  • Re: MotoGP 2013 Season - Updates

Casey tried the production racer at Japan

    Difference between Prototype and Production:
1)Production bike has spring (rather than pneumatic) operated valves
2)a normal (rather than seamless shift) gearbox
3)plus the full standard ECU system (rather than just the hardware).

    Stoner :
"We also tried the production bike which was more impressive than I predicted. It had a similar feeling to the RCV but with a little less power and a different feeling in engine braking. With some small modifications I believe this bike will be competitive and I look forward to the next test with it! In general it was a good, but busy day!"

Scott Redding will be ridding the Honda Production racer in 2014 with Gresini squad.

        Yep, old news now.
Brazil and Argentina both new to the calender this year. The reason I read for Leguna being dropped off was that it's to costly for them to make 3 visits across the Atlantic to US in the same season. So the dropped it off. And Indi and Austin being relatively new are kept.

        Woah.....Talk about confidence..

Honda says the new production racer doesn't need full 24 liters of fuel for full race distance.

"To run the production bike with 20 or 21 litres is impossible. But with 23 litres of fuel on the production machine the rider will be able to use full power, so at fuel critical circuits such as Motegi and Silverstone, the factory prototypes will have to use a leaner mixture, so the gap between them will be closer. In qualifying it is different because the factory bikes can use full power.”

              What the....!!!

Forget lean angle, you've got to brake so early just to stay alive
And those guys are ripping through the streets like hell.

It was so difficult taking high speed turns when I 1st raced on such streets with walls - took me around a month to learn while playing MotoGP3 when I started winning.

But then it was still difficult to overtake on streets compared to closed circuits on the MotoGP calender.
@Makky - I wasn't, just not feeling like working this week. 1st week of the month. So taking up something of interest.

                  Its macau gp.a street race.
Actually suzuki once let Kevin Schwantz take part in the macau gp,in1988.which he won by a huge margin...and guess what he was riding?
It was his 500cc gp Suzuki.RGV500.the same bike he used in motogp.I remember seeing the race footage once and it was like rest of the bikes were standing still and Kevin was waving to cameras as he passed by.
Can't imagine marc tearing up the circuit on his Honda if he was to race here.or maybe he may not..the techniques being entirely different to that of a gp.

Oh, you beat me to it. I read this last night but thought about posting it once I reach office

But we all being into MotoGP can believe it cos we have an idea about the amount of grip the tyres offer and the talent of the riders. So we are aware that they would stick back after a slight flight or else the rider would be able to slide his way around the corner if required.

For other's it's merely a photographic trick, it's hard for most of the people "out of motorsports" to actually believe it

Though no lap times were revealed for Stoner – all Honda personnel sworn to secrecy, and no other factories present at Motegi to leak times – the press release said that he circulated at “high average speeds worthy of the RC213V.”
                                WTF??!!!

While the 2013 MotoGP season has been favored with fair weather, Casey Stoner’s testing duties for Honda have been severely hindered by rain. The previous test was a washout, and most of the last two days at Motegi were also badly affected by rain. However, the Australian managed to cram
