  • Re: Bajaj Pulsar 150 All Versions

    Hello friends ,
today morning i was very cold, when i started the bike i left it idle for around 4-5 mins after around 5 mins when i opened up throttle i started seeing the white smoke as i increase the throttle smoke also increased although there doesn't seem to be any lack of power or so. I'm on Motul 7100FS fromm past 3500Kms oil level is just above low

PS: Also having cold start problems have to use choke to start

    Kindly tell some suggestions

And yes today will be going to replace that Castrol GTX, My mechanic said he has a very god oil for my bike (Shell Advance AX7 Semi -synthetic) is it good or what oil should should i get in exchange

Bro change the engine oil to 3100. What is happening is engine oil is getting mixed. Also I suggest to take your bike to nearest SC immediate for any kind of piston ring damage.

          Two things brother:

          1. Don't switch to FS/SS stick to mineral oil, that is the one meant for our Pulsars.
          2. Stick to the grade suggested for your bike. I think it is 20W50 , if your bike is above UG3.

That's the thing I can suggest.

Bro I suggest you to take your bike to a trusted mechanic or SC and get your piston rings checked. And as per my understanding I will suggest you to immediately change your engine oil to mineral one of grade 20W50 / 20W40 , which ever is suggested for your bike in the manual.

7208205166. This fellow belongs to Motul directly. He is a nice person and will help you out with dealer or registered Motul counter.

                        Guys,

I have an issue which I think is a bit unique. Every time I rev up my UG2 2006, it kind of makes a clanking noise in the silencer. The mechanic says that there's some part of the silencer that's come off and is making the noise. The only option is to either get a new one or cut it open and extract the part. Is this right? Pls advise.

Well, it is a bit tough sometimes to get the bike properly serviced. Siton their head and ask them everytime to clean the airfilter although, if the riding conditions aren't evry dusty, you can prolong the cleaning interval. 400 is for the oil and it is kind of over priced for an OKish oil. Stick to mineral or Semi-syn oils. Full Synthetic tends to seep into the combustion chamber and burn with the fuel resulting in white/bluish smoke from the exhaust. It somehow eats away the oil seals so they might need early replacement. Try to get Motul 3100 or 5100 or Shell AX-5. If the manual suggests 20W50, then you can try 0/5/10/15/20W50. Make sure the value after 'W' is always 50. You can vary the numebr before 'W' to anything from 0 to 20. Shell oils are good per the reviews I haev heard and are less heavy on pocket too.

Before you raise a complaint with Bajaj, work with the service center and specifically ask them to do the things you want. Sit on their head and be with the bike all the time. Or switch to a different and reputed SVC.

The generation of your Pulsar had this problem of rusting after some time. How many kms have you done and can you see any signs of rust in the exhaust? There is a possibility that one of the parts inside the silencer might have come off. Show to a couple of other mechanics to confirm the common understanding. Go to a trustworthy Bajaj Service center and show them the problem. Do let us know the rust and replies from the service centers and mechanics.

Now here's the catch, my bike is just about to complete 13 k in about 7 yrs and 7 months. The reason being that most of my travelling was always by the Mumbai locals.
Recently have re discovered my passion for biking and the last 3 k was completed in about 3 months.

To answer the query, there's no rusting at the end of the silencer.

Will check this with another mechanic and reply to this.

In that case, as Maadyy sugegsted, check the loose bolts and nuts near the silencer and engine area. Best thing to go for would be to unscrew the bolts, apply grease/wax on the threads of the bolts and then bolt them back. This will help in keeping rust at bay. Also, even if the bike has done low on odo, you cannot keep the rust off the bike. There will still be moisture around the bike and they slowly eat away the metal. You are in Mumbai, so there will be significant moisture in and around your place. My dad's Maruti 800 was driven for only 19896 kms in 15 years and yet we had to change the exhaust pipe and battery three times during this period due to rust. Since you have been riding good number of kms 1000kms/month, there is a possibility of certain part to come off loose. Rusting happens at places where the metal is joined or stretched.

Also, since you have taken the bike out after so many years of low riding, get the following simple things done if not done already:

                                1. Change the engine oil
                                2. Clean the spark plug and air filter.
                                3. Get the battery charged up/changed if necessary.
                                4. See if there are any cracks or hardening of the tyres. If yes then replace them ASAP.
                                5. Check the chain tension and lubrication. Get it adjusted and lubricated if necessary.
                                6. If this is a disc brake variant, then replace the brake oil i.e. bleed the brakes.
                                7. Clean the brake pads and shoes.
                                8. Check if all the electricals are working, including horn, 4 indicators, tail lamp, headlight.

If you still have the manual, go through the replacement/change table of the parts. There is a possibility that few parts have to be replaced, mostly rubber seals and pipes. Use Mineral oils first and then slowly progress to Semi-Syn. Don't use Full Synthetic, not recommended.

                                Hope this helps
                                Regards,
