Have you faced this issue before? If yes, what was the approximate cost of replacing the bulb.

If anybody else have faced this issue, your input would be highly appreciated.
Well it seems like a single LED inside the unit has failed. Unfortunately it cannot be changed just like that. The terminals of the LED are soldered to the complete board and it is infact very difficult to desolder these LEDs individually without damaging the whole speedo board itself.

Thats why people who do LED backlight change mod on their consoles generally tape the original LED with black tape.

As far as service centre goes, they are going to tell you to either ignore this issue, or replace the speedo unit. As such the unit comes under warranty. If possible try and get it changed under warranty for free.

Avotron: better to show your problem to service centre and get it rectified for free under warranty. I have gotten my brake light bulb changed twice under warranty for free.

    • Changed engine oil

      All,

Changed oil today with Shell Advanced AX7 semi synthetic. Feels good to see all that dark slimy sludge out of the engine!

Too soon to comment about any changes in performance.

Reason for trying a semi synthetic is because it is recommended for high speed runs for prolonged time. Another reason is that it's winter now and 10w40 is a better option for cold conditions.

      Done 8888km on Odo.

@kn8alpha do update us with your review of the semi synth. Thanks!

Thanks for reply guys. Just as I thought. Let's see what ASC says. Will be going to ASC in a week or two, due to time constraint.

              @nsm2285:

If you get a chance to hang around the service centre while the console is being fixed, please take some pics of how they disassemble it and share it with us.

Will help some of us "mod" enthusiasts

              • Last Bar Fuel Blink

                Hi All,

Question.. If I set my gas to reserve, Am i going to see the last bar of the fuel to Blink?

Or the last bar should still Blink if I set it to ON?

                Thanks,

The last bar will blink if you set or dont set it to ON also, it will blink if the bike is on reserve that is less than 2L or 1.9L of gas(Petrol) the last bar starts to blink this is what i have experienced.

                  Hope this answers

Agreed. The last bar of fuel indicator will blink if petrol level goes below a certain level in the tank.

It does not depend on the fuel knob position.

I know now whats the issue... My Last bar of Fuel Blinked when it was set to
                      reserve...

When I set it to ON, it doesnt go low enough to blink the last bar, it kills the engine instead.. unless I set it Back to Reserve to run again..

I discovered this when it was set to ON and i was down to the last bar, Engined Died and I've set to reserve, and it worked OK, I filled it with 1 liter of fuel, still on reserve.., now I see the last bar blinking...

                      maybe mine is different

Rings gone - if not attended now the oil drinking will get worse and you will require complete engine overhaul - better get it done ASAP .But i am surprised uni. requiring bore work this soon .

Piston rings are leaking causing oil to enter into chamber, and thats why the white smoke from silencer. Sad the warranty of your bike is just over. Take your bike to the service center and get it repaired ASAP. Piston rings would be around 350 rupees. Labor charges would be around 800 rupees. Also, please confirm if the smoke is white or black. If its white, piston rings the culprit; if its black, valve stem seals are the culprit.

if its white smoke and happens only when you rev it up hard, it could possibly be an issue with the valve/valve stem seal/guides (causing a small amount of oil leak to the combustion chamber). You could first start by getting the head removed and check the condition of the valves&seals/timing chain and get the seals/head gasket replaced along with valve lapping.
then drive the bike for around 50-100kms and check again if you get the white smoke. If you do, then you can go to the next step i.e. replacing the piston ring set.
Lastly, if this doesnt fix it, you might need a rebore with a new set of pistons & rings.

Maybe you could ask someone else to ride the bike at around 60kmph in 3rd gear & you call follow behind and observe if it smokes(and how badly)
