  • Re: Bajaj Pulsar 150 All Versions

    Dear all,
so I managed to clobber together certain parts of various models of pulsars, discover 150(gen1) a cd dawn for hte front drum assembly ending up with this monstorsity, of which you would find an attached picture.

Now the issue is that I had overhauled my carb, replacing the diaphragm and the jets, however I guess I messed up the tuning and now it is running really lean, that is at full open throttle the bike jerks and refuses to go forward, in addition while engine braking, there is this popping sound from the exhaust.

I tried explaining the issue to the ASC mechs and they could not understand what I meant nor did the local mechs, I tried looking at manuals online for tuning the AFR ratio, but those too were too obscure.

So can anyone help me by explaining the tuning process? ( my meter console is also broken so I am running without the RPM indicator).

Is there will be any problem to do that ? Any engine or valv or piston damage ???

(Please answer fast i am waiting for your replay)
      -the mixture will become lean
      -water may enter through it
-dust will enter the engine and hence bore-piston damage

If your manual says xW40, its better to use Shell AX7 semi synthetic oil. Good oil

Anyways any pulsar owner can use the best suited oil Valvoline 4T premium 20w50 synthetic blend semi synthetic oil. It is the best oil for Pulsar.

Other than above oils dont go for anyother ones, even Motul brands (For 150cc), pure wastage of money. Valvoline performs exceptionally well. engine becomes very smooth. At anycost avoid Bajaj oil, Castrol.

Drain interval 2500-2800 Kms. (max 3000kms)

                • Help Needed: On Gear shifting and self start in pulsar 150

                  Hi All,

I have pulsar 150 and it has ran nearly 21k kms. Now I'm facing some problems it.

                  1. Whenever I want to start my bike in gear, it doesn't start. So, I have to bring it to neutral and then start it.

                  2. And also now I'm facing problem in shifting gears most of the times. It feels very hard to shift either up or down. And also when the bike is in some gear and is not running, it feels very hard to shift the gear to neutral. I have to make the bike move forward and backward continuously to change the gear. When I asked to a local mechanic, he told that clutch plates needs to be replaced.

So, please let me know what I need to do solve these issues.

                  Thanks in Advance

                    1. If the 150 is similar to the 220, then check the neutral switch. That is normally what gets spoilt and requires to be replaced. Once you replace that the bike will again start in gear with the clutch pulled in.

                    2. Check engine oil level, but that behaviour is unfortunately 'normal' for pulsars!
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

I stay in bangalore and mostly will use only in city limits so my driving speed would range between 40-60 kmph

                      Main requirements :

                      1) Handling
                      2)Comfort(as am 6'1)
                      3)mileage-45-50
4)Durability atleast for next 5-7 years
                      5)Low maintainance
                      6)
After Sales service & parts availability
                      and
am not concerned about Power and pickup
also is the gearshift change issue stays even now(common in pulsar ) ?

Will it suit my above requirements ?

pulsars will set you back in durability but it mostly depends on your riding habits...my pulsar is around 7-8 yrs old ug3 rocking....i use castrol power1 and dont face any gear changing issue...the parts are also economical as compared to others....so pulsar is right choice for you...
