Hey, yesterday, I bought a bottle of valvoline oil, drained old oil completly and filled complete 1 liter. After riding for 4-5 KM remembered of checking the oil level.
The engine oil window is showing almost below the minimum mark already. when you tilt the bike a little, engine il is visible, but otherwise there is none...
has the P150 specification changed to 1200 ml engine oil ??
any similar experiences?

Did you check it immediately after the ride? If yes, then it shows faulty reading since oil has not drained back to the bottom. Check the level after about an hour or two.Originally posted by Nitin_traveller View PostHey, yesterday, I bought a bottle of valvoline oil, drained old oil completly and filled complete 1 liter. I have been using Gulf 4T Pride in my P150 for abt 8 months and i can vouch on its reliability. It is very good oil. 1Lt for Rs. 200/-. Engine will be smooth once you put this oil. I used this oil for a good 3000kms+ no problems at all. maybe last 500kms i started feeling that the oil is loosing its smoothness. i don't rip the bike nor much of the touring. it is totally city ride and about 1 long drive in 2-3months of about 200kms a day max. I have also used Motul 3000 4T Plus, this oil is also good.
You can use any of these 2 oils. They are worth the money.

Wat d fact?????
Recently I've gone to a oneday long trip around 390kms. I normally use normal petrol for my pulsy nd get a milage of around 45-48kmpl. But on dat day I was pushed to fill my pulsy with Xtra Premium from a pump on NH6(10ltrs) nd you guys do not beleive I got a milage of 52 around in that trip. I myself could not beleive dat.....
Can someone explain any reason??? I knw outside of cities the quality of oil is better but this drastic change in milage????MAN + MACHINE = MAGNIFICENT

On highways, you are at a constant speed more or less which means lesser gearshifts. Hence, better mileage, provided you stay below 90kph on the P150. Even I got 51kpl from my P150 on a long trip recently.Originally posted by koolbhas87 View PostRecently I've gone to a oneday long trip around 390kms. I have extracted 60kmpl continously by maintaining speeds of 60-70kmph.Originally posted by koolbhas87 View PostRecently I've gone to a oneday long trip around 390kms. My Bad experiences with 150 Ug3
I bought my 150UG3 on 7/7/07 and till date it clocked 7500 Kms,I use it sparingly hence the odo.The Bajaj service Station in my town sucks and I had bad experiences from them since Day 1.they never get my bike serviced as per the complaints given by me in job card. All they do is clean the bike and lube the levers and all.
From the very first day I had some problem with my headlamp,it suddenly goes kaput and sometimes it works correctly,I took the complaint to them they just said it was a loose connection and did something but the problem was not solved,I went to SS for almost 2 weeks everyday and every time they came up with weird answers but never solved the problem. One time they kept the bike for two days and when I came back the problem was not solved and on top of that my bike was used for some 150Odd Kms
.When I took the matter to service incharge he just took it easy and said it happens and smiled
,and nobody in SS was responding and infact blamed me that I didn't check the odo the day before and it was the same when i give it to them. But i'm very sure coz I maintain a logbook and I noted the odo before giving my bike to them.Irritated I took the matter to Regional service Manager and guess what now the same guy who argued calls me and says that some worker took it to other town for his personal use
.I was like WTF,but I decided to leave it there hence it was no use arguing with them,I complained about my headlamp problem to the RM and it was solved 5 mins, the culprit was damaged switch which came from the factory. Why didn't they repalce it in the first place
, why bother me for that long.
My bad experiences with SS continued like this every time I gave My bike during free service.Once they broke the tail section moulding clamps behind seat and made some temporary adjustment and gave me back.I noticed it only after I went home and removed seat to put back tool Kit.I went back to SS and asked them and the answer was expected
No Sir it was broken even before you gave it to us. WTF!!!!!
Also if you have noticed most of the the UG3 150's and 180's have this weird problem with LED tail lamp. The bottom LED's on one side wont work in many bikes,I noticed this only after mine went kaput.Well I took the problem to SS and they said that the entire LED Kit has to replaced since it comes in one single piece, thankfully they agreed to replace this under warranty but spares were not available so I have to wait for a Week,Weeks and months went by and I get the same answer just a week sir just a week.Just a week after my warranty was Finished, when I inquired again they say that it is available now and costs some 700odd bucks
.A heated argument with the management later they agreed to replace it under warranty. My happiness didn't last long though, the very next day some idiot banged his car into my parked bike and tail LED was broken.
I had some problem or the other with my bike till now.
Recently I took it for a long ride(some 200 ODD Kms) and a new set of problems started and my handle bar feels leaning to left a little while riding and sometimes during long rides it just gets stuck i.e i'm not able to turn the Handlebar the whole bike moves instead when I try to turn
.Even the silencer started to give weird sounds and when I inquired the SS guy says that the silver silencers had inherent problems so they were replaced with the black ones in new bike there after,My question is when they knew about the problem why didn't they replace it for first UG3 customers
.They didn't say a word when my bike was under warranty now they tell me to replace the silencer.WTF!!!!!!
Ok leaving behind my bad experinces aside can someone please help me by sharing some info on the following problems.
1).Handle seems like leaning to left and sometimes it gets stuck straight. What could be the problem and what needs to be replaced.
2).Whenever I rip the bike beyond 100K
some smell comes out from the engine.Like say smell of burnt rubber.Initially I thought it was tyre but came to know that some other 150 users had the same smell when they ripped their bike. What could be the problem
.
3).Brakes don't have the bite anymore so i'm thinking to replace brake pads.So wanted to know what is the avg lifetime for brake pads and how much do they cost??
4)Also what is the Engine oil change frequency??.BTW I'm using power 1 now for the last 2K Kms.
1hr passed by ...........so those were the problems for now. Will post some Hamara Bajaj experiences in later posts
.
P.S: A news came in papers(The time when I was running around the SS for my headlight prob) that some guy won a case against the very same Bajaj SS and got a refund for his platina. He had similar experiences with his bike & SS.When they were not responding he took it to Consumer court and Finally won.
I'm planning to do the same if they argue with me next time

