i dont think there is Bosch twin electrode/ iridium plugs(NGK) available for unicorn's specific heat range. i had problems with spark plug with improper heat range in the past. the manual suggests CPR8EA-9(NGK)/ UR5DC(BOSCH). however, there is a CPR9EAgp-9 G-power spark plug available for unicorn(platinum tip, NGK)

Bosch twin electrode plug is UR5DDC. What is the heat range of this UR5DDC & UR5DC(suggested by honda).

        • Problem in the 1st start of the day...!

          Hey Guys,

I am facing a small problem. Small because it only occurs the 1st time I start the bike for the day. On the 1st start when I press the ignition button there is no click click click sound that says the engine is starting with ignition . The battery is perfectly fine and I am sure the fuel pump also has no prob. Could it be the spark plug or the ignition timing? Cause when I wait for a while and then try starting it starts. And after that there is no problem starting the engine any number of times. This is just the 1st time I take out the bike to go to office. Any idea why this is happening guys? Please do suggest any solution or if any one has faced a similar problem before. My bike has run 27000 Kms and never faced this problem before. Thank you in advance.

PS its kind of scary too because we dont have a kick start. The button is start is the only one we can rely on . Ofcourse jump start it in the worst case

Hi! The most likely cause is a weakened battery. The pattern of initial starting problems and then smooth starting for the rest of the day sounds like the battery falling below a certain threshold of charge after standing for some time. You should first make sure that the battery is really okay. Don't assume that because the horn is sounding the battery is alright, the battery may have enough charge to sound a horn, but not enough to turn the motor. A more reliable way to check the charge is to measure the battery voltage before starting it in the morning. You will need a multimeter / voltmeter. The voltage of a healthy battery should be above 12.4V.

              • Quiry regarding service life of chain and sprokcet

                Dear XBHPinas,
I was a mute follower of this forum sometime back while I was researching for a 150CC bike. Thanks to you guys for helping me out, I have bought Unicorn dazzler after going through the reviews here. I have a query regarding the service life of chain and sporcket assembly. I have done around 21K Kms on my Dazzy. After a while it started giving a distinct "kluck" sound after and shifting from neutral to first and first to second and while accelerating in these gears. While on 3rd or 4th I do not hear the sound. I have taken to the authorized service center and they have advised to change the chain and sprocket assembly. I had decided to go with the replacement. I would like to know from the experts what is the service life of the chain and sprocket especially on dazzy as it is open one. Thanks for your comments.

Hi,I don't own a R15 but i had a pulsar 200 before, Dazzler surely has enough grunt for the city and its pick up is quite good. But its so refined that it feels like its always slow.

As far as i know,Life of open chain is less when compared to the normal chains,20-25k is a good enough period to change it to a new one.
Regular maintenance with the motul or ows chain spray will extend the life upto 30k. Whereas dirt, mud and non-maintenance will force yoy to change the chain within even 10-15k kms..

Thank you. Took your advice and checked the battery yesterday and the voltage showed 12.4, 12.6. Then took the bike to the service centre where I usually service my bike. He checked and told me the adapter of the spark plug needs to be changed. He said it'll cost around 50 Rs/-. Will post if this solves the problem or not. Hopeful..!!!

Very much agree to this. All the previously released bikes ( I mean all the bikes with the closed chain guards) didnt have to face this early problem as their chain sprocket lifetime was definetly more than 30K Kms. I remember my previous bike bajaj CT 100, the chain sprocket lasted for about 38K Kms. I recently changed my dazzler chain sprocket after 25K kms.

                      • When Dazzler is available with rear set foot pegs in other markets then why Honda didn't launched the same here in India?

It would most probably be a relay problem.

I have just completed 18k kms on my bike and the chain touched the final setting on my bike too. I owned a Pulsar 150 UG III before this and the chain sprocket on that one ran upto 45k kms without any problems... However with this one, just 18k..
                            1. Isnt that too early ?
                            2. Is there something that we can do to use a chain guard ?
                            3. Does the pickup or top end decrease with the bad sprocket/loose chain?
                            4. Does bad sprocket/loose chain tend to early wear and tear of clutch ?

Appreciate if someone could clarify the points mentioned above..

                            • ^^ well, my dazzler has done 25K+ kms & still my chain-sprocket are going strong. I haven't touched the final chain setting yet & i guess there are still many more kms to go before my bike demands a chain sprocket replacement.
As we all know these open chains requires regular cleaning & lubrication. At no point of time one should allow them to run dry.

                              • Hello!

                                Hello XBHPians and Dazzler Owners!

I'm a proud Honda Dazzler owner and this is my first post here.

To start off, I want to send out a huge Thank You to you guys out here. I've been following almost every post on this ownership thread and it has helped me a lot in making my decisions in buying this gem of a bike and maintaining it like it should be.

To give a quick background, I own a 2011 model "Sienna Red" Dazzler, purchased from Didar motors, Chennai. I've clocked just under 6000kms now (I know, it isn't a lot) which covers city as well as highway rides. I consider myself very lucky as I haven't met with any major issue with the bike; probably due to the good advice picked from XBHP and the net, and also responsible and diligent service provided by my dealers in Chennai/Bangalore (I consider myself lucky for the latter ). Nevertheless, I have had some interesting experiences with this bike, which I will share in due time.

Thanks again. Glad to join the clan.
