Bibhu, Issue resolved. The vibrations are gone to a great extent. Wonder how such a small mechanical device can create such an impact.
I now need to check the source of rest of vibrations - valves, bore or con rod.

I have ridden the classic 180 with a broken preload gear for 2 yrs.. Believe me, I know the feeling..

Check the engine mounting rubbers. They are the source of bad vibes on most old pulsars.

What is the best place in Bangalore to get a seat mod for Pulsar UGIII? Shivaji Nagar / J C Road elsewhere? I stay at BTM Layout and I stopped by at a local seat cover guy in maruti nagar who said he'll just add some soft cushion sheet and then stitch the cover on top of them which I wasn't at all satisfied with.
Also if I want to get blue parking/pilot lights and my stator coil rewound to accomodate a 55w headlamp where should I go?

• Electrical problems with Bajaj Pulsar UG3 [2008] 150 DTSi

Hello,

I have some electrical problems and mods that I want to ask suggestions about since I don't understand the electrical system very well.

1. As soon as I start the bike the left indicator glows on its own and keeps blinking at random times throughout the ride. Additionally sometimes when I use the right indicator it continues to flash the left. My mech says the electrical relay unit (has some magnetic alignment) that has gone bad and will need full replacement. I checked at a Bajaj SC and they quoted about 850 bucks for replacement / repair and wiring checkup.

2. I'm looking to enhance my headlamp lighting. From following different threads on lighting I figure that my best best (under budget considerations) is to get a Avenger 180 stator coil plate (which is a direct fit for the P150 UG3) and use a Osram Night Racer 60/55w H4 bulb that will provide decent output. Beyond this should I need a APE RR unit as has been suggested in some posts? What would that do? Also would this put pressure on my engine?

3. I'm also looking to upgrade my pilot and signal lamps and change the pilot lamps to Blue color. What lamps should I buy for this? I see Osram Cool Blue W5W. Should that be OK?

4. What is the difference between Osram Night Racer / Night Breaker Plus / Night Breaker Unlimited and where can I buy these bulbs in Bangalore? I didn't find a distributor list for automotive electronics on Osram India website.

Thanks guys

• Problem with balance..

hi guys,

I own a pulsar 150 ug4.5 delivered on 23Oct 2012.. Completed 18000 kms till date...

Changes performed:

1. Removed chain guard.
2. Changed rear tyre to PSD 130/80-17
3. Changed front tyre to Apache 160 stock tyre. ( thinking of changing it to Michellin Pilot Sporty 100/80-17)
4. Upgraded rear shock abs to that of Pulsar 220.

Problems faced which forced me to change tyres and rear shock abs is the balance. I typically felt wobbliing with pillion rider (weight 75-90Kgs). Took it to ASC, after testing they said all is ok. bunch of morons, later they changed my rear bearing (costed me 240 bucks). Few months later the same problem started again this time they changed the cone set. I had a engine oil leakage issue from the glass, which is meant for checking the engine oil level (changed twice , now it's ok) . Later I faced the oil leak issue from engine head also. Took it to local mech he has sealed the head with something. The bike is perfect when running in turmac it starts giving me problem when the road is bad or have small pot holes. I don't know it just doesn't feel like a single piece. Also when I touch my clutch for geag cahnge the neutral indicator lights up, as soona s I release the clutch it disappears. Any help????

Engine head oil leakage was faced by me as well. SC needs a good shouting to fix it properly.

About the last neutral light, did u check chain slack. Might be the gear lever is giving wrong inputs since the chain may be loose or wobbly.

Thanks for the reply brother... chain slack might be there... but my problem is I am not getting a good mech so as to have a good check. Problem with SVC is I have lost my service manual. Actually it's stolen in a mishap with some other documents, else I could have given them a good piece of mind since my bike is in warranty period. Last time I have given it to my local mech to fix the engine oil leak issue.. what he did is he created an problem with timing chain... moron! now I am damn scared about handing over my biky to any mech..... this sunday I am planning to open and check the issue myself.... chain slack I will check any other reason you can suggest...

