Btw. I wont prefer to use this AX7 oil in summers. Currently better go for a 20w40 oil like motul 3000 plus. You may try this AX7 10w40 in winters.
Thanks for enlightening this. I will use AX7 for next oil change which will probably come by Jun end. I really appreciate you for sharing your experience.

About Motul 3000 plus, have you used it personally for Dazzler? How it goes with Dazzy on same parameters?

PS: Since you live in Pune, can you please share with me from where to get Motul genuine oils? I can't seem to find dealer locator or any info about such on their website. I live in Kothrud so anything nearby is good but can manage other areas if its worth to.

    • After a long struggle, finally gave my bike for service in a Honda service centre.
I have seen big boxes of oil cartons written Honda OE oil 10W30 there. So i guess my dazzler will be running on 10W30 from tomorrow onwards.
What is the problem with this grade oil in summer and why did honda change their oil from 20W40 to 10W30?

Regarding the oils, I have used lot of engine oils in my fiero from 2002. Castrol is good but is somewhat harsh and noisy on fiero. Best engine oil i have used is Elf moto gold.Engine felt very smooth with this oil.
Ever since that i stuck to that brand of oil for fiero.
For my pulsar200, After 5000kms changed to Valvoline semi synthetic(Good) and then to Motul300V(Good but very costly) till now.

As Ravi and many other suggested,For dazzler its better and cheaper to stick to Normal mineral oil. For pulsar200, Synthetic oil is required as it has a rough engine, hard gearshifts and tight clutch. Running on synthetic oil improves all the above factors along with refinement.

Since mine is a used dazzler,I want to experience a fresh oil change with a OE honda oil before switching to other oils.

Yesterday I was told when I went to JSP Honda that they are getting only 10w30 and no more 20w40. Please share us your experience with the 10w30 oil. There is a discussion going on regarding this in engine oils thread. Please share your opinions and experience there too.

Got the bike from service yesterday and total expenditure is 4210rs.
Which is costlier than my car's two previous services.
Major share was hogged by the chain sprocket,i guess its around 2000rs including the labor.I have not yet got the printed bill as they have a problem with the server. They will courier it once it gets rectified.
          Bill details:
          1.Chain sprocket 650rs
          2.Chain 1100rs
          3.Spark plug 150rs
          4.Engine oil 200rs
          5.Rear disc pad 700rs
          6.Rubber 110rs
          7.Engine guard 250rs
8.Gast--- 40rs (not sure what it is)
          9.Consumables 40rs

          Paid service 220rs
          labor
          1.Chain sprocket change 250rs
          2.rear disc pad change 100rs
          3.Engine guard 60rs
          4.Clutch adjustment 125rs
          5.Tappet adjustment 90rs
          Total 4085rs
          Collected amount with tax 4214rs

          I guess its very expensive.

          Ater service experience:
Bike feels smoother as we have new oil and pick up has increased a bit.
No chain noise.that's it as far as the difference goes.
Engine guard suits the bike well and i feel bike looks good with the engine guard.

Got some extra scratches as bonus along with the service.
Honda service centre guys seem to be disinterested, lethargic with don't care attitude.I have to always add please sir, urgent sir,etc to get the work done.

Starting problem which i described in the forum sometime back was the main complaint i gave and they said it was sorted out,They sprayed some anti-rust liquid in the starter switch contacts and it started at one click for 2days but today again it started giving problems.so i have to press the starter many times to get it started.
Funnily enough,When i reached the service centre and tried starting it,It did not start at all,We all tried many times but it did not start,so they push started it and adjusted the loose relay and as of now problem solved...I am not sure how long this is gonna last.

Can other members confirm if the Chain+Sprocket really costs Rs.1750/- ?
AFAIK, It costs 1100 for a Chain Set (Chain+Sprocket)

            • All the information regarding the price of the spares is correct. Chain+Sprocket set cost app. 1800, being an o-ring chain.

I highly suspect the labor charges they qouted. Clutch adjustment 90 rupees?? Clutch adjustment, tappet adjustment, and disc pad change come under general servicing.

250 rupees Chan+sprocket labor is also very high amount.

@rock18, I suggest you to get the bill from the service station and shoot a mail to Honda.

              • bosch twin ectrode plug for dazzler

Any reviews on Bosch twin electrode spark plug (once which are OE in apache rtr)? I am thinking of using this in my honda unicorn dazzler. Is it ok?

                • Starting problems - it could be a battery problem. Mine started with that click-click sound of the relay. Replacing a battery is expensive and the service centre tends to blame the starter relay instead of the battery. Check the voltage of the battery. If it is less 12.4 V before you start it for the first time in the morning, then get your battery charged from an authorized service centre. Don't use an ordinary car charger on it, a low ampere motorcycle battery charger is needed.
If the battery's okay, then get the starter relay replaced. Shouldn't cost more than Rs 150.

Thanks...This starting problem is haunting me again.Last wednesday,i took the bike from service centre,They said they have put anti-rust spray in the switch contacts, problem got rectified.
After 2 days,Again it failed to start,Took it to the service station,They said its because of the loose relay,They fixed it.Kept the bike in my home on friday and did not take it outside after that.

Today morning,It did not start at all, after several attempts,I managed to push start the bike running like a kitten here and there in my street.
Today i will replace the relay at any cost and see if that solves the problem.

                      Hi,

I Changed chain sprocket set on sat after the chain setting had reached its maximum and could not be tightened anymore. Have done 26k kms on my dazzler. The chain sprocket set cost me 1508 Rs/- and including labour and normal service with oil change cost me 2300 Rs/- worth of service. I did not get it changed at a Honda service centre. Did it at a local service centre. He's a known person who owns the service centre. A Very good job done. This place is near BEML, HAL bangalore. Right now the bike's as goood as the first ride from the showroom.

Ouch, why does that sound so familiar?! Do tell if that solved the problem.

I need some expert opinion on this especially from the likes of Ravi & other knowledgeable members. I had posted this query in the universal spark plug thread, but didn't get a single reply.

                          • I have changed engine oil to Shell Advance AX7, 10W40 SS. Did that just yesterday and will post short review on it soon. First thing I noticed in 60KMs since oil change is 'ultra' smooth gear changes that sometimes even click sound doesn't come while shifting! Its too pleasurable while riding! Acceleration is smooth. Rest I will put later after running more on it.

Honda has started using 10W30 here too and I will keep myself away from it till summer ends.
