Generally, with good maintenance the Dazzler's chain would last for around 20k kms. I had to change the chain-sprocket set at 20k but I changed the front socket to extend the life for another 3k kms. Now my bike's odo is 23k, and its the time for me to change the Chain-sprocket set.

But, in your case 12k is very early. There could be a lot many reasons for it (may be a rare case, but can't rule out service guys replacing it with old one for somebody else). The chain of Dazzler being closed chain, you can't remove a few links and make it tight.

For 20k kms, 2000 on o-ring chain is not a huge maintenance. Except this, there is not much maintenance on the bike. I have never got bill more than 1000 so far.

Apart from changing the chain-sprocket, there is no other way for you. Change it for this time, check the measurement of chain before you give for the service and check immediately after you get the bike back from service.

Regarding chain maintenance, I give my bike for waterwash every week. Pressurized jet of water on chain would remove all the dirt. I will allow the chain to be dry for sometime, and then use OKS chain spray. One spray would come for at least 500 kms.

O-ring chains are closed chains. There is no master link. And its the case with all bikes with O-rings. You can't open them. They are this way because of the o-rings.

I don't suggest you to use the regular Unicorn's chain in Dazzler. The open regular chains make lots of noise and needs lot of maintenance.

Thanks a lot for your inputs

          Thanks Ravi .
Even I was doubting the service guys swapping my chain, but i scrapped the thought because I have very good rapport with the technician as well as the Manager there.
I used to complain in every service about less pickup at lower RPM's, i guess the service personnel over tightened the chain and hence this issue now.

I didn't get this. Could you explain how changing the front socket(I guess its front sprocket) can extend the chain life by 3k kms?

            • Some stupid idiot today inserted a tightly and properly folded bus ticket in to the ignition hole of my Dazzler. I was a little away from the bike having tea. I returned and tried to insert my key and it pushed the paper deep into it. Initially thought its a small one and tried to mash it with water. Thats it!! It completely screwed up the hole. After lot of effort for 3 hours I was able to insert the key full into the hole, but it did not turn. I guess the mashed up paper went inbetween the lock plates inside and jammed them. I put my bike in the mechanic there for the night.

Tomorrow, I am gonna get a new lock set.

I mean front sprocket (typo error above ). It all depends on how much the front sprocket worn out. It may work or may not work. Worn out sprocket teeth also one of the reasons for loose chain. Replacing it MAY increase the chain life a bit. But, the replacement would cost your 100 bucks. Its better change the entire set.

Someone did this to my bike as well, but in my case they used a toothpick in my GIVI box. Luckily with a huge patience, i was able to pull it.. Some people doesn't know how we take care of our bikes and they just treat it as trash..

                  Sad to hear that
I dont why people would want to fiddle with others bike.
Some guy took out both the rubber buttons on my bike that we use to select & reset trip meter. To make matters worse these are not readily available spare parts

Sad to hear that. But, we can't do much for these things as the do it in our absence. My Dazzler was victim of many falls in parking lot.

The total expense for changing the lockset is 1300 rupees (1150 + 150 labor charges). The entire fuel filler cap was replaced because the fuel cap is hinged type.

                    • Clutch

                      Hi Guys,

I'm a bit bothered how my clutch is behaving.

When i Fully press my Clutch, Shift to 1st Gear, the Sound of Metal to Metal is noticeable.

This is also the case when I shift to 2nd Gear from Neutral..

How should I adjust the clutch? I just changed OIL Shell AX5

should it be going to the right?

                          • I also have an aug, 2010 model dazzler black, its giving smoke when revved to high rpms, I suspect the engine needs an overhaul, maybe piston+head change.. its run is close to 12000kms only in city.

I made a wrong decision to purchase a Honda, my earlier pulsar never gave me such issues even after 33000kms run..

Oil used was 10W30 Honda Throttle fully synthetic oil. There were no issue what so ever, however on crossing 11K feet opened up the air screw another two and a half turns.Total distance covered from Jammu to Leh, around Leh & back to Delhi was 2300Kms. My weight of 68 Kgs + luggage weighing 30 Kgs. was carried. There were excellent roads, as well as no roads in certain sections. On every single morning it started with the first 2 second crank. Above 14K feet there was a marked difference in power however not of real concern at that height as it was expected.
