Well for what you are thinking i would suggest another method, change the name of pulsar 150 to Discover 2 or something. In that way pulsar name would be for performance segment and P150 will survive in another name(although i suppose it sales would go down)...No harm in speculating things right.

Pulsar 150 is not a slouch in its segment,It just requires the age old recipe of upgradation. It would be good for the consumers, if they have more options in a given segment.Even if that bike does not perform to the best in its segment, its styling and various other aspects attract many customers and also keeps the competition going.Besides the sales it is getting,i dont think bajaj would even think about dropping P150 anytime soon.Originally posted by RanjithMN View Post

welcome to Xbhp bro you will find many anti-bajaj guys here.Originally posted by j4zb4 View Posthello everyone... My name is Husain and am very new to the forum
Many people seem to hold a lot of grudges against Bajaj... Well, I being a Bajaj brand loyal for many reasons would like to seriously defend Bajaj...
I have been a bike enthusiast since my school days... I have been surrounded by auto freaks since I was a baby... My father being the biggest nuthead of them... I have been on many a bike (short rides, long rides and very long rides)... I have personally owned a Bullet 500 (dads bike - 1981 to 1992), kinetic honda (97 to 98), yamaha rx100 (my alltime favourite 98-01), CBZ (the first gen - 01-03), Pulsar 180 (03-07), Avenger 200 (Younger bro 07-till date) and my current baby since the past 2 years the Pulsar 220 (07 nov - till date)...
Over the past 7 years I have been a Bajaj person as my experience with them has always been satisfying (ofcourse there were bad times, as there always are with everything and everyone...) but nevertheless overall I would term it as a good experience... Personnel, Mechanics, etc... They have always taken initiative in solving my problems... Even the ones I hadn't noticed... The spares are easily available (obviously if there is a new launch it takes some time for the spares to percolate through the networks)...
As for the performance, the original pulsar was seriously flawed (the back end wavering at speeds above 85kph, etc.) After that Bajaj have done a very commendable job... Improvising every few months and constantly searching for new innovations... Thats precisely why I have become a Bajaj Loyalist
(and have great respect for TVS. They have risen after they breakups with the big boys.)... A company which always strives for perfection (although not all steps are always successful and people slam them as on this forum as making bakras out of customers)... Well I guess this is the only country where people slam a company for trying... I was a Hero Honda fan... But since the last 5-7 years all they have done is improve paint jobs... When you see the evolution of the pulsar and compare it with the evolution of the Karizma/CBZ... THe pulsar has brought a lot more improvements (and not just paint jobs.)
I have been using the 220 for over 3 years now... Not once has my battery given me a problem... Not once has it ditched me on a long run... Not once has it acted out of character... A very reliable machine with good reliable technology... In my group there are 2 200's, 2 220's and 2 avengers... none of us have ever faced problems with servicing, spares or any major issues with the bike... A lot also depends on how you maintain and handle the bike...
It is not the Bike that handles the rider, IT IS THE RIDER THAT HANDLES THE BIKE...
just my 2 cents... pretty long for a first post i guess...
My Pulsar 200 may not be the fastest. But in more than 3yrs of ownership she has never let me down. She still looks absolute killer in blue and starts in first crank.Street racing is for Squids trying to make up for their small equipment

That would be total disaster.. P150 is what one would remember as soon as you say Pulsar, dropping P150 sends a very very wrong signal to buyers. There is no need to stop such a popular model.. it only needs proper upgrade job, which i'm sure it's going to get this time.Originally posted by RanjithMN View PostBTW i think it would be good for BAJAJ to drop the P150.Pulsar is their flagship performance models and 150cc are no more the "performance" segment any more...so leave 150 to Discover.Let's bring down the monster of corruption to it's knees.. please visit http://ipaidabribe.com/

I agree wth you. Dropping P150 will not be the cleverest idea.

@ Husain: WElcome to xBhp mate.. You'll find a lot of brand wars here.. Always take a bucket of popcorn and log in to the HOT threads.. You're bound to come across some VERY SPECIAL characters..
@All: Please keep in mind that Bajaj have promised an air cooled and a liquid cooled version of their upcoming flagship model.. In all probability i think it'll be a carb version for the air cooled bike with a bikini/ semi fairing and a full fairing for the LC Fi model.. Much like the Kawi Z1000 and Z1000SX in appearance, although both these 1000cc bikes are I-4 LC Fi..
If this wish of mine becomes a reality, then it'll be one hell of a duo to knock out the incoming Jap 250s..

that's the first bike that caught my imagination.. of course I was young, don't really know that much about bikes, I used to tell myself don't worry you gonna own it one day!! Now i'm eagerly waiting for the revamped Pulsars.. I hope Bajaj would be able to meet our expectations.. This time they are pretty high..

I am sure they will... 2 Indian companies I have really high hopes from to make it into the international scene and kick the fat ars*s of the Big boys are Tata Motors and Bajaj... Tata motors takes a weird u-turn everytime I think they have the right formula and direction... Bajaj doesnt make u-turns but is moving forward at a very slow pace...Originally posted by vrugonnab View PostYup

I think another company i expect to make it big is Mahindra & Mahinda. But that's more on the 4 wheelers side. Not too impressed with them on two wheelers side as yet. Have to wait and see how their Mojo works on the roadsOriginally posted by j4zb4 View PostI am sure they will... 2 Indian companies I have really high hopes from to make it into the international scene and kick the fat ars*s of the Big boys are Tata Motors and Bajaj... Well i guess it already IS a brand. A hall of famer at that!!!Originally posted by Digital_shubhi View PostIt would be nice to see Pulsar as a brand.
This would be for the first time that a bike became so popular and in demand that its made as a brand name.
