I used it for 3 years without any issues. But once the battery gets weak then drain issue starts. So you have to be careful while using the HID. when starting the bike strictly switch off the light so less load on battery. When bike is shut dont use the light for too long. Sometimes here and there is OK but you have to be alert when using lights on DC which are not originally on DC current.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 150 All Versions
So I had modded my 150, the donor bike was a ug 2 with the ug 3 alloy wheels. I had modified as following;
The first being attaching a splendour set up in the front with its rims running 2.75-18 in the front and 3.00-18 at the back
The other modification as you can see above is the p220 pegs and brake lines taken from the new 180 [ this was before the 150 twin disk came about. I did this as the original mounting places lost their threads. Further at the back you can see the local shock absorbers, [ apparently used in the rx100’s but I am not questioning]
On the other side you can see that I have attached the RTR 180 kick to compensate for the new foot pegs and adjusted the rear brake pedal accordingly. Again you can see the right hand case has been taken from a new pulsar as I had lost the old one because it cracked. This has both the inspection window and the dip stick. Notice that the old cover plastic for the batt box is not compatible with the new pegs and the lower half had to sawed off and that the other one is a knockoff of the newer one [ the left hand side]
So these are the mods that I have done if anyone wishes to do the same.
What I am concerned about is whether I can run 3.00-18 tyres both front and back. I really want to standardise the sizes and that I can get the meaty offroad ones in 3.00 -18 config and not the 2.75-18 so often.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 150 All Versions
Kudos mate! This is what motorcycling is about!Originally posted by Manan View PostSo these are the mods that I have done if anyone wishes to do the same.
A suggestion from my end would be to drop the rim sizes to 17 inches so as to take advantage of the various tire options available in the market, the new CT100B comes with 17-inch rims on both ends, front 2.75 and rear 3.00. Plus the added advantage of acceleration would be nice, I would prefer to opt for drum's over disks on robust builds and I wouldn't bother with a disk conversion.
As for running similar size tires on both ends, it wouldn't be a good idea due to vagueness that comes along with upsizing the front, but if you really want to then you're in the clear as long as the rim size matches and there is no rubbing involved.
Do share more updates on your build as you go along.
Cheers,

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 150 All Versions
I understand of getting the rims, perhaps I will do so when the current ones go off, getting mechanics to do these mods is a bit of a hassle. The next mods I plan is to attach a oil temp [replacing the stock dip stick with a compatible one bought from ali express] the tyres, and the tank.Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostA.P.
I am also thinking of getting an upgrade on the lights, I hear that the stator/magnetic coil will have to be changed, considering that the bike is running on so many parts [ Pulsar, Splendour, Ct, Caliber etc both stock and knock offs] I think attaching an led main light would be a challenge. But lets see, perhaps one off an electric rickshaw will do.

Re: First time rider, need help with hand me down 2004 Pulsar 150 DTSi
Man, I know I'm months late on this, but thank you so much for the detailed reply. I certainly wasn't expecting it. A mechanic I visited ended up doing a lot of what you suggested over time.Originally posted by MidnightEvil Parth View Post1- Get the battery changed first.
2-Check for any cables touching anywhere, check the coneset and all bearings.
3- Yes 300 is normal.
4- Around 2700.
5- It is totally your decision
If I were you, I would get down to first checking the engine and all the bearings, bushes and foundation bolts and rubber mountings, if possible, separate the whole engine from the frame, check for any rusts and then refix them or repaint/rework as needed and fit things again with new rubber mounts and use a torque wrench for the work too.
Next, if the engine is good, check the carburettor and change anything that's needed after a thorough cleaning, replace diaphragm etc.
Next check all fuel lines if working fine.
Next up, rework, clean and replace those lights as needed.
Then do a full servicing, new air filter, pour in fresh engine oil, new spark plugs or clean the older ones.
At last take the wheels out, rebalance them or true them thoroughly and refit them, replace front suspension oil and retune springs if needed, new coneset and new rear swingarm bushes follow suit.
The cost to do all this will come to be around 6000 if there is no problem with the engine. Even if the engine has issues, new bore and piston kit costs 2500, so around 10k of expenditure will make it a whole new bike. And oh that reminds me, get compression checked too.
So for around 10k the bike is new, what next ? New paint and stickers follow suit.
This all will make the old baby run new again. But I would recommend doing it yourself or if unsure, get it done from a good mechanic, use all quality and original parts.
That's all.
Cheers !
My fuel tank developed 4 holes and started leaking all over the place so I got a new tank for 3.6k. The noise I spoke of turned out to be from some bearings
Now the front brakes don't work at all. I showed it to two mechanics and they cleaned the entire thing, added more brake fluid, etc, but the problem comes back in a few hours. They've basically given up and told me to buy a new brake kit. I haven't put a new battery in yet, but the RPM and fuel fauges work now. Another problem now is that the headlights are forever on high beam, no way to turn them off/low beam
I think I will sell this bike as I'm way too much of a beginner to maintain the several tiny oddities I've been facing. The Hornet 160R seems like a good choice.
Any suggestions on what I should fix before selling and what price I should expect then? Thanks.

