than the CB unicorn. Ironically, wat I could read from the dazzlers battery is 0.4A (5 ~ 10 hrs). Which means at the most 4AH.

Also the honda service center technicians say that the prev acid type batteries din have as much complaints as what these maintenance free batteries have brought.
Note: Even the dio has the maintenance free battery which i guess is 0.4A (5 ~ 10 hrs).

I OWNED A YAMAHA FZ PRIOR TO DIS,PRIOR TO WHICH I HAD A CB UNICORN. THOUGH I FEEL DAZZLER TO B D BEST MECHANICALLY AMONGST THIS 3.
BUT AS FAR AS THE BATTERY PART IS CONCERNED, TAKING THE FACT TAT FZ TOO IS AN ONLY ELECTRIC START BIKE I.E. NO KICK START. ITS BATTERY(ACID TYPE) IS MORE RELIABLE, I FACED DIS PUSH & START PROBLEM OLY ONCE AFTER I HAPPEN TO RETURN FROM A TRIP OF 16 DAYS. BUT ONCE I PUSHED AND STARTED THE BIKE, THE BATTERY CHARGED BY ITSELF AND I NEVA HAPPEN TO FACE THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN UNTILL I SOLD IT.

2 THINGS TO BE NOTED HERE:
1.THE FZ WHICH I AM TALKIN ABOUT WAS 2YRS OLD AT TAT TIME AND SO IS D BATTERY, AND MY DAZZLER IS JUS 9MONTHS OLD & SO IS D BATTERY.
2.THE HEADLIGHT OF THE FZ IS GLOWN BY THE BATTERY (DC), WHEREAS THE DAZZLER'S HEADLIGHT GLOWS FROM THE COIL CURRENT. SO THE BATTERY IS SAVED BY THE HEADLIGHT'S LOAD. SO D DAZZLER'S BATTERY SHUD VE A BETTER LIFETIME THAN D FZ'S. BUT IT AINT SO.

SO I STRONGLY FEEL HONDA IS GOT A REAL SUB-STANDARD BATTERY(EXIDE)

Completely agree with you. If you go and check the rates in the market, the so-called smaller maintainence-free batteries are actually cheaper than the bigger lead-acid batteries. So, honda has given cheaper battery in dazzler.

Honda definitely made a blunder by putting a low-power battery in dazzler without kicker, but they are arrogant enough not to change it as well.

Also, honda has given rear-set footpegs in RR150 and CBF150SF, which are equvivalend dazzler models in china. If rear-set footpegs are not required, then why Honda gave rear-set footpegs in its China model?? Honda is cheating us Indians buy taking more money for less features.

    • Yes! I agree, with you Antony! That's the one disappointment i had with the bike. In early days i thought the battery wasn't charged. Horn sounds like it's crying (the most irritating part).

      • Re: Honda Unicorn Dazzler 2010

        Hi guys,

Ever since my P150 was sold, i'm using my father's Dazzler when ever I come home for vacations. It's an year old Dazzler and has clocked 7700 odd kms.

I have a few problems with it, please suggest me how to get rid of those.
        • Firstly, it's got the same cold start issues as the old uni, I have to use choke for atleast half an hour(including riding with choke on) for the engine to idle properly or it shuts off, idle rpm is set ~1200rpm. Any solutions for this? Or is this an inherent problem that we have to live with?
        • Second issue is that, while riding at normal speeds, sometimes if I try to accelerate there is no throttle response, i.e it feels as if fuel supply has shutoff and then after a moment it starts to accelerate. It's very annoying in traffic when I try to overtake & it won't budge.
        • Another issue is with the light & horns, horn sound is very feeble, want to change it to a better one without affecting the battery, suggest me a good one, preferably Bosch.
        • Also I want to change the headlamp to a higher spec one, preferably a direct fit without any modifications, if any minor modification is necessary for a better lamp, then it's okay, otherwise I prefer direct fit. I have heard of Osram nightbreakers, but have no idea regarding all these stuff, consider me a noob

I found a few spare lights of our car lying unused, so I wanted to know if I can use them with Dazzler?

Here I'm attaching the pics of those bulbs. Kindly advice

        Osram P43t f898 100/90w

        Halonix H4 60/55W

One of it is Osram with some model number P43t f898 and a pair of Halonix OEM's.

Forgot to mention one more issue, while riding at 100+ speeds on highway, it suddenly starts to jerk as if the fuel supply is off, then if I decelerate a bit, it becomes normal again. What could be the problem and what is the solution for it :S

        • Also which Engine oil should I go for?? should I stick to the OEM Idemitsu or any alternate one?? I used to have Castrol P1 in my p150 and I was quite satisfied with the cold engine performance & performance at full speeds, earlier engine used to feel strained at high speeds, but after I started used Castrol Power 1, ut was good.

          Update:
Kindly bear with my stream of doubts :P

Here's one more, When I engage clutch to shift gears, I observed that engine rpm is down considerably very fast, is it normal?? or should I change gears much faster? Will it affect anything?

Try Motul semi synthetic oil. Stick to the grade recommended in the manual. It's really good. Even the mineral oils from Motul are good.

The drop in rpm while changing gears is normal and happens in every vehicle in the world except for some really advanced ones like the Audi TT which have a DSG gearbox and a dual clutch

              Thanks for the reply
Motul is not available in my town, tried for it earlier too, no luck.
These days even Power 1 is not in stock mostly

If Motul is not available, try Valvoline or Shell. If nothing else is available, stick to the Honda oil (which I think is Idemitsu).

But in my opinion Motul would be the best.

Shell may not be available but I can try valvoline, exact specs?? 10w30 or 20w40??

I'm assuming If I go for 10wXX grades, that should improve cold starts, correct me if I'm wrong

Well, yes using a 10Wxx grade oil would help cold starts but may not be good for the engine at high temperatures.

If you live in extremely cold weather conditions then using a 10Wxx oil may be suitable. However, it's always better to stick to whatever grade the company recommends. The grades are different for different bikes. Many bikes use 20W40 grade oils. Check your bike's manual for the correct grade and stick to it.

Bike manual shows both the grades 10w30 & 20w40, hence I'm confused, the only reason I wanted to change the Engine oil was to check if it clears the cold start issues & jerks at full speed as I mentioned earlier. Else I'm happy with the OEM one.

Stick to 20W40 for the Dazzler. Don't use 10W30.

For cold start issues, get the AFR tuned by the service center. Also make sure that the air filter is clean. Use the choke every time you start the bike for the first time in the day especially in mornings.

Regarding the engine shutting off partially while riding, get all the fuel pipes checked and cleaned and ask the service center to tune the engine properly. Get the idling rpm adjusted. It should be around 1100 rpm when the engine is cold and around 1200 rpm when it is hot.

                          • Completed 14500 kms. Bought airfilter and changed it myself. I am shocked to see the old filter is full of dust and turned black. I guess, its better to change the air filter every 6-7k kms. The price of air filter is 144.

Sri Harsha, do not even think of using 90/100w bulb. You can use 55/60w bulb but it puts load on the battery. Moreover, the high beam will not be good.

Dazzler air filter is Viscous type. Unicorn's air filter will not fit I guess. Take out the air filter and see the condition.

I guess the jerks in 5th gear between 50-65 kmph is experienced by everyone, including me. This particularly happens when accelerating uphill. Guys, please confirm.
