You can properly align the brake shoes by loosening the axle nut a little and then rotate the rear wheel and suddenly jam the brakes.
While jamming the brakes tighten the axle nut.
By doing this the brake shoes align themselves in the drum, and believe me it makes a hell lot of difference in braking too...!!
The noise can also occur after pressure washing the bike or if the rear tyre goes in too deep in a puddle.

Love the sound right !!!!!!!Its one of the best things about the 150.
I personally love the sound it makes while engine braking on higher gears....
I think the majority of the credit goes to the Torque Expansion Chamber(TEC) for the characteristic noise it produces....

Thanks bro. It actually cured itself with some dry spell in Hyd and some cleaning.

Oh and for the sound, I love it. The moment I thumb the starter, the sound is just too good. The humble burble near the exhaust tip is just sweet and post 3.5K when we shift up, it is just too good. I am quite sure I wouldn't have liked the Honda silence. Its not too rough and loud and neither too silent and smooth - Its just a perfect blend.

I have new Pulsar 150 UG 4.5. I was very happy with the bike, it has more comfort and best suited for me to drive in city roads. I heard from my friends that it will have engine problem after it crosses 15000 kms, and it will create sound problem when valves are changed or repaired. I am not a much of mechanical knowledge although i have completed engineering 2 years ago!!!! Moreover the silencer will be easily broken after 2 years. But tell me how to solve all these problems cos i love the bike and how to maintain it!!!!!!

Why write "I was" mate? Not happy now? Any particular reason or trouble you are facing now?
My p150 is 2 years and 4 months old now. I am not facing any rattling or quality issues. My bike's silencer still looks new, except a few minute scratches. Everything which was factory bolted is still very much in their place. I have done a very low 14104 kms as of now and there is nothing that is bothering me, except the power. I guess I have grown over it.

Hey man..what your friend say is, the quality of Baja products as it gets older and older the engine starts to produce more and more sound and the bike get little sluggish. Don't worry abt anything just take good care of ur bike from to time and love the bike as ur patter,I am damn sure it will love u back...

it is not always about CC but also about mileage...

                    Hello Good Folks of xbhp..
I am facing an issue with my Pulsar 150 DTSi. The battery is unable to hold charge. The previous owner claimed he had put in a new battery a little more than a year ago, so I am guessing there wont be an issue with it. It is an Exide model.. (Bikerz?). When I had TD'd the bike a few months ago, the electric start was working. My usage is quite less. After riding about 25kms or so at a stretch , the electric start works, but only once. Then it stops working again due to lack of charge.
However, the kick is really smooth, one of the smoothest I have experienced on any two wheeler, so no real complaints there. The horn sounds feeble for the first 5 minutes or so of riding , then its okay again.
The clutch action is smooth, much much smoother than my earlier bike. So much so that I suspect it might be on its last legs :P .
Overall though, I am satisfied with my purchase , made for city rides, mostly where a car cannot venture. The engine sounds refined and smooth, and there is adequate power(plus ample reserve) for pottering about town.

As for the battery, get it tested in a service center. Check the fluid level, it might be running low on the distilled battery water. If this resolves then well and good, else the alternator needs to be checked.

I need suggestions or work-arounds for "Idle Balancer Gear". The vehicle model is P150 2002 (Non DTSi model).
The balancer gear in this model is full metal. This picture should help. I am unable to source a similar balancer gear. At the Bajaj spares store, they offered the latest balancer gear (the one with plastic scissor idler on either sides) and guaranteed it would fit directly but unfotunately it isn't. The scissor idler is rubbing against the clutch bell. Has anybody managed to overcome this?

I've finally decided to cut off the extra lengths at either ends and install it today.
Please suggest any alternate methods if already implemented.

Getting angry at somebody is the same as getting angry with a bike that just won't go. You should stop and start thinking.
A good mechanic will let you watch even without charging you for it. |
It is funny to know that we've been imitated and copied so well
and surprising when we notice our mistakes are copied as well.

Thank you for response prince. If possible, do inquire as to how the latest balancer gear can be installed on old pulsars. I wish to take time, but for many reasons I need to hurry up today. One of the spares manager at Bajaj has told I need to cut the edges on either sides and install it. Wish me luck .

The first gen pulsar clutch preload gear was made of 3 metal pinions held by two springs mounted on a shaft.

Dtsi onwards it was slightly changed with a longer shaft and plastic outer gears. So you have two ways to fit this new gear.

The hard way, remove the shaft from both the gears in a ledh and install on the new gear. Its very hard to do.
Easy way: cut the shaft on the new gear to appropriate length and polish the ends properly and install it. Make sure that the cut shaft is exactly the same length as the old one.
