I just read Lorenzo's comment here as well. It's so disappointing. I had started developing a liking for Lorenzo since his heroics earlier in the season, but I can never fully get behind riders who don't have a basic etiquette. He's being immature and childish now :\

Lorenzo - “The Jerez action was a great show, and Silverstone, and Laguna when he passed Valentino outside of the track was a great show, so I think they should encourage that type of action to make an example to the young riders…I think they are wrong (about the one penalty point). They have too many penalties. They should have given him one more point in the championship!”

He's got his a** burning for the championship. I'm sure if Marc wasn't leading, Jorge would have been like "yeah that's ok, he's young he'll learn".

you guys do realise that he was being sarcastic ? perhaps because he has been asked the same question too many times ("what do you think about this penalty system" and such questions)...well i guess the motogp article doesnt convey that clearly..and he said some things more before the quote that that motogp article has quoted...something about how it seems people seem more concerned about the show and the safety of the riders is not given as much importance...and hinted at the inconsistency of all this penalty system by mentioning about marc's incident with wilairot and others in moto2 which were much more serious incidences yet he was not given any serious punishments those times...he said it right, irrespective of whether anyone likes it or not..

he also said earlier (before being asked the question to which he answered so sarcastically) that he actually thought that 1 penalty point to marquez was unnecessary...but conveniently enough, the motogp article doesnt think it appropriate to mention.

I enjoyed reading Lorenzo's comment, hahaha! He was being sarcastic in first place, he never encouraged MotoGP as a 'contact' sport. But if being asked same (stupid) question in every other press conference then I think, this response from Lorenzo is all expected.

exactly...people keep on asking this same damn question to riders every now and then...he (and others) have sincerely answered this and similar questions too many times in the past already...at some point the journalists need to be answered tauntingly by some one.

and also, it was so heavy with sarcasm (his tone and expressions) that most people in the room could be heard awkwardly giggling, rossi trying hard to conceal his big laughing smile and nicky smiling big...marc was laughing, then someone asked him what he had to say in reply to what jorge had just said, and mm replied "great joke" and then lorenzo said "no no it was not a joke, i am being serious"...lol

lorenzo sarcastically said what IMO needed to be said out loud by someone after all at some point...just to put it out there, if nothing else..and besides, they are competitors, he has no reason or inclination to be on the bandwagon or care about showing press etiquette each and every time.

on other topic, i was hoping luigi dall'igna to stay at aprilia (and bring their project to become a factory team in 2015 to fruition) and not go to the ever hopeless ducati...man ducati is so screwed in and out...few months ago they brought in bernhard gobmeier to change everything and bring in an evolution, not revolution, and hope to get back on a respectable track in 2014..that time gobmeier was projected by everyone as the man on whose hands the future of ducati corse lay...now he has been shifted and luigi appointed in his place...barely a few months to 2014 tests and everything, every other team bringing out their future bikes and planning their tests and all that, and here is ducati factory not even stable and settled on who the F is going to lead, manage and develop the whole thing...at the moment, and as always, they have no *ucking idea of what their evolutionary and/or revolutionary future bike is going to be like..it's the same story as always with them..

i am disappointed at seeing luigi change his ship so easily...i wonder if it's because of the cash (god knows how ducati has so much cash for paying people) that ducati offered him and aprilia just couldn't...or maybe he also sees himself as the one to save ducati from the ongoing eternal embarrassment, besides the cash of course..time will tell, but him remaining at his longtime employer aprilia and going ahead with their efforts and plans to improve their bike and maybe become a factory team in 2015 was something that would have been a much better thing for motogp imo (one another manufacturer)..with the kind of improvements they did on the ART bike, it was not hard to imagine next season or the next one after that the aprilia could very well have got nearer to (or even beating) the satellite yamahas and hondas in the hands of a sufficiently capable rider...

Ducati Corse need an Italian to 'cowboy' the herd. The German lacked the control that Preziosi had. Some source says that some of the engineers and the mechanics might be sacked. Italians are aaaaard nuts!

Shuffling in the paddock is common. And money talks.

BTW, did I read somewhere that Ducati wanted to speak to Furusawa about taking over the MotoGP team?!

that happened last year...preziosi and furusawa met and discussed bike mechanics et al somewhere in italy, but furusawa never showed interest in joining ducati, one of the primary competitors of his former employee yamaha where he had a great career (japanese code of honour and all that).

but yes, this furusawa rumour is surfacing this time as well.

luigi has more moto experience anyway, than gobmeier...let's see but i dont expect much from ducati anymore...i am just a bit disappointed about the aprilia thing...they might just pull off their plans of a future factory team altogether now..most likely they will, their chief engineer who led them to a lot of success just left for their richer rival company.

Just a matter of perception, I guess. I don't like Riders making sarcastic jabs at other riders. To me, it sounds unprofessional and just seems like Lorenzo is bitter as f**k over losing the championship to a Rookie.

Anyways, Latest from Sepang, Pedrosa has responded by topping FP1 and FP2 by quite some margin. If Marquez somehow beats him this weekend in a super clean fashion, he is going to be completely crushed. Yamahas are struggling bigtime. 99's time is FP2 was slower than FP1. Cal and Rossi are nearly a second off Pedrosa's time in FP2 (although, i'm just watching the live timing on the website, could have been a consequence of rain).
