Abhi, do you mean Hero should launch a 250cc and discard ZMA/ZMR? If all companies does the same, they probably have only one big bike. ZMA's 223 cc category is different and 250cc category is different. ZMA/ZMR still has market and they need upgrades as per the requirements of current generation. A 250cc from Hero is just around the corner, most probably next year.

Bro.. i think what Abhi meant was that Hero is just upgrading/facelifting the Karizma/ZMR whereas we (the consumer) are expecting a 250cc (Atleast) from them.. and here they are just testing around with the same Karizma..

IMO.. i love the Karizma the way it is.. instead of face lifting the karizma.. they can go ahead and give an upgraded engine with a bit more power say 20-23 bhp giving it different name..

Same goes with the ZMR.. if they give a facelifted ZMR/ZMA.. I would definitely get upset and disappointed..

So hoping that they will launch a 250cc bike this festive season is what I expect..

What you guys see in the new shots is not a 250. Its the same old Hunk going through a makeover to compete with the upcoming Pulsar 150 and current R15/CBR. It was the actual design that Hero was supposed to launch as hunk but the idea was put in delay because of costs..
It will be a cheaper boy racer alternative to CBR150 and R15.

250cc is a diff bike and you will see it very soon..

Think Hero aren't supposed to mess with Honda engines till 2014 so itll just be a cosmetic upgrade imo but I feel better way is to offer rear disc, clip-on, better headlamps and reduce the price a bit in order to compensate for the least power in it's segment. This will be better thing to do then spending on new design with same engine

Why do you want to see at ZMR/ZMA and get disappointed when you are looking for a 250c. Power is not everything for an engine. ZMR/ZMA engine is one of the finest balanced engines and many are still buying looking at the engines. The ZMA/ZMR now needs a proper upgrades in looks and features to appeal for the new generations. We feel a bump-up in power required, but Hero can't do it as the engines are from Honda. 23-24 bhp for Karizma engine is an overkill, which might affect the characteristics of the engine totally (remember the engine is almost 30 years old). Instead of investing in improving an old engine, they can invest in a new engine with current technology and have a healthy power, which is going to come in the form of 250cc.

I think you got it wrong again.. I never wanted them to upgrade the engine of Karizma.. let them sell it along side.. thats what I would love to see.. am just saying.. instead of replacing the new bike with karizma in the name of karizma.. they can name it something else and sell Karizma/ZMR along side.. so that people who love touring.. would go for Karizma.. and people who want a sporty version of Karizma can go for the facelifted bike with a bit more power to it.. hope you got what I am trying to say here..

On a different note, could we possibly see a CBR150R engined motorcycle here? Just adding to the speculation!

I dont feel there would be many takers, if its the case, considering CBR 250 sells more than 150.. But Karizma certainly has the engine, to carry on for the next 5 years with these mods(with just marginal price increase)...
Lets see, what the Hero R&D has come up to tackle the changing taste of Indian bikers, then we will know for sure, what to expect from the bigger Hero bikes in the future. Eagerly waiting for it.... Please dont screw it up Hero....

Being realistic, I wouldn't expect an all-new motorcycle from Hero until the 2nd half of 2014, and by all-new I mean the fruit of Hero-EBR collaboration. Till then, we can expect refreshed versions of current 150cc and/or 223cc motorcycles. Ofourse, if Hero-EBR delivers anything sooner then it would be super awesome.

Ditto feeling. Hero's own bikes would take a hell lot of time to come. All they can do now is tinker around with their existing resources. Honda was a parasite all these years. Taking away more than what they gave. And now when they left too they made sure they made a damage!! Lol just my thoughts.
I only wish these are lower cc bikes as mentioned by many earlier like the hunk. And ya, stopping either of the karizmas would mean certain downfall. I don't think they would stop either.

Hero needs to replace the engines on it's bikes when the license agreement with Honda ends in 2014. There is no other way(if we discount the possibility of renewing the agreement with Honda), that includes Karizma's engine also. I think that's the reason why we are seeing these test mules.

After looking closely on latest spy pics in which the girl is riding, i can assure that it's New Karizma R as engine block and meter console looks same as current model, just few modifications in styling.. even exhaust is same as current bike...Also lack of rear disc in a model further confirms that its a same 223cc Unit!
