I took a TD of the P220 in the showroom. The executive said that there are only 2 bikes left and I can take the delivery immediately. But if I dont, then I ll have to wait for 1.5 to 2 months for the new stock to come. I asked him if the new stock comes with more features. He was mum. Obviously because he wanted to sell these two off.
Coming to the small TD of about 5 KM, here is my feeling
- The sound of the bike was loud and did not feel refined
- The acceleration was good. I come from the commuter segment. So it should be good.
- It had toe shifters only. Thats OK but the pegs were very small and quite uncomfortable.
- The guy said the speedometer starts blinking after 120 KMPH as a warning. That is good.
- There was no feedback from the brakes. Generally in other Pulsars or drum brakes, when the brake is pressed, you will know how much pressure is applied on the brake at what lever position. This was not there.
- This machine offers a lot of technological features for the price point. Oil cooled engine, FI, projectors, dual Brembo discs and gas shocks. That was very good.
Over all, I decided to wait and see what comes up in the next few months.2004 Bajaj Discover 125 DTSi - 26000 KM - Sold

^ As far as I knew, the FI version is not available. Did you ride the Fuel Injected one?
In my experience the FI is more smoother than the carb version.
My wishlist for the new Pulsars:
1:I have a 4 year old 220FI. Which I rip everyday. I commute on highway everyday. The bike is almost at 100 for like 15 mins. The feeling that I get is that of being unstable. So the new version should have beefier forks and tyres for a secure feel at high speeds.
2: The engine feels stressed at higher rpms. Maybe they should do a good tuning of the balancer inside the engine. Vibes at high speeds.
3:Handling should be improved. The current models are top heavy. And they show the tendency to tip over at the slightest provocation. I feel scared while cornering on this one. The Ninja feels so stable while cornering. So the seat height and overall height should be low. Center of gravity should be lower.
4:Only good thing is that even ripping my 30,000 kms Pulsar everyday, she still hits 130 with ease. Engine is ok. Better grippier tyres will be welcome.
Lets hope that Bajaj doesn't take us for a ride [pun intended]

As far as I heard, it is just a new colour variant to clear up the old stocks. I is already on sale. Whatever stock is left, it is sold off like this. Only then may be they will announce the new ones.Originally posted by vinbex View Postthe new pulsar,(i mean the one with the black combo color scheme),has it startd going on sale???2004 Bajaj Discover 125 DTSi - 26000 KM - Sold

It handles well than the fi but still the handling has to improve in pulsars & engine doesnt feel stressed or out of power at higher rpms like my old fi.
The present pulsars has improved a lot in some departments but the bajaj should still concentrate on the main areas like engine refinement, engine vibs and the damm irritating fairing vibs.
Lets hope that the bajaj clears out all these minor problems in the upcoming pulsars
& fully satisfies the feature pulsarians

OK. So we both agree that the FI is inferior in handling.Originally posted by truelypulsarian View PostAs per my personal experience my current 220 dtsi is smoother than my previous 220fi.

I have not ridden the carb version extensively so can't comment on the handling bit.
I want the new 220 to be better than the old one by a large margin.
Cheers!

The coming 220 should be liquid cooled,4valve & 250 cc bajaj should train their svc people properly & the service centers also needes improvement because most of the people dont buy pulsars only because of the service offered by the bajaj.Originally posted by nitrosatya View PostOK. One interesting point to consider about next gen pulsars is styling, will it be edgy like P135LS or will it be more of evolution compared to current gen pulsars? I will definitely like it on the lines of P135LS, but what's cooking inside Bajaj?Let's bring down the monster of corruption to it's knees.. please visit http://ipaidabribe.com/

How come its getting launched now???
I remember earlier it was told (by Rajiv Bajaj) it will be launched by financial year end???
If the launch is so near, why there are no spy pics of test mule??? I don't expect it to be like R15 where test mule spy pics started showing 1 yr earlier, but i expect spy pics if the launch is just around the corner...
