Re: Bajaj Pulsar 150 All Versions
Hello everyone, I own a p150 ug4.5 2013 model and this is my first post in this thread. My bike has done over a 35k kms running bone stock alongwith stock tyres and the chain sprocket set( no link cutting yet). After regular maintainance and sane riding still my bike gave up so early dnt knw why. The reason behind it is that the cyclinder head, valves , piston, clutch assembly, all gone kaput and is due for an immediate replacement.
This is how i have maintained my bike so far:-
1. Engine oil change- use mineral oil till 6k kms( changed it 6times in between at regular interval of 1k) , from 6k to 15k ive used SS oil ( oil changed at evry 1.5k kms) from 15k till now have been using FS oil which i have changed evry 2500 km. All oils being motul 3000,5100,7100 respectively nd grade 20w50.
2. Airfilter - didnt clean instead changed it evry 2-3k kms.
3. Battery - charged regularly and changed after 2yrs
4. Brakes pads - front changed two times being with a 15k interval, rear shoe changed twice.
5. Regular greasing of all the bearings changing them at regular intervals, tightening all the bolts, changed spark plugs evry 10k kms
6. Regular washing, servicing, cleaning carb, petrol tank , chain cleaning n lubing
7. My riding style- never cross 40 within city, always changing gear within 4k rpm,no half clutching n all, maintaining constant 70-80 kmph at highways during weekend rides. Checked top speed only once that too for a few secs and slowed down.
Now guys tell me have i made any mistake in maintaining as well as riding? If i have then plz tell and if i hvent then how come my bike gave up so early? Recently while riding my bike stopped suddenly after giving jerks and refused to start again. After going to my mech he started the bike by pouring some engine oil through the main spark plug hole and used the kick simultaneously for a few seconds. The next day i went to him a made him open the engine a check properly of what has happened. He then showed me that the valves had become black in colour , the piston nd the rings have worn out, the clutch still had life but i only told him to change the assembly. I know that if there is engine oil consumption or white smoke coming out then its reason is the worn out piston nd its rings but in my case neither there was any smoke or any mobil consumption.
One last question, as i am changing the piston, valves, clutch together so do i also need to change the timing chain, camshaft, scissor n balancer gear with their bearings ? Wont the engine make more noise if i use old parts with new ones like old cam with new piston? Pls guys help me out here im totally confused and need my babe to come back to life again as good as new.

Help regarding Pulsar 150 dtsi
Hello xbhpians,
I have a Bajaj Pulsar 150 dtsi, it is 8 years old. Need your help regarding below.
- Engine is very rough and vibrates, I do regular servicing, have changed the block and piston and i use Motul semi synthetic oil still feels a rev unhappy kind of engine.
- Pulsar 150 UG3 has a rapid oil depletion issue. I had found an old thread for this issue but not so confident about the solution.
Any suggestions from experienced xbhipans will we appreciated. - Not so important, but would like to increase the engine capacity only if it is safe and adviceable.
- Please suggest a good pulsar mechanic in Mumbai who can address the above issues/work.
Thank you
