HOW??...WHEN THEY GAVE ALL THE PULSARS THE P200 LOOK, ITS PREVIOUS VERSION WAS STOPPED RIGHT?
I think they stopped 200 to make a space for KTM which is speculated a 200cc bike...may be...

i'm not talking bout the 200 here.
the 150 and 180 got the p200 look.
the tires got bigger, and a semi fairing got added.

the 150 and 180 without the semi-fairing and big tires got stopped

      that's the stuff it meant

As far as I know and as the title of the post suggests the completely new platform would be catering to a completely different segment of motorcycles, which would probably be 220cc +

Therefore I don't see any reason to implement that new platform into their existing models

          Here are my speculation/s

          > Last upgrade tp Pulsar150 was more than one year ago, Bajaj will first introduce P150 with 4 valves and keep it's price differentiated with P135.If this happens one will be 'hit' another will 'get hit'

          > Bajaj may introduce P150 & P180 with 4 valves at the same time, with good power bump, this move is enough to make sales better. Expect small interest in buyers for P220 as the power of 4V P180 will be very close !

          > One big surprise could be Bajaj developing a 250cc and launching this year to thwart Honda/Suz/Yamaha with a smaller price tag and with single cylinder air cooled ?!

Over all there will be small hike in pulsar share in the market soon after the launch, I'm sure MOST people buying HH/HMSI/Suz will always stick to their decision.

I think the 200 was stopped coz 220 was being carburetted and the price of the 220 would obviously going to come down it din make sense for them to two products prised very close to each other...

I also had this impression when I was riding a Hero Honda and thought that Pulsars are utter crap, only to realize that I was so so wrong about it. Today I ride a Pulsar 200 for near to 4 years now and every day when I fire the engine I feel that there's so much more left.

Today Pulsar engines are as good as any. No doubt that there's a lot of work that's still needs to be done specially on the chassis, over the past almost 4 years now, I never had one single reliability, quality or fuel efficiency issue. It all boils down to how you handle and keep up your bike and how well you did the run in. There's a common belief about Pulsars (and I don't know from where it originated) that if you have a Pulsar, then you can start banging the baby from day one. I'm telling this based on what I see people doing with their new Pulsars. Then that same I see at the service center with their machines with a looooong list of issues they are facing. It's not the bike's or manufacturer's fault. If you ill-treat a R1 it would happen the same with it too (of course you need to be alive to take her to the service center after treating her bad )

But the point is, it's a grand dad's myth today that Pulsars have reliability, quality and fuel efficiency issues.
hello everyone... My name is Husain and am very new to the forum

Many people seem to hold a lot of grudges against Bajaj... Well, I being a Bajaj brand loyal for many reasons would like to seriously defend Bajaj...

I have been a bike enthusiast since my school days... I have been surrounded by auto freaks since I was a baby... My father being the biggest nuthead of them... I have been on many a bike (short rides, long rides and very long rides)... I have personally owned a Bullet 500 (dads bike - 1981 to 1992), kinetic honda (97 to 98), yamaha rx100 (my alltime favourite 98-01), CBZ (the first gen - 01-03), Pulsar 180 (03-07), Avenger 200 (Younger bro 07-till date) and my current baby since the past 2 years the Pulsar 220 (07 nov - till date)...

Over the past 7 years I have been a Bajaj person as my experience with them has always been satisfying (ofcourse there were bad times, as there always are with everything and everyone...) but nevertheless overall I would term it as a good experience... Personnel, Mechanics, etc... They have always taken initiative in solving my problems... Even the ones I hadn't noticed... The spares are easily available (obviously if there is a new launch it takes some time for the spares to percolate through the networks)...

As for the performance, the original pulsar was seriously flawed (the back end wavering at speeds above 85kph, etc.) After that Bajaj have done a very commendable job... Improvising every few months and constantly searching for new innovations... Thats precisely why I have become a Bajaj Loyalist
(and have great respect for TVS. They have risen after they breakups with the big boys.)... A company which always strives for perfection (although not all steps are always successful and people slam them as on this forum as making bakras out of customers)... Well I guess this is the only country where people slam a company for trying... I was a Hero Honda fan... But since the last 5-7 years all they have done is improve paint jobs... When you see the evolution of the pulsar and compare it with the evolution of the Karizma/CBZ... THe pulsar has brought a lot more improvements (and not just paint jobs.)

I have been using the 220 for over 3 years now... Not once has my battery given me a problem... Not once has it ditched me on a long run... Not once has it acted out of character... A very reliable machine with good reliable technology... In my group there are 2 200's, 2 220's and 2 avengers... none of us have ever faced problems with servicing, spares or any major issues with the bike... A lot also depends on how you maintain and handle the bike...

It is not the Bike that handles the rider, IT IS THE RIDER THAT HANDLES THE BIKE...

just my 2 cents... pretty long for a first post i guess...

What about the people who own un-improved ones ?

any major flaw has been given to the people who bought it earlier AFAIK... Like the front shocks on the 200 were faulty and many got them replaced... I know one of my friends got his changed... My 220 got a new Petrol indicator sensor evrytime a supposedly new and improved one came out... None of them were better than the previous one, but well thats a different story... What I meant was every new model has some new thing and not just a better paint job :P

...Well I guess this is the only country where people slam a company for trying....

There are some people who expect perfect one for ther bucks, nothing wrong dude? Tech. should never be tried on customers, it start and end at factory tracks !!

U are right... maybe i didn't put my point correctly... I meant to say they put more efforts than some companies who merely concentrate on stickering jobs... They might have been overambitious with certain things.. but what the heck...

I have been using the 220 for over 3 years now... Not once has my battery given me a problem...

                          Battery doesn't belong to Bajaj

ok I correct myself again... "Not EVEN the battery has given me a prob"

Yup very subjective... Again my point being that u cant blame someone for trying hard...

the original pulsar was seriously flawed (the back end wavering at speeds above 85kph, etc.)

                          and

That was the biggest flaw... I had not had the oppurtunity to ride a lot on the first gen pulsars so can't really comment... I came into the pulsar fold with the DTSI launch...

It is not the Bike that handles the rider, IT IS THE RIDER THAT HANDLES THE BIKE.....

                          Funny

                          Why would you say so...?

                          Welcome again !!

                          Thank you Again

New pulsar/pulsars are going to be launched in 2011....engine is going to be 4 valve and styling done by bajaj, engine parts shared from ktm....thats it....nothing more, nothing less till date.
All other things discussed here are something someone wishes to have in the new bike/bikes or something else altogether(better service, spares parts to cost less, quality has to be improved etc.).

BTW i think it would be good for BAJAJ to drop the P150.Pulsar is their flagship performance models and 150cc are no more the "performance" segment any more...so leave 150 to Discover.
