Re: Bajaj Pulsar 150 All Versions
Hey bro, from what I could guess, the bike's running lean or the engine oil grade is not correct. Could you describe the tic tic noise? Mostly tappets produce sounds when engine is warmed up. If it's too noisy, ask the mechanic or asc to tighten the tappets. Make sure the engine oil is xW50 grade. Shell ax5 and ax7 are xw40 AFAIK. Use w50 engine oils. Use bike engine oil only. Also, adjust the afr using a good mechanic.Originally posted by Sreehari Nair View PostNo experts here who could provide me a help here....!?

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 150 All Versions
The oil grade is good AFAIK. Its semi synthetic 15W40 now I'm using. Shell AX7 is good i believe. I was using AX5 before which was 20W50. The problem still existed. The engine heats up too soon. Does every pulsar gets so hot quickly? And as the temperature increases the the tic tic is more like rapid kad kad kad. I don't know if its tappets. Could tappets cause overheating? And the kicker too sorts of stucks in between if i kick it 4-5 times (engine switch is off). I mean in between.. if i kick 4-5 times, the 5th time it would sort of get stucks and then it goes down and when released and kicked its normal and repeats again after few kicks. Its sort if easy to kick too. Is the piston ring gone? Or maybe bore piston damage? But it seems very unlikely at 26k..!

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 150 All Versions
Start with the basics and easiest ones.. Check tappets and tune afr properly. Check spark plug colour to determine the afr. If possible, post pics of it. How much kms has the engine oil run? Check tyre pressure also. If kicker feels free, check compression.

-check wheels for free rotation
-check the drive chain for over tightening
-check plug colour for lean or rich fuel mixture
-get the tappets set
-get the valves checked
is your bike burning oil or misfiring?
bad rings and improper seated valves can cause oil burning....

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 150 All Versions
Judging by the symptoms, I would say it would be safe to assume that either you're running incredulously lean or you have an air leak. That would explain the overheating which in turn causes the TIK TIK sound from the exhaust.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 150 All Versions
Well.. I get around 50kmpl. AFR cant be lean for 50 i believe. Could a clogged air filter cause over heating? And.. The wheels are freely rotating. Chain doesn't seems to be overtightened. Brakes are fine.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostJudging by the symptoms, I would say it would be safe to assume that either you're running incredulously lean or you have an air leak. Re: Bajaj Pulsar 150 All Versions
yes clogged air filter can cause heating prob. as it makes the mixture rich....air leak can also cause heating prob. as it makes the mixture lean....so check these ...

I will have it checked bro. But air leak from..? And also with the valves and tappets.. Could they cause overheating?Originally posted by art View Postyes clogged air filter can cause heating prob. as it makes the mixture rich....air leak can also cause heating prob. as it makes the mixture lean....so check these ...

So there seems to be a misconception here, let me clear that for you;Originally posted by Sreehari Nair View PostWell.. I get around 50kmpl. AFR cant be lean for 50 i believe. Lean - More air than fuel, bike runs hot, better FE.
Rich - More fuel than air, bike runs rough, shitty FE.
A better analysis would be run the bike till its bloody hot, then observe the tacho,
> If the bike fails to maintain idle, its rich.
> If the bike has an erratic idle, its lean.
> Blip throttle and observe the RPM if its drops fast, its rich.
> Blip throttle and if the RPM hovers, its lean.
I believe, I've mentioned most of the common variables.
And some more info, if its lean, the bike would run hot and wear down your stem oil seals, if its rich, your FE would be less, and if its too rich, the fuel interfere with the cylinder lubrication and mess up your liner.Motorcycling Experience:

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 150 All Versions
Can you provide a video recording, cause I'm still unable to determine the sound you're referring to.
And stop touching the engine, its not meant to be touched.Motorcycling Experience:
