Hi, I have recently purchased a Bajaj Pulsar 150 DTSI and have just crossed 100 kms on the odometer yesterday when I went on a ride within Mumbai. I faced some issue which has prompted me to ask this question. I have tried searching and found nothing.
I was riding my motorcycle with 2 bars of fuel with the fuel tap on 'ON' position for a few days. But yesterday with the same position the engine started running irregularly and loosing power while on highway. After 3-4 repeat occurrences, I switched the fuel tap to 'Reserve' and the bike ran without problems. Now this should mean that the fuel was not enough to be supplied through the main line. But the fuel meter still showed 2 bars. Later I refueled with around 3 liters and then the bike ran properly in 'ON' position. This confuses me because I had read somewhere on this forum that the fuel indicator shows how much fuel is available through the main line. And that when the bars fall to 0, the main supply is almost empty and then the reserve can be used. This is contradicting with my experience. Can anyone shed some light on the fuel indicator / meter reading and how many bars will it show if the main fuel portion is empty but the reserve fuel portion is full?
There is also a possibility that there was something else wrong with the bike which I was not aware of and it got resolved somehow on its own.
Note to moderators : I think putting all the issues, problems in the 'Pulsar 150 All Versions' thread in 'Motorcycle Ownership Experiences' section is not the best way to organize threads and posts. The better way would be that each problem should have its own thread within a sub-forum of a particular motorcycle. That way all the knowledge on a particular topic can stay together and not spread across thousands of posts and it also gives more exposure to a problem resulting a better chance of it getting resolved. Still if the moderators wish they can move this thread.