Its really sad. I suggest that you avoid this SS at any cost.
As for your problem, let me try and help -
1. Check your steering cone. Adjust and replace if necessary. Check handlebar and forks for bends. Lastly check tyre alignment/wheel bearing.
2. Check if any wires/pipes touch the engine block. Check if exhaust is dirty and clean if necessary. Dirt sticking to the exhaust can burn off at higher temperature and cause this smell.
3. Change them and see. On the other hand, if the brake feels spongy, flush brake oil and refill.
4. 2k -4k kms. Depends on how much you care for your bike.Your biking tells a lot about the person you are!

I had no other alternative during the warranty period, I'm looking at alternatives now that warranty is finished. Its really sad. I suggest that you avoid this SS at any cost.
+1.A mechanic suggested the same after checking my bike.Any idea how much does it cost coz I don't want to get it done at SS.1. Check your steering cone. Adjust and replace if necessary. Check handlebar and forks for bends. Lastly check tyre alignment/wheel bearing.
No2. Check if any wires/pipes touch the engine block. Check if exhaust is dirty and clean if necessary. Dirt sticking to the exhaust can burn off at higher temperature and cause this smell.
,I have checked it bhai, anyway I'll do a run again tomorrow and will check again.
My rear brake acts weird.Earlier it used to lock up when applied with force. But now when applied forcibly, the brakes come to the point of locking up and suddenly loosens up and slows down without locking. The feeling was like brake slipped, what could be the reason??3. Change them and see. On the other hand, if the brake feels spongy, flush brake oil and refill.
It is mentioned in the manual to use either Dot3 or Dot4.Which one is better and How much do they cost
Is it ok to use Power one in my bike.I don't know but I feel my engine is smoother after I switched to Power one from Elf 4T that was used in SS.4. 2k -4k kms. Depends on how much you care for your bike.
Earlier engine used to vibe a lot from 70K itself,Now after switching to power one I'm able to hit 100K with less vibes. Is that possible with Oil change or is that just my perception.
Any good alternatives for Power One Bhai?.Coz i've heard fake Power 1's are widely spread.
OT: My profile pic is not visible althought it is under 100x100. How to correct it??Last edited by sriharsha_madineni; 10-22-2009, 07:00 PM.sigpic
