Hey bro, I was referring to the sponge based airfilter. Its so easy to clean and refit it. It was brownish-black in only ~700 kms. Fresh intake of air has surely improved with the throttle becoming a tiny bit more responsive. Its a carb, so there wasn't any significant change but I coudl feel it breath properly.

Well motul 5100 is one of the best oils for pulsar
    How much did 1ltr 5100 cost ??
Current Odo reading is 16325. Changed it 2 days/30 kms ago. It still needs a run time to settle down so gearhsifts though improved are not something that is miles ahead of the old Petronas. Will keep all posted on how it behaves after it opens up a bit. A liter pack costed my Rs. 540. To add to this, I got Castrol Gearbox Oil, also known as 90EP oil for lubing the chain, 500 mL for Rs. 130.

There is indeed a system for filtering oil.

P150 has centrifugal oil filtering technique and doesn't have a separate oil filter. There is a way to clean it but that is one big work to open up a lot of big things, hence performed at long intervals by mechanics or Service centers.

130 at rear is the max you can go. But it is always safe to stay till 120, I tried with 130 but after running for around 10K the tyre expanded and started touching my chain. Pirelli SD 130 was a direct fit with the chain cover on. But later I took the chain cover off. 120 at rear that's the sweet spot. You may consider MRF Vyde for your rear. That's good too. For front you can go for Michelin Pilot Sporty that will cost you 2200 (TL). MRF Vyde costed me Rs 2500. Zapper C was also available as TL, but I don't have a very good experience with them in wet condition and in sand or little dusty road. Under hard braking or panic braking they tend to loose line massively. Also at high speed with pillion rider changing lanes becomes risky. Pirelli was the best I had but then 130 was causing me trouble. Vyde so far gives a nice feedback (2500km).

Is it advisable to have disc brakes installed at the rear for p150 '05 model.

            Burn some rubber

Once I thought of the same and asked a local mech and he told me it is possible but it will definitely be costly to install. Since for disc brake you need a different rim. Later considering the cost I decided to not to go for disc so didn't bother to gather anymore info.

Drum brakes are pretty efficient to stop our bike.
With disk brakes there are more chances of rear wheel lock .
But you can install it if you wish but it would be a costly fair.

Thanks maadyy & maninderz. I'll stick to the drum considering the cost. Btw how often do you change brake shoes. I change once in 2 or 3 months.

It depends on how you brake or your riding style but normally on my bike rear brake pads last around 10000 kms .

As mentioned by fellow mate maninderz, life of brake shoe depends on your riding style. Mine is still going and working fine (12000kms). Also drum brakes can be adjusted manually. So if you are feeling lack of bite, you can adjust it manually, if the brake shoe goes kaput you can understand that yourself.

I brake hard. I stop only at the last minute. So I press really hard and at speeds over 50. I use the disc only after I've pedalled down the rear brake. So maximum work is done by the rear brake in stopping the bike.

Bro I suggest you to use 60-40 braking. That is use both front and rear. Rear is actually used for shedding the speed and front to stop. That's the way I do. Even if I have to brake hard in emergencies or panic braking I use both. Use engine braking also, that is use less clutch during braking. This will help you to brake better and in terms it will increase the life of your brake shoes also.

That's how I brake mate. The back first followed immediately by the front. I'm not sure what ratio. I might be doing a 80-20. I'll try your advice of 60-40. I don't do engine braking a lot, only rarely. But there are times I try to bring the bike to a complete halt with the rear brake only. I'm gonna avoid doing that.

Hello, I posted a long time regarding purchasing a 2nd hand 150/180 for commuting. Knowing that a pulsar 150 in the rs 20k-25k bracket would be a badly maintained/wrecked one, how much would a complete engine overhaul (piston, camshaft/timer chain/ Sprokets/ chain/brakes) would cost about?

                              Regards
