    Hi All,
Getting a knocking type of sound in higher gears at higher RPMs also acceleration is not smooth.
sometimes my bike runs very smooth and, revs friendly as if it will cross 100 km/h in seconds and sometimes it behaves worst than a 100 cc. Can anybody please help. My bike is just 2.5 months old and 2900 kms on odo.
Get the bike retuned. This time, go to a famous mech , who knows his way around the carb and get it tuned.

    Cheers

    • Help with price!!

This might come to a few people as a :O but how much can I expect if I happen to sell my June 2011, ~11600 kms done, black P150 with everything stock, neat and in impeccable condition? FE has always been 57-61 KMPL since the bike is bought, all servicings done on time with no complaints whatsoever.

Guys, do we have any light pink colored tube hanging happily coming out straight from the Carb? I kinda noticed it very recently when my P150 went in for servicing. Its a very narrow tube, around 20 cm long.
Its one end is stuck to the carb and the other end is happily free floating.

Yes boss that is normal, its an overflow pipe - sometimes your float may get stuck/carb flooded and when the fuel rises to this pipes' level it over flows and starts 'leaking' out. (dont argue with the mech to 'connect' it 'somewhere')

Thought so. But saw it very recently. I guess it was hiding out somewhere or must have been pointing out the sky(seat) instead of mother Earth (stand).
I was actually amused to see/notice it. I was when I saw it and thought the mechs must have forgotten to attach it somewhere.

By the by, we have witnessed a few random showers in Hyderabad off lately and my oh my, a gentle throttle too makes the bike loose traction. MRF shoes are I suppose a bit too hard and I find myself in fishtailing mode always. I am taking HUGEEEEEE turns as if I am gliding over the tiles. I don't feel its good enough to change the tyres as of now, too low mileage put on them plus I won't be even getting any exchange for them.

Opened the air filter to check its health and my oh my, I was shocked to see it was drenched in oil, that too used engine oil. The mech had poured in too much oil as if it has come from his in-law's place. Cleaned it and poured in just the right amount of oil for dirt sticking action and chotu is breathing nice.

yes it poured a cpl of days ago and i got drenched at 4am (loved it though) .
wet grip is a debatable topic and i think it comes down to the riders' capability to stabilize the bike and brake appropriately.
this may sound stupid - i think the material used to lay roads here in hyd gets very slippery when wet , (ok ive had a cpl of drinks tonight!) and Ive fishtailed a few times in the wet especially on the kbr park - balakrishna house road stretch and almost hit two persons walking on the side but was able to control the wild skid (the rear was almost 90 deg to the front and had to counter steer) hair raising incident.

Had a ride for about 130 kms, two P150s, UG2 and UG4.5(mine). UG2 has got some real good low and mid range. It takes time to reach 100 though. 105 comes at 9K RPM, redline.
The astonishing part was, I struggled to cross 100 and then the max I saw was 110.
Recently did the 2nd paid servicing, and I swear, screw warranty. I am going for outside mechanic. Oil has done ~1300 kms, brakes are not engaging-wheels are freely rotating, Air filter and spark plugs are cleaned. Didn't had more than 8L of fuel onboard, it was not windy. I had already touched 117,119 and 123 speedo indictaed in the past. Today, it was struggling to cross 8.2K RPM or 110KMPH. :'(
                  Signs of aging this soon?

Sorry for the late reply Akash i wasn't active for few months .

Yes , the lathe work done . oversized to create new thread , fixed 14 size bolt now . No leakage now problem solved .

Regarding your query , i too had that experience in a long ride , my bike dint go beyond hundred , i pushed to 98 in 4th gear then 5th was struggling like 102 , 103 .
i guess that was due to wind , while riding in ECR area ! but the next day , that became normal , i could do 115 , 117 as max .

How is your bike behaving now ? ? ? have you done any mods like Sprockets or tire resizing ??? my few points maybe , checking clutch pad , tyre pressure , Engine oil quality and chain alignment !!!

@princesirohi - you are right sir , people from ASC told me that no need of changing the whole part .

My bike is doing good now. Noticed that I was pushing the bike when it was already HOT. The best time to push for a top speed is when the temperature is on the lower levels (ok, deserted patch of road which is known to the rider, minimal traffic, all the riding gear are mandatory stuff). I did go for another ride post that effort and did reach some respectable speeds. Quite happy with that but still it feels sooooo slow. (Yes, I am being greedy here )

i just rode a p150 a few minutes ago, Aug 2011 model (not sure what UG that is) and i noticed it doing 52kmph at 4000rpm - so i think the figures you mentioned are perfectly alright

And about the wet grip topic....i hate those default MRF tyres and tried my level best....killed the rear and front tyre at 10k kms.....by slips and dives :P
And got myself good tyres.....MRF Zapper FY1 90/80-17 up front....sooooo much grippy....and Zapper Vyde 120/80-17 at rear......though they are puncture prone.....but would love bruising my tyres than bruising my skin during a fall anyday.......love the wet grip....even the worst roads are cornering temples now.....

You can fit 120/80-17 with chain cover but it makes a noise in potholes and punctures would be a much big problem because of not having enough clearance for the wider tyre.....and you need to center the wheel.....also.. If you cut the inner groove of chainguard its fine but mud will accumulate faster than even an open chain..... I am using a naked chaincover from r15....and yes try 110/80-17..the cb dazzler rear....fits without any mods and is grippy tubeless tyre....
                              Yes 2.75-17 is between 80/90-17 to 90/90-17.....if you want a grippy front,use 90/80-17 FY1..the r15v2 front.....i got it for INR1700.....
