All the best Jiten and Sid, hope you get the best bike suitable for you .
N300 and R3 both are best in class machines. Any buy is an awesome buy.

N300 & R3 have hardly any difference. Price wise or feature wise. The main points which I noticed was :

      # N300 has 140mm ground clearance whereas R3 has 160mm. Here, R3 is better.

      # N300 has a 17 ltr tank whereas R3 has 14 ltr. Here N300 has an upper edge.

So I decided, let R3 come into the market, will compare the ownership cost like the fairing cost and the other consumables etc.

      And then decide.

Both are come in India via CKD so I think after sales service cost would be almost same.

That's an interesting criteria. I feel Yamaha's parts would be priced reasonably over the Ninja but I may be wrong. Do let us know your findings please!

Fiaz : i missed out on that point. true.
AFAIk N300 had test rides. atleast in bangalore. not sure if it is now. R3 i heard no test ride. seems i have to hold someone at knifepoint and test their bike [emoji14] i have already listed the probable people to do that LOL
Ninja comes with 55-65 headlamps while the R3 is 55-55 so technically ninja has the advantage here.

And ninja is heavier cause it has a 3litre bigger tank than R3 so the 3kg difference in weight.

The biggest advantage for the R3 is the ground clearance of 160mm. This will make a big difference in every day use than anything else.

I was visiting SVC here in Bangalore.
most of the R3 will be delivered by 5th Spet latest.
They will be for display for hardly 2 days.
            No test ride.
Perfect/Pacer are dealing with RTO permit.

Got to know Ymaha India want to keep R3 as exclusive as what Kawas are doing with its bike.
SVC guy said they havent got the list and price list of parts yet, though service charge will similar to Ninja300 servicing.
First servicing will cost around 3000 bucks what they said.
And normal paid servicings will also go near 3500-4000.

After all exclusive and performance bikes will have cost for everything.

By the way abhi R3 sahi se review hua bhi nahi and people are worried about full tank range and complaining on headlights.
            Did someone tested it.

Ninja 300 manual says 55-55 headlamps.
            Are you sure about it!!!

bigger tank is good advantage, but 3 litres never means 3 kg extra.
3 litres is never equal to 3 kgs.
And moreover to get that 3ltr space how much metal/plastic is used I dont know. Though it is bigger but weight doesnt matters much solely on tank.
Volume is not equal to weight.

Ninja 300 Kerb weight is 172 kg and R3 kerb weight is 169kg.

if you are riding r15 from 3 and a half years then rc390 should not be too aggressive for you.

also r3 will feel a bit inferior to r15 (strictly in terms of handling) as it has inferior components when compared to r15. r15 comes with perimeter chassis and aluminium swingarm while the r3 uses diamond frame and steel section swingarm..

I am riding r15 for 3.5 years, that's the reason I want something more comfortable. RC390 is pure track machine and I want something more comfortable than R15 and RC in long distance touring. About the inferior part, yes you are right that the chasis of R15 is better than R3. But there are lot of other parts in a Bike, I am happy what R3 is providing.

Kerb weight is bike's weight including all consumable and Full tank of Fuel.
3 lts extra petrol is around 2.25 kgs. So yes, bigger fuel tank does influence the Kerb weight.

Thanks (I knew that. My comment was to make realize the difference in 3 kgs in kerb weight is not due to 3 litres of fuel)

                    Hi all,

excited to post my 1st few words as a new member.
Booked my R3 on 18th at Ganesh motors, hyderabad. Showroom says deliveries starting only by 1st week & on road price around 3.8lacs.
However, dissapointed by the Yamaha customer care & twitter accounts which have not given any reply on when the bike will be given?
I narrowed it to Benelli 300 & R3,but going for R3 coz of Yamaha's reliability & service center is close by my house & also R3 weighs lot less than benelli & will be a boon in reversing the bike & tight traffic.

Dude.. a litre of petrol is approx 900grams. Plus ninja tank is metal unlike R3 which is plastic. There is technically no tangible weight difference between the two, unless 200-400 grams makes a difference.

The headlight specifications I read online. Could have been wrong.

The fuel tank is not made of plastic. Its made of metal only but the outside cover is of plastic. Thats in a way better for the people who wants to customize it.

So you think that the difference in weights of both bike is due to tank range only???
And does that 3 kg weight really matters to you.

By the way R3 has plastic cover on its steel tank. Its not completely plastic.

I just want to clear the misconception that the R3 has a weight advantage due to anything other than a smaller tank. My fz had a plastic tank cover and a plastic tank inside as well. Not sure about R3, how is the R15 constructed?

Plus that 200-400 grams can be attributed to the ninja being bigger and the slipper clutch if I may do so. [emoji14]

Did you check with service centre about free service? Sunil had said 3 free services?

Offcourse the total 3 kgs difference due to several things which include bigger and full metallic and slipper clutch too.

Yes even they said 3 free services.
Later paid servicing at 5k kms.
Though they said manual and service chart along with part list are yet to arrive.
                              Service charges will be costly.

Also I doubt mechanics are trained for R3
They dont know about all the parts and even didnt said anything on training.
Yet the dealer said they will keeping one R3 for training and testing purpose.

Talking about fuel tank, 3L is significant amount of fuel for a tourer.
Also Mileage is something which some say doesn't matter in a 300+ CC bike, but it does for some people.
Yamaha returns a FE of some where around 23(source:- google and R3 forum) and Ninja approx 25+(Source:- google +xda).
Full tank of yamaha would go some where around 322 kms and Ninja would do a whooping 425.
How much of a difference does this make
