Guys checked with few Yamaha Authorized dealers. Although even they dont have the exact information about new R15. But it looks like it'll be priced very similar to the old one. could be few bucks here and there. But not too much like 1.4L
.
It seems that their strategy is to fase out the older version before the release of new version (2.0). So could possibly the reason for a delayed launch. Otherwise who will buy the older version if both are priced similar.
Also if they price it like 1.4L, they'll loose big time. As most of people will go for the CBR instead. Why not get 100CC and 6-7 more hourses for just about 20Ks.

Can you please explain how a stickier/softer compound tyre can change the gear ratios? Stock R15 achieves 60kph @ 4K rpm. And do you have any documentation to support your claim that R15 will pass emission norms even in the higher state of tune?Originally posted by Samarth 619 View PostI understand that gearing changed too. Now, I get 50 kmph at 4.2 krpm, instead of 4.
BUT, I lost acceleration+top end both. First, I got the front tyre installed. It killed some performance. Then the rear one was installed and it was the bomb! It killed more performance notably....
Grip was very good, but performance sucked, which proves that the older R15 is always running under pressure, due to the tyres itself!
If you don't believe me, get R15 tyres installed on any 150/ 180 and see the difference. I triple checked before speaking on Xbhp.
@ Joel: Bro, if you're reading this, kindly confirm my observation. Personally, I am damn sure about this. There's no longer any doubt.
R15 is a Fuel Injected bike, not a carburetted one. It met Bharat III standards easily, when only Bharat II was required.
And in both Bharat III and Euro III emission Standards, emissions are measured at a constant speed, which is 90 kmph for Bharat (and 120 kmph for Euro). R15 can easily pass it, even if you give it higher bhp through tuning.
Exactly my point.Originally posted by Wanted DoA View PostAgain no personal offence Samarth but I found you theory baseless. I'm not saying you are lying but I cant really believe your statement. If I'm wrong I'd like to be enlightened with some real facts.
I had discussions with engineers and top dogs of Yamaha several times regarding the possibility of a bigger engine in R15 is future but it was always denied. As per them, R15 is a complete product in itself and not a platform like Pulsar family which are engineered for engines with different capacity. As and when they'll launch a motorcycle with a bigger engine, it'd again be a completely new product. Since Yamaha has already announced that its R15 V2.0, I believe speculations for a bigger engine have to be ignored. What we still can expect is a bump in power due to Remapped ECU, high lift cams, different air filter and reworked exhaust which again seems difficult keeping in mind that Yamaha wants to keep the price unchanged or may even reduce it.Originally posted by x-force View PostGuys checked with few Yamaha Authorized dealers. I think he is talking about a different speedometer reading with a tyre of different profile.
Let us see how much of power bump. I really dont see it outperforming the current R15. If it does, great job Yamaha

The only thing that keeps me away from buying an R15 is the height of the bike. Doesnt suit my 6.2 230 pound frame
I really wished they would launch a 250cc bigger sized fully faired bike like the R15 soon but i guess even if Yamaha goes 250cc it would be in the form of a naked FZ and not a fully faired bike like the R15
Cost cutting process is a *****Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

R15 already has a lower profile tyre at rear as compared to most other 150s, except FZ16/FZ-S/Fazer.Originally posted by abhi_underdog View PostI think he is talking about a different speedometer reading with a tyre of different profile.

There are speculations of 19bhp and 21bhp in the market. Increasing the power means compromising further on the already not so great low end torque.

As suggested by your profile pic, you already own a Ninja. Why would you want an R15?Originally posted by Nithesh View PostThe only thing that keeps me away from buying an R15 is the height of the bike. Doesnt suit my 6.2 230 pound frame

Err no.Originally posted by Vikas the Shokeen biker View PostAs suggested by your profile pic, you already own a Ninja. Why would you want an R15?
That ZX-10R doesnt belong to ME
I just got an opportunity to ride it once thanks to this humble owner who lives in the same apartment as my bro-in-law and is a mutual friend.]
He now owns a brand new 2011 FZ-1 too
I recently put my money on the CBR which is about umm a month away from coming home. But i am patiently keeping my eye out on the new R15 aswell. And also hoping Yamaha catches everyone offguard and announces a 250 anytime soon which is when i will have a HUGE Grin on my face and skip the Honda and wait even it it takes me another full year
For some unknown reason i like the refinement of the Yamaha a bit over the Honda hence my sad story
6 feet is pretty much okay. anything beyond that and the bike will certainly look like a pocket bike between thy legs :POriginally posted by kwacker View Posti myself m a good 6 ft and some inches tall ... weighing at a 85kgs...i am really not sure how comfortable will the bike be???? or will it look like a toy???Last edited by Nithesh; 08-31-2011, 11:45 PM.Got a $5 head? R15 shares its roots with the Vixion from Indonesia which again is based on the T135 step-thru which is widely available in Indonesia and Malaysia. While Yamaha claims that its a complete product built ground up for India (fairing design onlyOriginally posted by Vikas the Shokeen biker View PostI had discussions with engineers and top dogs of Yamaha several times regarding the possibility of a bigger engine in R15 is future but it was always denied. ) it is anything but that.
R15 shares many of its components, chassis and cycle parts with the Indonesian Vixion but apparently makes slightly more power in its form in India. It derives its roots from the T135 platform which in our case has served to be an excellent platform for a small capacity 4 valve 4 stroke engine. And all our 20P batch bikes had several components, cycle parts etc imported from Indonesia and Singapore notably the engines

Talking about the diameter here..taller Tyre will show lesser speed than the default one at the same RPM. So what Samarth said is possible.Originally posted by Vikas the Shokeen biker View PostR15 already has a lower profile tyre at rear as compared to most other 150s, except FZ16/FZ-S/Fazer.

21BHP air filter, ecu remapping, high lift cams and exhaust? keeping in mind noise/emission norms, aint it a little too optimistic?sigpic
