Hello mate. I believe the two you shortlisted are the tube-type tyres. If these are your options then Michelin is a better choice. My very good friend has the same make and model as shown in your display pic and he had Michelin Pilot Sporty shod in. I had a chance to ride the bike and my experience with it for that ride is good. I will suggest you to go for Michelin Pilot Sporty. It's very good. You may up size it too if you wish too. You will have TL tyres from Michelin above 100/90-17. Michelin Pilot Sporty with 100/90-17 will look little thin as compared to MRF Zapper C.Originally posted by dcrooves View PostHi

Thank you. Yes I so do want to upsize it to 110/80 - 17. Still thinking.!!! Depends on the availability here in Chennai. Had no problem locating MRF. But Michelin dealers, I have to try. Only checked changemytyres.com website. Have to research dealers. Any known dealers?

110/80-17 is available for Zapper C as TL. But I will always prefer Pilot Sporty over Zapper C as also mentioned by mate @Akash.Yadav . Going TL will provide you with lots of options , you can try MRF Vyde also. Pilot Sporty comes in 120/80-17 as in TL. If your bike is UG 4 or above you can up size it to 130 without any mod. But from my experience I will suggest not to go beyond 120. If available I will suggest you to go for Pirelli SD 120/80-17. that's the best for us. You can try vicky . in also. But I will suugest it's better to buy hands on rather than online , this help you to check the tyre during delivery for any faults or even if you face anything after buying you can contact the shop directly for your issues.Originally posted by dcrooves View PostHi

Mine is ug2 I believe. Its 2005 model as in the pic. I checked MRF 120/80-17 at a dealer. It looked too big. Will it fit my bike or should I alter anything to fit them. I think its better then to go with 110/80-17. Mod I think you will have to take your chain cover off to fit 120. Also UG2 rims I think doesn't support beyond 110. For fitting 120 check with tyre dealer , ask them if it will fit properly there should be enough distance between tyre and chain. Once I fitted Pirelli SD 130/80-17 in my Pulsar , the problem faced is after running 10000kms it started rubbing with chain. There was no issue with sprocket or so. So I came back to 120 and it's running perfect now. The problem happened because the tyre expanded after running and there wasn't much space between tyre and chain when I fitted it, though it was a direct fit with chain cover , I took the chain cover off.Originally posted by dcrooves View PostMine is ug2 I believe. 1) does 120size tyres fits well or i suspect i would have to remove the plastic cover shown in pic
2) which would be best tyre for grip (better than current zapper c)and should last long
3) what would be the effect on the mileage, acceleration, corning Engine life (Early overhauling, etc ), chainset etc

Yes you will have to remove it. Tough I did it long ago but from the gap or difference of tyre and chain I assume you will have to remove it. Best in 120 I will suggest to go for Pirelli SD if you can source it. Else you may go for Michelin Pilot Sporty (TL) or MRF Vyde (TL) (I am currently using it). There are other options like Dunlop , Contigo and TVS but as per my personal experience I will say strictly no no for Dunlop and TVS. regarding Contigo users of CBR are not recommending it as it comes default for CBR 250R. Thank You for your suggestion. I took the bike this weekend and they made some adjustments to the pads, out of stupidity, I forgot to ask what exactly he did. The wobbling from front wheel is now gone, I dont know for how long. He checked both the tyre and said they are fitter correctly. But after few km of ride, the wobbling started cropping up but was not so intense as previously. Took it to local mech and said that the drive chain-sprocket kit needs to be changed which he changed for 900. Still, there was not improvement in the ride.
Right now, I have loosened a little but the chain tension originally set by mechanic. Lets see if things improve or not.
About your questions :
1. Bike is about 6.5 years old, had run 77000 km. UG3 model.
2. Tyres threads and patters are OK as of now, they are about 16000 km old and may run another 9000 km; but I am planning to change them early but not because of this issue.

Hello All,
I own a Pulsar 150 UG4, its now 4.2years old and has run 25k+kms only. I fitted a custom exhaust to it recently and did a tuning to AFR. But, the bike backfires alot. I checked the spark plugs, everything was fine colored and the gap was also appreciable. I still believe the bike is running lean mixture and the carburetor tuning isn't working (did many times by myself & done by other mechanics too) Should I rejet the carburetor or shall I fit P180's carb?? ( if is it possible).

1. When you are fitting after market silencer , I believe you need to up jet and might also need to change the air filter so that you don't have misfire.
2. Fitting P180 s carb doesn't serve the purpose completely. You won't get much of increment in top end or acceleration, but in the process the engine will definitely be effected a lot.

Backfiring means unburnt fuel is getting past the exhaust valves and it's burning or exploding in the exhaust system. With freeflow exhaust system, the exhaust system can't keep proper back pressure which can cause exhaust valves to go gaga. If this is the case you'll need to change valves mate.
There's one more thing you can do meanwhile, you could try disconnecting or dimounting the reed switch which is mounted on the right side of carb. It turns on off by the input of the magnet located on throttle body. Just get it away from that magnet. I have a very light hunch that this may change the situation for while.
