Why so because i still remember that when r15 was launched, there was a big hype but it had its cons and that was the thin tyre at rear to which the person in question had given a very genuine answer stating this, that it had done it keeping the indian market in mind where performance and efficiency go hand in hand and either cannot survive without the other.

Then why after such long time would they still stick to their 150cc keeping in mind the current changes. ..
Well that's the point. When Yamaha is doing good in every other segment of their variants across the globe, they needn't worry about profits and cartons full of money going in for motogp. The CBR250 is out only because Honda wants a comeback in the markets and strengthen its hold in the market and be the largest manufacturer of bikes in the world (since 1956 that is). Besides, the Ninja already existed, afaik only exterior changes and slight changes to the engine and chassis design were made o the Ninja. So in my opinion, Yamaha really doesn't care if it's still a 150cc. It'll still sell. It's probably the best bike of its kind in the world!

Yamaha does care. They delivered the R15, not to sell it like hot cakes, but as a pure performance oriented machine that enthusiasts can enjoy. Everything about the bike only relates to Yamaha's pursuit for perfection. They took the small 150cc engine concept and blew Indians away with what that can do with it. They don't really need to do anything drastic with the R15. Unlike some of the other companies, Yamaha has different goals with all their bikes. They never have the same plans for them.
The FZ series was always meant to be a street fighter. They put the fatter wheels and the naked looks on it just so that it appeals to the Indian youth. Even that has a 150cc mill. The R15 has always been for enthusiasts. People who don't raise an eye-brow at its price. Its the best answer for a 150cc wonder. Period.
      D'oh!

      • I sense a bigger engine. Why? i dont know. Just somehow i feel this might just be a slightly bigger R series bike from them. Lets wait and watch.
A fact -- It takes more love to share the pillion seat, than to share the bed.

          • Grow Up guys

I am amazed at the amount of S**T floating around on this thread, we have people assuming that we will soon have a R-25 and then being so cocky that they feel its alright to assume that it will kick ninja's ass.

Grow up come on!!, if not anything less you guys are atleast in your twenties, stop behaving like teenagers. The reason why a ninjette delivers 33ps power is not because its not capable of more but because its governed by rules for learner bikes.

In all fairness I don't see a reason for yamaha to make an R25 for India atleast, they have got to make an international launch if at all they ever plan too cos in India the numbers of "r25" would be dismal thanks to us price conscious bikers while in Europe it might sell owing to restrictions on learner bikes, difference in performance would would be minimal because of the power output restrictions.

I on the other hand would be happy to see an R15 with cosmetic mods, its good enough a bike and can be made great thanks to our very own Joel.
            respect ma authoritae!!

Apart from being the name of the Ninja Forum, Ninjette happens to be a cartoon character. The bike is Ninja. This is a fact. Peace.
Pardon my lack of knowledge, but what are the "rules for learner bikes" you are talking of here?

                You have a valid point.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

I think he is referring to the rules that some countries have regaurding the power output and performance levels of learner bikes.

The 250ninja and some other bikes belong to the learner segment there hence the ninja is specially created to adhere to those rules and yet be the best bike there is for that.

OT: By the way got confused after seeing the new pic in your profile, previous one looked cool if not wrong then this is the 4th change in your avatar pic in last couple of years.
Got it. Looks like the inner fairings are different. Might be due to that burning problem where they called us for attaching that mesh.
I noticed that the latest R15 is coming with a mesh even in front of the silencer pipe gaps.
These are all small things, I'm waiting to see the tyre, swingarm sections as there are some doubts in my mind regarding this. I don't need to voice them out as they are the same things being discussed all over!
About the avatar pic, I'll change it back if you don't like it mate!
                      Quench my thirst with gasoline!

Well when i said they don't care, I meant not the bike and its specs or its down the line racing pedigree, but the competition. They are not in a bad position to sell bikes to make huge profits. So, they take time and deliver a good bike even if it's a 150cc. You just messed your thoughts, that's all. (OT: Besides you wanted to book a ZMR remember !)

you are talking like a child. if kawasaki can make a twin 250 with 33 bhp ,why not yamaha.because the r25 will be a complete track tool ,its design will be such that it will perform far better than a ninja with similar bhp figures. that is what is called tuning.besides i dont know of any 250 cc sports(track) bike. the ninja, cbr etc are all dual purpose bikes. the r25 will definitely be an international bike for the simple reason that 250 cc markets are available in many countries. the r15 will not make any cut in the (say) US market. but a 250 twin will.

superbikes are the biggest blunders on indian roads.
