I think bajaj-KTM will be on another planet....Originally posted by payeng View PostThis will be the firm's acid test. i.e. to see if the self developed engines can match that it got from Honda.
Also by 2017 TVS would have its TVS-BMW 250-500 models ready and God knows where Bajaj-KTM would be.

Lets keep this thread to Hero, shall we? If the product is good, it will speak for itself.

Re: Hero Moto's 3 New Engines: xBhp News
Exactly.. i was just comparing it the way people compare the Karizma with Dukes and CBRs..Originally posted by Naveen1985 View PostI think bajaj-KTM will be on another planet....

yeah man.. though it is 2 cylinder.. honda should have launched a 2 cylinder then.. so this 5 bhp power gain seems a lot to the people but the 3 bhp gain to the Karizma/ZMR seem very less and Fugly to people..Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostChill guys. One thread got locked already.

like you say.. let the specs sheet of the 250cc come.. then we can decide whether to bash Hero or not
if they are not upto mark.. then I will be the first one to bash them
wondering if I can get a spy shot of the 250cc somewhere on the highways
Sorry for the OT.

Re: Hero Moto's 3 New Engines: xBhp News
As per the article, I quote this:
"He declined to share details about the segments but said these would gradually be installed across most products in its range. Hero has developed new engines of 100cc, 110cc and 250cc capacity with technical partners."
Nowhere it was mentioned by Hero themselves that it is developing the said engine capacities. It is probably Business Standard which conveniently assumed that those are the engine capacities under development.
On the other hand, why two engines with similar capacities (100 and 110)??
With Bajaj offering great value in the 100 and 125 segment, how does Hero plan to compete with a 100 and 110?

110 cc is for premium 100cc category commuters....just to give them slightly extra power and premium feel with almost identical mileage...Originally posted by blizviz View PostAs per the article, I quote this:

Re: Hero Moto's 3 New Engines: xBhp News
Eh.. i guess they already have 3 bikes in 125cc segment.. however no idea why they havent mentioned about new engines for 150cc and 125cc..Originally posted by blizviz View PostAs per the article, I quote this:

Re: Hero Moto's 3 New Engines: xBhp News
Hero won't lose anything significant share even if it discontinues the Karizma.. Out of the 4-5 lakh vehicles it sells every month only a tiny fraction of it constitutes the Karizma.
No one here seems to notice that Hero is at Big Risk of losing its strangle hold in the form of losing the 97 cc Sochiro Honda designed gem.. the engine that made Hero what it is in India today. It is nearly impossible for Hero to match that particular engine that too in its first attempt.
Honda is preparing its "Dream" series for the onslaught on Hero.

Re: Hero Moto's 3 New Engines: xBhp News
Great. hope to see some good stuff from Hero despite of the recent karizma dissapointments.
I would so love a tweaked up Impulse with a 180cc+ or 200cc mill. It would be a treat for tourers.Code:https://www.instagram.com/ankit_himalayas/

No there are no site which gives these numbers.. But I have seen the sales data.Originally posted by Boom S View Postpayeng any site which lists sales numbers by model ?
Sales of Karizma or Impulse is very insignificant compared to the rest of the Hero sales.

Re: Hero Moto's 3 New Engines: xBhp News
This exactly what I had in mind. Forget the bigger bikes. Hero is what it is because of its commuter line up and now coming up with a completely new engine for that range... I want to see if they can live upto their current glory. This is where the challenge lies for HeroOriginally posted by payeng View PostHero won't lose anything significant share even if it discontinues the Karizma.. Re: Hero Moto's 3 New Engines: xBhp News
Honda did stop Hero to setup their own R&D!!! Sir.Originally posted by Boom Syes, yes, someone would now come and tell me stories about how bad bad honda didn't allow hero to upgrade. fair enough. but surely honda couldn't stop hero from doing in-house development and releasing it as soon as the restrictions were over ?
did they ? no sir, hero sat around waiting for EBR to tune the engine and after all these years of waiting we have a piddly upg that fanboys are going gaga over.
Have you ever wondered why Hero never touched Classic CBZ which is a cult classic now and had loads of following?? Do you smell anything suspicious?
BTW, I am kind of enjoying your posts

Re: Hero Moto's 3 New Engines: xBhp News
riaz, that's hard to believe. I can believe that honda stopped hero from releasing better mods but to stop in-house R&D ?
how would they even enforce such a ban ?
do you have a link to back this assertion ?

Re: Hero Moto's 3 New Engines: xBhp News
As far as I know, Hero wasn't allowed to export without Honda's consent under the "Hero Honda" brand. Also nobody stopped Hero from doing it's own R&D outside the "Hero Honda" badge.
Hero models used to co-exist along with Hero Honda models. Remember "Hero Majestic", "Hero Winner"..??