After spending so much time and money, don't sell it off so easily. Bikes can be frustrating, trust me I have been there, but you are always just a good mechanic away from turning your bike around. If you were in Pune, I could have helped you out.Originally posted by kevinw View PostMan, I know I'm months late on this, but thank you so much for the detailed reply. Thanks, but I have 0 contacts in Mumbai and mechanics here don't exactly seem honest. I'll try to get everything repaired without getting ripped off.Originally posted by sdm_9999 View PostAfter spending so much time and money, don't sell it off so easily. Re: First time rider, need help with hand me down 2004 Pulsar 150 DTSi
Hmm, my friend is in Pune who works on all of my bikes but bringing it over to Pune would be costly. I am sure you can get contacts of good honest mechanics in Mumbai if you ask in the forumOriginally posted by kevinw View PostThanks, but I have 0 contacts in Mumbai and mechanics here don't exactly seem honest. Also, if we know what are the primary issues with the bike, my friend can help you give a list with all parts needed and their prices. That way chances of overcharging in terms of parts can be avoided to some extent.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 150 All Versions
TLDR: My Pulsar 150 gives a lot of firing noise (like gun shots) during the initial 7-8 kms driving after overnight stop. It rides as if it's running short of petrol and gives lot of jerks. It begins to run somewhat fine after about 8 kms riding. The same repeats when I start the bike after work - a duration of about 9.5 hrs.
Now the big story:
I have a P150 2006 dtsi model which was unused for about 6 months. I then made the mistake of giving the bike to a local mechanic (new one, with whom I haven't had any prior experience). He serviced the bike but when he delivered, the engine made gun-shot like sound and was switching off after riding for a short distance (few meters). They took it back and returned in 15 mins saying they cleaned the fuel line which had some water in it. I started riding it to office and again the same problem surfaced where the bike struggled to move and gave lots of popping sounds. I was able to drive it somehow and after riding for about 7 kms the bike started to run fine. This happened everytime I start the bike after prolonged stops (from morning till evening office time).
I gave it to another known local mechanic and he said carburetor is damaged and it needs to be fixed in lathe or replaced. The bike seemed to run fine when it was delivered but it again gave the same firing sounds the next morning.
Though I had spent 2450, I decided to give to ASC and did it. They checked and told me that tank is full of rust and needs to be replaced (5k) and suggested to check/replace the starter coil (sorry can't remember the exact name) CDI unit and they didn't have stock as this is older model. They quoted 2700 for it. When I suggested if carburetor needs to be replaced, they said they would've to approach the issue step by step and the first step was to replace this coil and check if the firing issue stops. Then replace the carburetor if the issue persists. They however cleaned the carburetor, replaced the air filter and made the vehicle to a much better ride-able one than earlier. The firing only happened at nights when I started from office and it didn't happen much in the mornings. Still the bike struggles to ride for the initial 7-8 kms as if running short of petrol.
I'm not sure of how to proceed here. I was thinking of selling this bike as I have a R15 which is my daily driver to office. I met with a minor accident and the bike had to be in the ASC for 2 weeks for replacements of panels, headlights etc. I wanted to take this bike to office which is 60 kms two way and was struggling for the past 2 weeks. Now I've got my R15 back but still want to bring this bike to good running condition so that I can sell it.Last edited by emkayindia; 12-04-2018, 08:26 PM.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 150 All Versions
If you raise the handle bar of the Pulsar it will become a commuter bike resulting in lower back pain. Lean forward position is best for avoiding shocks on the vertebrae. You can remove the clip on handle bar and swap the Splendor or bullet handle bar. A new steering base plate will be required.Originally posted by rahul29rk View PostCan I raise the handle bars hight of my pulsar 150 ug4.5 ??
Because I m not comfortable with stock position of the handle.

Re: Bajaj Pulsar 150 All Versions
Hello All,
Have anyone tried installing 17 inch rims in the rear for UG-I Pulsar 150, as I personally feel the 18 inch rim to be too odd.
Any one have tried that conversion, please update.Yamaha RX100 (1993)
