        • K&N filter mod

          hey guys i am thininkin of my next mod....:- K&N filter....whoohoo!!!! so can anyone :-
          1) pls suggest a model number for the filter and also
          2) pls tell me is there any way (other mod) u can put the filter without a loss in the mileage?????
          i am basically makin the mod for the racing ROAR sound and better throttle response...pls guys HELP!!!!!!!!!

            Personally I dont recommend K&N and its not going to increase your bikes performance.Even after optimal tuning and upjetting,There may be an increase of 0.3 to 0.5bhp and that too unnoticeable.Why wasting cash for just a roaring sound?

            You can fix K&N without upjetting so that you mileage wont be affected,but your engine will run lean(More Air and Less fuel) resulting in engine overheating and causing damages to oil seals,Cold start problems,engine wont revv freely,there will be hiccups at higher rpms and damaging other engine parts.I am talking from my personal experience.I had used K&N in my bike without upjetting,gone back to stock within 1week due to un availability of jets and overheating problems.

                  From whatever I have gathered on xbhp, K&N will harm your engine but not immediately. The effects will be seen only after about 20,000 - 30,000 Kms or maybe even more.
                  Signals which are timed for 50 Kmph are also timed for 100 Kmph :)

                        Has anyone felt the stock horn sound is weak?? When I use high beam + turn indicator + horn, I can barely hear it!

                        I dont think it's a battery issue.. even though the stock battery could do better if it had a little more juice (amp-Hrs)

                        I'm planning to replace this scooter horn with something louder. But not too loud to make it indecent. Maybe dual horns from Pulsar/Apache/FZ..

                        And will it be fine to add three horns in parallel? Stock + 2 new horns ..

                          I too have the same issue with my Dazzler dont know what to do, if i replace the horn with something louder worried that the battery would drain.

                          Please suggest....

                            There wont be a power drain unless you honked it when the bike is switched off.

                              • My Experience

                                Hi guys, just joined xBHP.

                                I bought my Armour Gold Metallic Dazzler in Jan this year. Here's my experience so far.

                                On the 3rd day after I bought my bike, I went on a road trip to Coorg from Bangalore, the round trip totalled around 680km. After around 700km I gave the bike for first service.
                                I never took the bike beyond 80kmph in the first 500km of its run. On the way back I cranked the engine to 8700rpm at 117kmph to fully break in the engine.

                                After my first service I am getting a mileage of around 40 kmpl consistently. Since then am trying to increase my mileage to no avail. The bike has done 5560km now in total.

                                My daily trips total around 8 km but all are in short bursts and so the engine never gets time to properly get heated up. For this reason am thinking of putting in 10W30 oil at 6000km mark. Also I will get the spark plug changed as suggested in manual. Should I go for NGK Iridiums?

                                Also when i rev the engine to higher RPMs, the rise is not smooth, but this doesn't happen when the engine is hot, so i feel that probably a different grade oil should make things fine. Am thinking of putting in Shell Advance Ultra 10W40 this time, will let you guys know how that goes when I do so. With regards to shell advance or castrol activ xtra, which one should i go in for?

                                Also when I open up the throttle completely the bike EASILY goes to 110-113 but then the needle stops around 8700 rpms. The engine has never gone beyond 9000rpm ever which is why i haven't seen the other side of 120kmph either. Again am hoping the oil change to help there.

                                Also after around 5 months, the battery had discharged completely, I got it recharged but it keeps discharging. Also one of the electrodes is TOTALLY corroded, infact the wire has gotten fused to it. Am hoping to chage the battery under warranty. Hope that works out. Since I couldn't give my bike for servicing, I kinda standardised the process of starting the bike without kick or starter. Open choke fully. Put bike in second gear. push the bike till 6kmph and leave cluth while blipping throttle and the bike starts however cold it might be!! Some times when the bike is warm, no choke is required and the bike starts in first gear at 4kmph. For 3rd gear a minimum of 7kmph is required which involves me running to I dont use that unless I have a slope!

                                Doing burn outs and donuts in my bike is easy, but I haven't pulled a wheelie yet. Any tips?

                                Most of my runs on the bike are with a pillion rider and i run slightly over inflated tyres, 26 upfront and 35 at the back.

                                I have been experimenting with adding pure acetone to my petrol for added mileage. The amount I add is really less, this time i added 17ml to 5.6L of petrol. I am getting an increased mileage by 6kmpl, but haven't made up my mind regarding this, so will post my opinion after i confirm that my current mileage isn't just my confirmation bias at work!!

                                Despite all that I wrote above, I am ABSOLUTELY in love with my bike and to all you guys who posted whether to buy or not, i say go for dazzler, u will forever be surprised with the versatility of this bike!!