Where do you stay? You can check with members for good mechs from your place.
I think the neutral light is mechanically actuated. So I cant think of anything other than chain.

I guess you can still claim the warranty as long as you have the original invoice copy.
And as for the oil leak, where does oil actually start leaking? Have you checked properly? Sometimes the SVC use wrong grade oil which results in such issues. It should be 20w-50 for your bike.

I suggest you to first clean the engine completely with diesel or petrol and then water wash it thoroughly. Then change engine oil from shell or reputed brand and drive around. Once the engine reaches optimum temp, check the source of oil leak. Check every 10kms you drive. Most probably the oil seep (not leak) is from camshaft cap.

Abhi,

For your first query, I can only think of faulty switch or indicator relay. Either case needs physical examination. A switch should cost appx 650/- or lesser and a indicator relay should cost only 110/-. Not sure what this 850/- is all about. Do not hurry up. Check one after the other. Ask you mechanic to swap the switch and relay from another pulsar and check.

As for the other 3 queries, I am really not interested mate. You are just wasting money. I'd just suggest you to get some aftermarket bright lights and plonk it in.
However if you opt to change the electrical system, also remember to change the reflector and HL glass.

Good luck!

Dear Rider Petrolhead,

Thanks for your suggetion, I will check with the invoice copy. Since first month I am having different kind of problems with my bike, like within warranty( in 3rd / 4th month) I have to change the left rear shok absorber due to some bent issue, though the dealer or the service center didn't provide me with any kind of paper for that. Well all this happened after escalation to BAJAJ only. Then there are lots of parts changed in the bike from outside market ( I lost the trust on SVC fellas), among which tyre change is a big one to void warranty, I suppose so. Well the oil leaking issue is resolved now as my local mech has put on some kind of patch up on the engine head (will update pics in sometime) , due to which the oil leaking has stopped. But in turn he fiddled with the timing chain, while idling I could hear the sound of timing chain. This weekened I am planning to visit a mech suggest by the tyre dealer who is a friend of mine now. Most importantly wobbling is a big issue which I am facing since long, sometimes major sometimes minor. My bike doesn't inspire me a lot or give enough confidence for a speedy lean in any turn despite the fact that I am using pirelli as my bikes rear tyre.

I am in a thought of changing the bike, as I ride almost 80-100kms a day , I need a good performence bike which will come in handy as well. I am in a little dilemma as I have loads of emotions related to this bike.

Thanks and cheers.

Well it depends on the service history and present condition of the bike.
If you are experiencing loss in pickup and jerk while staring from standstill then you can go for clutch plate change.
Since your bike has completed 58000KMS you can go for engine de-carbonizing.
If done properly, engine de-carbonizing is good for an engine.
Your engine will run a lot smoother and give better fuel economy.

Just make sure that the overhaul is done properly or it can do more harm than good...
4500 for clutch plate change and engine decarb is TOO much man !!!!
Are sure he didn't mention any additional job on engine??
In my opinion the entire job should be done under 1000 or max 1500 thats it !!
There are a lot of members here on Xbhp from Bangalore you can ask them for a reliable service centre...

hi Prabhakar,
I saw the pic of your bike and it looks great. I had the exact same thought of renewing the looks of pulsar150 2009 model. Can you please guide me on below questions. It will be a lot helpful people who want to do the same.

Foot rest Kit: Was the foot rest kit a direct fit into the pulsar150? or any alterations required? I really like this mod because it gives the bike cool looks and sitting posture is really comfy.

Tyre size 120/80: Given pulsar rear Tyre size 100/90, even if its a direct fit; in some other forum i came to know upsizing tires with same rim can actually hurt your tires and deform it. Did you face any such problems in yours?

Last question: where did you get this done? and just approx cost of getting this done..

Please respond to this at your earliest convince.. Thanks a million in advance..
