Yeah, Cadwell Park's crazy for these BSB riders. I haven't watched a single race since it's not telecast here in India. But I'm sure they would have heated battles there too throughout the British circuits.

I wish someone starts telecasting national races like AMA and BSB in India...

I have been pricking myself with this one again and again and again.

Well, it's not an OT. This video has John McGuinness and he was in GP500 in 2000.

well it's official now that sam lowes will join moto2 next year on a 2 year deal with some team whose name has not been disclosed yet for some reason..he made it official just now after winning the WSS title today..

Yakhnich Yamaha confirm Sam Lowes move into Moto2 | Bikesport News | BSB, MotoGP News

as someone had mentioned here before, yakhnikh motorsports team is indeed joining wsbk next year itself (as opposed to earlier plans to join sbk in 2015 with lowes and yamaha) with some other manufacturer (someone had mentioned here it'd be mv agusta, but i can't find any news about that yet).

he did say, on being asked by some journalist in the post race press conference, the reason he did so...

he said he was at the limit all the time and when he sensed marquez (who he knew had been anyway faster than him all through the weekend) was less than a second behind him, he decided to save some energy (he'd gotten a bit tired already) and tyres for the end in case he could stick with him (mm) till the end and maybe then fight for the win (i think he also said he wanted to study marc from behind for a while, but can't surely recall if he indeed said that or not, one could go back and check the press conference)..so that;s why he looked behind and then kinda sat up a bit to let marc through...weird shit, but anyway plan however didn't work out as mm was too fast, which he said he realized anyway, but he took a gamble...that's all...

I never knew this!

Article Date: Friday, June 29th 2012, 17:13 GMT

The MotoGP's Grand Prix Commission has ratified the end of the rookie rule preventing first-year riders from joining factory teams - paving the way for Marc Marquez to potentially move straight into the works Honda squad in 2013.
The rookie rule was implemented as part of MotoGP's 2010 cost-cutting push, and was aimed to spread talent around the satellite teams.
Moto2 championship leader Marquez has been strongly linked to a factory Honda seat next season after Casey Stoner's decision to retire, but had the rookie rule stayed in place, it would have been necessary to place him at a satellite team for a year first.
The commission also approved a limit of four bikes - two works and two independent - per MotoGP manufacturer in 2013.
It rejected moves to ban spare bikes and non-ferrous brake disc material, both of which had been proposed as cost-saving measures.

MotoGP officially drops rookie rule and approves four-bike per manufacturer limit - MotoGP news - AUTOSPORT.com

Can I say that the plot was set for Marquez to become first year sensation as Rossi started loosing his charm and Casey decided to retire? Can I call it biased decision of Dorna / MotoGp Governing body to change the rule when Marquez was arriving? Marquez immediately jumped on the Factory Honda and started winning, would it have been same if he would have rode Satellite team bike? Or is it just that he was plain lucky to have the decision made before his arrival in premier class.

PS: Please take it sportingly, I have no doubt about Marquez's ability, but recent incidents made everyone to look at all this from different angle. He will be a well deserved champion (?) no doubt about it.

lalitp we all knew this but yes the rookie rule was dropped for Marc when pushed by honda and Repsol. At the end everything is business.

and also the fact, as once explained in a motomatters article, that if they hadn't had abolished the rookie rule for 93, it would have created a bunch of contractual and placement problems with the satellite teams and their existing riders...so, as was reported, teams such as lcr and gresini rather supported the idea of abolishing the rule so as to not get themselves caught in a complicated drama..besides, a lot of people in the paddock (teams etc) and dorna anyway thought mm was deserving of a direct factory ride, so abolishing the rule just for him didnt seem like such a bad idea..and also, he isn;t the first rookie to directly have got a seat and established crew in a top factory bike...lorenzo, pedrosa for instance also directly got their factory rides (and deservedly so from their special performances in the lower classes).

which is why that rule is called the Ben Spies rule

Although of course, the Factory Yamaha team wouldn't have kicked neither Rossi nor Lorenzo for Spies.
