    Exactly my point.
Ok, read my reply carefully so you don't get confused.

Firstly, I did NOT say that sticky tyres change gear ratios.
It just happened in my specific case, as 100/80 (R15's tyre) was smaller in profile, than 100/90 (stock Pulsar's tyre) which made my bike undergeared.

Also, I just said that very-sticky tyres decrease the performance of the vehicle in terms of 0-60 kmph, roll ons, etc. because they provide more stickiness and resistance to move forward.
A soft tyre is like a bubble gum, its so sticky that it becomes difficult to push it, but it does give grip nonetheless.

Secondly, I don't have any such "documentation", but do you really think that in an era of carburetted bikes, a fuel injected bike will have a problem passing emission norms?
To give you a small idea, Fi reduces pollution by around 60-80% compared to Carburetted bikes.
You know YZF R6 and ZX 6R? Such a high state of tune and 16,000 rpm revving, still they both pass Euro III in many countries, probably due to an exhaust change every few years or so.

BS II is just a small standard compared to Euro III. Give the R15 a proper exhaust and it will pass the standard easily..

And I wonder why is Joel bro not replying? I sent him a PM too... He knows everyone will trust him rather than me..

It's the opposite. Taller tyres will show more speed than smaller profile tyres, at a particular rpm "X".

    • I don't understand whats so rocket science in understanding what Samarth has to say about the R15 tyre performance.
Though all this is OT, and was said as an FYi, it still seems to be going to long.

I hope the next time I check this thread I get something new on the R15 (as the topic says)
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

      • Been one of the yamaha dealer in mumbai - vikhroli to be precise. The manager there has no clue on the new bike. Says there is no such intimation to them. Also he was hell bent to sell the old R15 and said you can expect next day delivery.

It seemed to me that he was trying hard to sell off his old stock. To tell you - I would not mind buying the old stock from the dealer if there is a heavy discount post the launch of the R15 v2.

        • Exactly. I too feel that they will price the new version on par with the old one. That's why dealers are not willing to share any information on new bike and spreading rumors that it'll be 1.3 or 1.4L.

Yamaha is smart enough to understand that this is still a 150CC bike so the pricing shouldn't be more than the current one. Which for many is still overpriced.

Kudos to them if they reduce it a bit...

So 5 more days to go...

Would be fantastic if they can reduce the price from the existing one...that would certainly mean the dealers will have to sell the existing stock at discounted prices !!

Please don't use SMS slang language people...that's against xbhp rules...also...no need to speculate any more on the new R15...wait for another 5 days and you will have your answers..

Also, don't compare the R15 with CBR250R...they are different bikes and should not be compared directly...
Signals which are timed for 50 Kmph are also timed for 100 Kmph :)

                  • There is no point speculating for this bike anymore. I'm just waiting for September 6.

                      • The bike is 19ps, with 2Nm extra torque. Bore&stroke angles changed by 0.5mm.
Weight is less by just about 1kg.
Should have better low end response with the extra torque at hand+sprocketing changes.
Top end should be about the same or maybe slightly higher.

Weight is 135-137kg for sure ( information from trainings ).Power & torque not confirmed as it has'nt even been told to the mechanics & all the said figures are just speculations although you may expect little bit increase in bhp & torque as the ecu is changed but practically speaking i dont think bhp would be above 18-19 bhp.Sprocket as mentioned by me earlier is 47 teeth compared to 42 teeth.
