  • I had to again take my bike to service center for that noise coming from the tank. I had to wait for about 1.5 hours, but thing is resolved. They have changed a rubber bush beneath the tank. Now my bike is as smooths as before. Guys at Sai Service lower Parel were very helpful. They did all this free of cost.
But after this a new problem has crop in( although a minor one). My fuel gauge doesn't function properly. When I start my bike in the morning or after a long stand-still it shows zero bar and after driving for few mins when I switch off the ignition and the start it shows me the correct reading. Can anyone help me in this regard. Should I go to the service center now or wait till my second service which i due in May.

    Thanks in advance

        • Hi,
My bike has crossed 2000 kms and yesterday i took it for a 100 kms ride. On my way when I took her to 60 km/h mark the bike was making too much of noise as if I am driving @ 100 kms although I didn't had any over heating issues. Is this because my engine is new and has run only 2000 kms or is there some problem in my bike. Can any one help me in this regards.

The noise is not specific. It feel as if I am driving @ 100 km/h. and the engine is going to bust up. At speed of 45-50 the bike is smooth. Also i had changed engine oil yesterday only. As regards to service, since its a new bike the 1st service was done on 21st FEB.

Ok. Do check if the air filter is clean. Don't go by what the sensor says. Remove air filter and check.
And also do reply to 2 other questions
                1. is there any lag in performance ?
                2. While ridinh when you give tjrottle do you feel the revs building but speed not picking up ?

                Cheers

Ok. Check the condition of clutch plates. Might be a defective peice. If yes, replace under warranty since it is a new bike.
Cjeck with other new pulsar 150 the speed speedo indicates at 5th gear at 4k rpm. It's another way of checking clutch plate life.

                    Cheers

Compare that speed with another good condition bike and then give to svc.

                        • I got my Casstiel a servicing, paid one, based on the duration of 4 months since the last servicing and that he had already seen two trips to Warangal and Bidar on not so good road+a wee bit of offroading. Eevrything came out good but I was experiencing a kind of lag in acceleration in the first 3 gears. Apart from this there was a metal squealing sound from the rear when braking under cold conditions(mornings). After a couple of jabs on the brake lever, it was back to normal but I didn't like that squealing sound that usually comes from the Hero/Honda bikes (100-150cc ones). My friend had accompanied me to the SVC since he too had his bike serviced.

                          1. For the lag in acceleration, SVC mechanic told that the clutch has to be set again and taht required opening of the clutch case. I had absolutely no idea about this, so trusted them and asked them to go ahead. I was told that even if I don't do it, its ok. I was not so happy with the in gear acceleration so went ahead with it. Some gears inside were realligned and TA-DA, it was back to normal. Very much happy with the acceleration now. Same riding style but now I don't stay behind the 100cc bikes anymore. Little throttle input and Casstiel responds so well.

                          2. For the squealing sound, checked that my rear drums brake pads were past their life and that the metal-metal contact was producing the irritating sound. Got the brake pads changed at 11226 KMS on odo. They lasted quite well considering that for the first 5000 KMS I was jabbing the rear more than the front. Squealing is GONE!!

Now, post this servicing, Casstiel is sounding more like a supercharged engine with no turbo lag kind of feeling. Its a sweet whining sound which I can't explain. I know that this whining sound comes from the Pulsars which flaunt the Exhaustec feature but now its more prominent in a good way. The sound of the engine reminds me of the helicopter engine starting.

Getting a knocking type of sound in higher gears at higher RPMs also acceleration is not smooth.
sometimes my bike runs very smooth and, revs friendly as if it will cross 100 km/h in seconds and sometimes it behaves worst than a 100 cc. Can anybody please help. My bike is just 2.5 months old and 2900 kms on odo.

Knocking happens when you are in higher gear at a significant lower speeds, if I am not wrong. Its all about the air-fuel mixture mate. I believe you should get your carb tuned and air filer cleaned. I am suspecting carb tuning because that decides the amount of fuel going in your's bike's engine and by default bikes from factory are tuned to give more fuel efficiency figures, that is they are tuned to run lean.
                              Regards,

even i felt the same when i rode some of my friends bikes...the bikes were very good for the first 2-3 months but after that observed some knocking as well as reduction in FE !! this may be because of impure fuel, lean mixture!!so my suggestion is checkout the knocking after changing your petrol dealer and tuning the carb!!
