I took it to a local mechanic. He said its a earthing problem.I told him to check the Relay and fuse near battery but he said its only earthing problem. He did something but now problem has increased.
Now it starts only randomly or if i push the starter button 5-6times.Sometimes even 12-15times also does not help starting it.
Whenever i push the starter button,I can hear a tik sound.
Took this to another mechanic and he said starter motor needs to be changed.
So i am bit clueless whether starter motor is the real culprit.

And also need to change the chain(22k),i have no regrets for this as this is the case with my previous bike pulsar 200.
I had the same issue on my 6 month old dazzler, a week ago. Getting the starter relay replaced fixed the problem. Costed me Rs.230 + Rs.30 service charges. Replacing starter motor is a costly affair I guess.

This happens with ma cbz 2011 model. But almost with the second crank, the engine takes off. . . so didn't cared much of it. . . Is this gonna be a serious trouble with Honda engines?

      • Sound of music!!!!!

        HEY GUYS!!!!
        i need ur suggestions pls
i am kinda tired of my bikes silence and so i really badly want it to roar
i was thinking of going for K&N but some ppl told me that it reduces the mileage and damages the engine (some ppl told me just the opposite)
i was even thinkin of a FFE(free flow exhaust) but the after market ones are junk and have the same effect as the K&N damage and reduction in mileage..
        GUYS PLS HELP
can u pls suggest me a way to fulfill my wish without the damages and much reduction in mileage????

I have had a lot of starting problems on my Dazzler before although now it's starts mostly fine. The last time I had got it fixed the mechanic told me that the above sound is because of the battery terminals which were in my case rusted. So check your bike's battery terminals to be sure. I was supposed to replace my battery although I haven't done so since it works just fine now that the rust has been cleaned although I can still make out that sound when I thumb the starter.

Of late, I have been getting the same problem. Today morning, it refused to start and recorded the following video to show this to service center. I push started the bike and was surprised to see how easy it was to start.

            video 2012 03 03 09 14 32 - YouTube

I took the bike to service center (JSP Honda, kukatpally) and the bike started normally without showing any issue. I showed them the video and then they opened the left side panel and cleaned all the contacts of battery and relay and sprayed rust off liquid and said it would be fine. When I asked about any problem with starter motor, they assured me it will not be the case and, if at all, it would be malfunctioning relay. If the problem comes again, they would change the relay.

Those who are getting the above problem please check the contacts of relay and battery first and see that they are clean and in good contact. If still unsolved, change the relay.

Well, as far as your video is concerned, it looks like a weak battery and not the relay. You can see that the display goes off/gets reset when you press the ignition button, which indicates a weak battery. I had this issue around three months back, it was because of a bad battery in my case. The electrolyte was getting leaked from one of its contact points, had to get it changed.

If you had seen the video full, you would have seen me pressing the horn, which is working very well. We checked the battery voltage too at the service station and it was normal. Anyway, they have cleaned all the battery contacts and the relay contacts and hope this problem will not come again.

Well, I saw the whole video. I exactly had the same problem. Horn was working for me too. Horn works because it doesn't require more power. But self start requires a lot of power from battery, you might notice even the display light and neutral light getting dim when we press ignition button. This doesn't happen when you press horn.

For me, it was a bad battery, it used to happen if I don't use the bike for 3 days. After getting the battery replaced, I never had this problem.

                  • Please help!

                    Hi folks!

Need some help. My Dazzler is running very badly! The engine doesn't rev smoothly at all. It sputters and the throttle response is very jerky. It appears there is some problem with the air/fuel flow to the engine. I'd really like to fix this problem myself even though I have absolutely no mechanical knowledge whatsoever.

I guess i will have to check the carburetor? What other things I need to check?

Earlier in the thread someone mentioned about TPS. Does this bike have a throttle positioning sensor?

Also there is another problem. When in gear the clutch doesn't disengage fully when pulled in. I found out about this only the other day when i was cleaning my bike. I tried to rotate the rear wheel by pulling in the clutch and it wouldn't move unless a lot of force is applied. This looks like a clutch problem. But I'd like to be sure before I try to open the clutch.

I'd really like to fix these problems on my own so any help is much appreciated.

Would anybody have the shop manual by any chance. The dealer here refuses to share a copy!

My sincere advice, just take it to service station and have them adjust the clutch and do tuning. They do better work than you with minimal knowledge. Everything will be alright.

                      • A tip

A small and most helpful tip for the Dazzler owners. As the Dazzler doesn't have a kick starter, now are later there definitely will be an occasion where you have to push start your bike. Its relatively easy and you don't need any other person's help to push it. Pull the clutch and put the bike in second gear, push the bike a little (around 10 feet with good momentum) and leave the clutch and it will start immediately.

                          Possible causes could be:
                          1. Carbon in the battery contacts.
                          2. Loose fuse
                          3. Carbon in relay
                          4. Battery discharged

The display blinking off when the starter button is pressed tells us that too much current is being drained at that instant. This may be because of any of the above, but the one to worry about most is the battery being discharged. It could be that the bike is not getting driven enough to recharge the battery. Driving it around a little will give it a boost temporarily, but then the problem may recur. The sealed battery on the Dazzler needs to be charged only at a low .3 - .4 A rate. This means a ride of about 20 minutes to make up for every time you use the charger.
Get out your multimeter and check the battery voltage before you start it in the morning. If it is below 12.4V it needs to be recharged. Warning: leaving the battery in a low state of charge for a long time will damage it permanently. Then it holds less and less charge on every recharge.
These sealed batteries are supposed to last for several years when kept properly charged. I lost my first battery within a year because I didn't know that keeping it above 12.4V was important.

                          • hello guys! i need ur suggestions for engine oil. my Honda Dazzler has just crossed 5K on odo and till now i have been using Honda 20W40 oil only. my bike is performing quite well with mileage of 52-55 KMPL and its very smooth since last 2.5K kms even on high RPMs.
now i want to experiment with other brands for engine oil. i will stick to 20W40 grade mineral oil but there are many options in same grade these days.

my requirements are smoothness and mileage same as or more than Honda oil and more revv friendly and responsive engine. in short i would like to have more performance while retaining smoothness and mileage. small compromise on mileage will be ok but smoothness is important for me.

all suggestions are welcome! also advice about from when should i start using semi synthetic and then synthetic oil?

Thanks for your inputs. After the contacts are cleaned, now I don't have any problem. But, I will take your advice and recharge the battery; in the last 20 months, never recharged the battery, and this may be the high time I do it.
