I know the answer to this one is probably no and no, but did you by any chance red-line the bike (rev it past 8k) or did someone borrow it from you (who may have done that)?

Either way if the rings have given away without any misuse, then I think you should make a stand and get an engine / bike replacement within warranty.

I don't see a reason why they would refuse this, as long as you have done your services on time.

Also, do keep us posted on how things turn out tomorrow...
Well, i dont rev it above 6K mainly becoz it hurts the engine and even more becoz it's almost time for the second service 23xx kms. Even if i did, that shudn't be a problem u noe. Coz i shared a unicorn with my frien and we both redlined it from the very start and it's still spot on. I went to the nearby service centre and it was still flooded ( it's in the cellar0. I had to tow my bike back again. I promise i get to the depth of this. How can a 2 month old bike lose it's piston rings???? I think i got a defective piece. everything on my bike juz seems to not work properly. and the front steering cone set also started makin 'clik' noises. I keep consoling me dat it'll be alright. and now, i'm losing it.

If there is something seriously wrong with your bike, it would have been precipitated in the initial run in itself. Was your bike very much fine without any abnormal signs before this incident?? Did you, by any chance, rode through deep flooded water and your bike stalled in that?? Did you check air filter?? You said there is white smoke, did you notice it before??

        • It's done only one service @ 5xx kms. The first service that is.
I rarely redline the bike, i'v follwed strict run-in rules. i never exceeded 50kms efore the first service and never exceeded 90 even till now. U dont hav enuf free roads in hyderabad to do so. The second service in near coz the speedo reads 23xx. I'v developed a sort of hatred for honda now.

I'm very much perplexed. I felt nothing wrong with the engine but the brakes wer rubbish. But i got abnormally more vibrations from the bike right from the start. No brother, i'v taken care of this baby too much to ride it in deep water. The more i take care of it, the more it ges wrong. And yes people, i did check my air filter. I'll drag them to the court if i hav to, juz to get this matter solved.

If there is something wrong with the internals of the bike, they would replace the defective internal parts. No need for you to go to court, unless they turn away. Very rarely you will get a defective piece, and that is why they give you warranty. No manufacturer can make 100% defect-free products.

I would advice you to take it easy. Lets get to the bottom of the issue and see what is the exact reason.

Sounds like you genuinely received a defective piece. Don't worry brother, I'm sure they will remedy your problem. Honda service may be slow but they still have a reputation to maintain.

Take it easy mate, sleep well, I'm sure this situation will resolve peacefully & to your satisfaction.

Great dude, I've completed about 800 myself, also loving the bike. No cold starting issues (even on rainy days) and gearshifts and suspension have taken a turn for the better after the first service. Overall, I would say its as smooth as Belgian beer ;-)

You mean vibrations in the digital console ? Take it to the service center, they should know what to do with it. They successfully fixed mine (by adding some extra padding inside).

Which city are you in ?

Lucky bugger ! The furthest I've had the chance to go so far is Khadakwasla Dam (near Pune). Whenever there is a holiday, some chore keeps coming up .

I need to know two things:

                          1) Did you opt for the oil "additive" during your servicing ? The one that is meant to improve your average etc. I was doing some internet research and apparently they are useless and unnecessary (some say they can even be harmful). I personally think its a bit of a scam to squeeze you out of the extra 200 bucks since they don't make much out of the 'free servicing'. I used to get them to add it with my Hero Honda and I have never noticed any tangible difference between having it and not having it.

                          2) Are you using Standard Petrol or Premium ?

                            • I am particularly asking them to use Honda 20w40 only. No additives. They are of not use. The engine is very much new and hence no additives required except good engine oil.
                            • I am using unleaded petrol only. No premium or speed. I am filling at one or two known petrol bunks only, where I feel the quality and quantity is right.

Overheating!!!as in when you hit 60 above on road u can either smell the heat(engine heat) or feel the heat during a long run??If thats the case then its common. As the engine is new it is gettin used to higher speeds.I've done 3000km.at bout 1500km evn i used to feel the heat.Dont worry about it.it'll cool down soon.Plus dont over rev ur engine unncessarily.Shift gears at around 4.5k rpm.If the problem persists as in engine gets overheated within 10km or such check engine oil as to whether its the recommended one or somethin else.
