  • Hey guys! I installed NGK Iridium IX CR9 spark plug on my bike! Cost me Rs550/-

To be frank I cannot see any obvious improvement since my bike used to start on the first crank even when cold and the idle was anyway stable with the old spark plug.

However I am expecting a modest increase in mileage and the plug is serving the purpose for which I installed it in the first place that is the engine is running cooler! So happy about that!

btw even after 10500kms the old spark plug was actually in a very decent condition. Nothing obviously wrong with it or anything!

    @ravi
Hey man, that's real sad to hear! Hope you will remain an active member of this thread even after you get your new bike! btw what bike will you now shift to? Also reason for selling the dazzler? Bike related or personal reason? If it is bike related then please share, otherwise ignore.

Dazzler indeed has one of the best fuel efficiency in its class.(my last two recordings are 56 & 58 kmpl) Also this bike is one of the most 'least maintenance require bikes', i guess. Atlest this is what i have experienced so far.

Btw. are you upgrading to a bigger machine or what?
Amit, I will be on this thread for sure. And I fully agree with you that the maintenance of this bike very low. I never got a bill more than 600 so far (except when I had to change the pads). In fact, I am really gonna miss the bike when comes to maintenance. Also, off late, it has been giving astonishing FE. Even, the last 4-liter fillup gave me 64 kmpl (70% highway + 30% traffic). I still have the bike right now as the buyer backed down at the last minute, and so the Dazzler will stay with me for few more days.

And BTW, I am getting back MY old karizma back.

Ravi hope you dont mind me asking, how much were you offered for your bike, bcos i'm also planning to sell my bike .

      Thanks
In the last fill, my bike gave me 64 kmpl (70% highway + 30% traffic).

And as for the price, I got a deal for 48k, but the buyer backed down at the last minute. I need to find another buyer.

NGK Iridium will not give any edge over normal spark plug, but it may last for many kilometers. The VFM would be the NGK G-Power plug. Its just around 180 rupees, and its better than stock.

And, surely I will be around this thread and will make sure you guys don't miss me. I am shifting back to my old Karizma, which would cater to my touring needs better than Dazzler. Though Dazzler is feature rich, the feel of highway cruising at 100 kmph on Karizma is unbeatable.

And, my bike's Battery is dying. Its very weak now and barely able to start the bike. I need to replace it soon. I use my bike regularly without keeping idle for long days. MF battery supposed to last longer, but the Exide battery died just like that in less than two years. I used Amaron non-MF batteries for more than 3 years without any issues. I feel that Honda made a bad choice of going for Exide. I heard about many incidents of battery giving up very early. I need to replace it soon. Planning to go for Amaron instead of Exide.

      • Top Box

        Hi Guys,

Anyone of you tried installing TOP BOX on their Dazzlers? I've been thinking about it, but I'm not sure if the Pillion Grab Screws/plate will be able to handle such weight..

        Please enlighten me..

The Honda 10w30 oil, according to Honda, gives 3-5 kmpl extra than the old 20w40 oil. This might be a reason.

BTW, I am getting an FE of 64 and 62 in the last two fills (two liters per fill, 60% highway and 40 % thin traffic). Even I don't have a clue how the FE went from 54 to 62. I am selling the bike and its giving more mileage now.

Once the bike is out of warranty, you can choose not to use the Honda oil; they will not say anything.
          Sorry for the late reply.
64kmpl???. That's amazing man. How much mileage you used to get before? i guess around 50-54??

What do you think is responsible for such a drastic change in mileage?
May be emotions/sentiments. Dazzler is trying to play all sorts of tricks asking you not to sell it.

Update on my bike: I am getting lot of vibrations in the bike. This happened after my previous service.i.e 23k service.
They adjusted tappet and everything but still some sort of vibration is there in the bike.
In this service also they could not arrest it. They told they will call their workshop manager to assess my bike. so i will be waiting for their call.
And also my RPM is not stable at all. In morning its around 1200 but after sometime it shoots to 1500rpm and sometimes even worse 1800-2000rpm making the bike very harsh and noisier.

I try to manually reduce it to 1200rpm again and in the morning again the rpm would go below 800rpm and bike cannot idle. so we need to increse it a little to make it idle.

                • Light switch change

Guys any idea if we could fit FZ16's right hand side switch gear for my dazzler? It has two features I want.
                  1) An engine kill switch
                  2) A park light switch (I want a small LED in front)

Will the wiring need to be tampered? Will it be reliable?

                      • Dazzler left me just a day back, and I am already missing it. It was not an easy decision for me, but I had to let it go. It has been my companion for the last two years, and it always excelled and never put me in unwanted situation. It had been my companion for many memorable rides that I cherish for long time. Its a complete bike with no deficits for its class. Some plus points of the bike I would like to highlight:
                        • Superb monoshock (It never complained even after the torture I put off the road; I simply love it)
                        • Low saddle and stable ride even at high speeds
                        • Amazing handling
                        • Rear Disc
                        • Tubeless tyres (puncture-free experience for two years, and no fear of punctures)
                        • High build quality (not a single rattle so far, for the amount of torture I put with lots of off-roading)
                        • Lady pillion friendly
                        • Smooth and silent engine.
                        • Superb FE (averaged around 55 kmpl)
                        • Nice digital console with clock
                        • Least maintenance (never got a bill above 700 so far, except when break pads changed)

In this bike, I missed only the parking lights/pilot lamps.

The last few pics of my bike:

                        • Nice pics ravi, and the bike looks in mint condition too this shows that you have maintained your bike really well.
Also if you dont mind can you please share the sale value of you bike so that we can get an idea on the valuation.

                          • IMO, the old Honda Unicorn was better than Dazzler (in looks etc.). The only benefit Dazzler seems to have is that of tubeless tyres. Else the older one looked more solid and rugged.

Ashutosh, this is an ownership thread of Unicorn Dazzler. This is not a comparison thread. Looks are always personal, and for me Unicorn is the least-attractive bike of all 150cc bikes.

And FYI, the chassis of both Unicorn and Dazzler are same, including the engine; Unicorn can't be more robust than Dazzler or vice versa. If you see my bike above, its a two-year old bike, with no single rattling so far, even after extensive touring and riding in very bad roads. Dazzler is an improved version of Unicorn, with digital display, rear disc, wider tubeless tyres, O-ring chain, and minimal plastics.

And, please don't come again with comparisons; post here only if you need any information regarding the Dazzler.

                              • Hey Ravi you seem to have had an awesome experience with Dazzler and I really appreciate you sharing your experiences and knowledge with us.
                                Had a quick question-
I got 2nd servicing of my bike done today and it feels much smoother now!The only problem being the rear disc brake. It was working fine before servicing but its working very poorly now.The mechanic said that it would take a day or two for the disc pads to get dry as he washed the bike today and then the performance would improve. Is there any way for me to adjust/tighten the rear disc brake?
