I must say that I don't service my bike at a constant interval. It varies, sometime I go for it after 2500 Km (approx.) and at times the interval has gone upto 4.5K-5K Km

Now, my bike has got ug2 piston kit.

For Pulsar 150, the service interval is 2500 KMS, right ?

hey guys this is my first post in Xbhp post the server crash ..

          @mithun

any mineral oil holds good for the pulsar at the max for 2k kms..

after that u might feel the engine to be rough and ur pickup n mileage ll take a toll..

i change my engine oil at 1-1.5k max even if i use semi synths

moreover pulsars need their valve tappets adjusted for atleast every 5k kms, else u might lose out on performance!

          cheers

Yes, valve clearance and tappets were not adjusted for the past 15000kms on my bike!! I mentioned it specifically during the last service and they did it. Now the throttle response is better.

One problem with my bike. After the previous service, I noticed oil leak from engine oil drain nut. Tried to tighten it, but found out that the thread was damaged. So i got it re-threaded. But the leak still persists, although only a little. What to do?? Will using a 'thicker washer' help??

i think it s better u get a new drain bolt from the spares section, mate!

y did u go for rethreading in the first place?

btw where do u service ur bike?

AMBA bajaj is upto no good, cheapsters they are..

Re-threading was needed because the threads on the 'oil pan side' was damaged and caused oil leaks. The 'bolt' was fine.

I serviced my bike at Castrol Bike World, Mysore road, for the previous two times. The service advisor over there said that thread damage can occur in aluminium engine cases. Is it true??

^^^Very likely they cross threaded it or overtightened it! You have to be very careful about the torque when tightening anything... esp. when its alluminium!!

You should hold them squarely responsible for such damages! They have to replace what they damage.

ya 2K is very gd service interval period for 150cc. after that both performance & efficiency reduces.I do service at abt 2.5kms to the max.

                      Yeah you are right!!

Anyway, I got it fixed today. He used a thicker washer and some kind of paste before screwing it back. No leaks now.

                          Thanks for the advice !

But, how can I find out they whether they have adjusted valve tappets ? I don't trust the mechanics, that's why.

Not a good idea. Everything should be the way its supposed to be (like when it came from the factory). Make shift solutions are never a good idea.

Your problem will likely reoccur after sometime...

                            Btw, what kind of paste?

Its a Sealant. After applying, it gets hard and stays that way. No, it is not M-seal. It is like a sealant used with aluminium fittings.

Well, I'll wait and see. Will report if any problems occur. Anyway, what is the best solution??

Sealant is not a good idea. Will it even take the heat?? Chances are very good that it wont, and your leak will reoccur.

Best option is always to replace that part, like I said. You should have insisted on that the 1st time you saw it!
