+1.A mechanic suggested the same after checking my bike.Any idea how much does it cost coz I don't want to get it done at SS.

Steering cone is 200-250 bucks job.

No,I have checked it bhai, anyway I'll do a run again tomorrow and will check again.

Else, maybe engine oil is old. Also, valve/ring problems can burn engine oil. Do you see smoke from the silencer on revving?

My rear brake acts weird.Earlier it used to lock up when applied with force. But now when applied forcibly, the brakes come to the point of locking up and suddenly loosens up and slows down without locking. The feeling was like brake slipped, what could be the reason??

Sure worn out brakepad. Or somehow oil fell on the pads. Either way, replace them.

It is mentioned in the manual to use either Dot3 or Dot4.Which one is better and How much do they cost

DOT4, around 100 bucks, not sure..

Is it ok to use Power one in my bike.I don't know but I feel my engine is smoother after I switched to Power one from Elf 4T that was used in SS.
Earlier engine used to vibe a lot from 70K itself,Now after switching to power one I'm able to hit 100K with less vibes. Is that possible with Oil change or is that just my perception.
Any good alternatives for Power One Bhai?.Coz i've heard fake Power 1's are widely spread.

I too have a P150. The best low cost oil is Valvoline 20W40 or Gulf 20W40. Both costs around 200 bucks. Castrol to put it plainly, sucks!
    My answers in bold.

    • Thank you for your suggestions Bhai, today went to the SS and got the prices for the spares that I was looking for
      Steering Cone 250/-
      Brake Pads 140/-

Couldn't find any DOT-4 oil in my town, went around many shops and most of them had TVS DOT-3 for around 30/-.One Shop Had GULF DOT-3 for 32/-.
I'm not sure about the TVS one so decided to go for the GULF one.
BTW what is the diff b/w DOT-3 and DOT-4?? If there are any gains I would try to get one from out of town.

Throttle movement is loose, and it was ok when adjusted but again it was loose within no time,Would changing throttle cable help??

I'm planning to change the spark plugs as well,so went around diff shops and most of them had Mico spark plug costing 60/-.One shop had two models of NGK one is the regular one and the other is G-power NGK with a thin electrode ,which costs 140/-.what's the diff and which one would be better.
My bike clocked 7500 as mentioned in the earlier post so are there any more parts that I should change or replace,BTW My town is very dusty,So I'm concerned will this affect the airfilter as I'm not sure about the SS cleaning it.How can i clean it myself and what is the regular interval of replacing it.

OT:What about my profile pic?? It works in my user control panel but not in my posts what could be the reason??

      • DOT4 resists brake fading for a longer duration when temperature rises due to heavy use.

Don't know about spark plugs. I use a simple one.

Change your air filter. Forget cleaning! Costs only 35 bucks or so.

And, change your avatar pics in the CP!

My dad told me the same. Why do u need that stuff why not a simple one .

Hehehe one more what is this K&N stuff and how much of a performance gain would be there. If it is marginal,I'm happy with the 35 bucks filter
And, change your avatar pics in the CP!
No bhai, just visit my profile once.the pic is working there, but not in my posts

And BTW should I replace anything as of now as per regular replacement schedule??

          • Stay away from K&N stuffs. They are not simple plug and play items.

About your pic, no idea then! Maybe try with another pics and see.

Nah, nothing specific to replace so soon.

            • Thanks abhi bhai yeah I've been reading about K&N stuff just now and decided to stay away from it as of now.

I read this just a while ago and decided to try those G-Power spark plugs.
              http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/universal-threads/7456-spark-plugs-4.html#post208967.

I am a DIY kinda person so is it safe to try those engine oil and Brake fluid changes at home?
Just read about the front disc maintenance post by oldfox and decided to give it a try.Do you think it is better to replace brake fluid first and then replace brake pads if needed or do I change them simualtaneously

              • Change the fluids first.. if fluids fall on a new disk pad, it will lose its efficiency.. And changing fluids is easy, but getting out all air from the system is tough!

Get them adjusted every 10k kms with the first adjustment done at 5k kms. Go to the SVCs and ask them to do it. And make sure they use feeler gauge to do the adjustment. Most of them tend to do it by feel which should never be done.

I use good old Castrol 90W Gear oil. I apply this oil every 2 weeks.
