As far as adding fuel injection goes, they don't have much a choice in the long run. Once the emissions norms tighten up for motorcycles. It's (almost) impossible to meet BS4 when running on a carb, since you need a catalytic converter in the exhaust to meet those emissions norms and a carb simply cannot keep the fuel going according to the needs of the catcon. Ergo, even if they do one more round of carbed bikes, it's going to be the last or second last round.Originally posted by fasttrack842001 View Post+1

Besides FI isn't the come all, end all of engine performance. Most of the time it's there because the emissions norms force the use of a three way catcon and that requires FI. A proper carb setup can deliver just as much power as FI can. It's even easier to play with then FI when you're looking at enhancing performance. Swapping jets is easier than remapping an FI system.
We'll see what they bring. Can't spend too much time speculating on it.

I agree totally. After riding an "Fi" bike for three years, I have realized that just "Fi" doesn't do wonders to the engine performance.
But apart from being environment friendly and adhering to emission norms, Fuel injection definitely does wonders when it comes to cold starts.. its a hassle free experience to start a bike with "Fi".
But like I said, currently the price premium is a bit too high for comfort.

There is no doubt that Rajiv Bajaj is inspired by Ducati.. and Pulsars were all along inspired by Ducati. If Rajiv indeed manages to make Pulsar as Indian Ducati.. can't ask for more than that. As of now, Pulsar is on right track.. with ex-yamaha MD sitting in advisor's post, I think they have all the right ingredients to shake up the market.Let's bring down the monster of corruption to it's knees.. please visit http://ipaidabribe.com/

Pulsar is decade old and in spite of several makeovers/versions it still lags behind in engine refinement & handling department compared to the competition. Pulsar also lacks overall consistency when it comes to reliability, quality and fuel efficiency compared to the competition.
Not sure what is there in store from the re-engineered pulsars, hope to see some geometry change to improve handling.

I must say that first impression is NOT always the last impression. I also had this impression when I was riding a Hero Honda and thought that Pulsars are utter crap, only to realize that I was so so wrong about it. Today I ride a Pulsar 200 for near to 4 years now and every day when I fire the engine I feel that there's so much more left.Originally posted by vipin_s View PostPulsar is decade old and in spite of several makeovers/versions it still lags behind in engine refinement & handling department compared to the competition. Today Pulsar engines are as good as any. No doubt that there's a lot of work that's still needs to be done specially on the chassis, over the past almost 4 years now, I never had one single reliability, quality or fuel efficiency issue. It all boils down to how you handle and keep up your bike and how well you did the run in. There's a common belief about Pulsars (and I don't know from where it originated) that if you have a Pulsar, then you can start banging the baby from day one. I'm telling this based on what I see people doing with their new Pulsars. Then that same I see at the service center with their machines with a looooong list of issues they are facing. It's not the bike's or manufacturer's fault. If you ill-treat a R1 it would happen the same with it too (of course you need to be alive to take her to the service center after treating her bad
)
But the point is, it's a grand dad's myth today that Pulsars have reliability, quality and fuel efficiency issues.

i am using 3.5 years and never had any reliability problem...my pulsar has never left me stranded in the middle of highway with any problem.....
i have seen many other bikes ....almost all manufacturers....strugling with cold start in the morning during chilling cold whether and in rains.....and man one thing i wanna tell u.....whatever the whether, whatever the condition of my bike.....my bike has always started on the first crank of starter......one puch of button the beast is alive....ready to go.....day after day....month after month....year after year.....

hehehe I'm not exactly sure about that... but yeah... I'm till date every now and then, something does come about these reliability things... I mean c'mmon guys give the blade runners at least a breather... at last they've come above cosmetics and are seriously trying to improve themselves. People say that every new Pulsars have nagging issues in their first lot. I say which bike does not have issues?? Bikes like BMW S1000RR had engine issues in their first lot.... latest.... look what happened to the 2011 Kawasaki ZX-10ROriginally posted by payeng View PostWhom are you trying to reason with bro?

Bajaj is paying more towards reducing the weight of the current crop of Pulsars (Pulsar 135LS is the start of it). Again, handling is a subject matter of getting used to. Earlier I thought that the handling of my Pulsar 200 sucked because of it's weight and longer wheel base. But later on I realized I just need to evolve my riding skills around itOriginally posted by dushyant123 View PostROFL
Yeah mahn my experience with my pulsar has been totally awesome...
My ride had a perfect run in, infact it wasnt taken over 100 in first 10k kms and now when i leave newer pulsars eating dust they just refuse to belive that i havent done any mods. Also i believe that P180 2008 models (dont know UG 2,3 or 4) were better in handling than the current lineup.
anyways i believe bajaj will outdo themselves and justify ”khudse hi aage har kadam”
I really hope they do not try to re-design the P220 and then again increase it's priceOriginally posted by Satyamzma View PostAAhhm lets wait for a 4 valve beautifully designed new P220 with mono shock & 6 gears...
Let's start thinking about something bigger.

It is utter BS when some fanboys say, Pulsar's aren't reliable, though I don't own one, I have plenty of respect for the bike and Bajaj for what it has managed to do the biking industry in India, they keep raising the bar everytime a new product is launched. I wish plenty of success to the new pulsars.
